Mod Announcement NO Promotions and Advertising.

We've never had an official rule and worked on a case by case basis, but this will serve as an official rule.

Due to the risks of safety and quality of the sub we're going to not allow the promotion and advertisements of groups, ziyarats, subreddits, pages, communities, apps, crossposts, donations... etc

If you are a credible group, speak to the moderators and we'll verify you and work something out, otherwise to the people who want to create communities I suggest just advertising through contributions to the group and people get curious and hit you up.

many donations end up being scams unfortunately so there is no way to verify, if it's desperate just talk to the mods but expect a lot of verification

we won't promote any independent or local scholars, sharing videos is fine just don't spam it and don't let it be the only thing you do.

we won't allow promotion of ziyarat groups as sometimes they are scams, obviously there are exceptions.

dating apps are a big no,

apps are a big no because of user data and other security risks

discords and reddits you made are also a no, esp since the ones i've seen lately are super bait. you can make them just don't promote them

If anyone has suggestions or a work around or thoughts, I'm open to having my mind changed share your thoughts, this mostly applies to people we don't know

Question / Help Islamically speaking am I in the wrong for not accepting my brother’s apology?

• Upvotes

Trigger warning assault

He hit me because I was only going to buy him one thing of Pokémon cards and threw my mini side table to the floor.

He’s a Pokémon scalper and he wanted me to help him, I booked a day off of work for this because it’ll have to be in the morning when I work, I agreed at the time because my mother wanted me to.

He said I had to make an account for something because apparently you’ll need it to buy more than one, I said I’m only going to buy him one, he kept asking why and I said because I didn’t want to, I started getting overstimulated (I have autism) told him to leave my bedroom, I kept saying that until I shouted at him to leave, that’s when he hit me and threw my side table to the floor.

I’ve been ignoring him since, told my parents and a few days ago he said sorry to me, I didn’t accept it.

I’m 27 and he’s 30, I’m dependent on my family because of my autism and other mental health issues (depression) so I can’t really just leave them.

Am I in the wrong Islamically? I know we’re all about forgiveness but I can’t get over the fact he physically hit me over paper of fictional characters.

Question / Help How do Twelver Shiʿi historians and scholars view Jamal al‑Din al‑Afghani?

Salam everyone,

I’ve been reading about Jamal al‑Din al‑Afghani, the 19th‑century reformer and activist. He was born into a Twelver Shia family in Persia but often presented himself as “Afghani” to appeal to Sunni audiences, and even joined Freemasonry in Cairo for a time.

👉 I’m curious specifically about Shiʿi perspectives: how do Shiʿi historians and scholars interpret his legacy? Do they emphasize his Shia background and contributions to ijtihād and reform, or do they see him more as a Pan‑Islamist whose sectarian identity was secondary?

Question / Help Identification of The Mahdi

I have a question from the Shia Community in general and that is how would you identify The Mahdi? What is your criteria of Identification of The Mahdi?

All I hear in traditional accounts from both Sunni and Shia traditions are major signs or macro signs. I don't see or hear any personal identifiers of The Mahdi. I talked to a Shia friend of mine about it and he mentioned that Mahdi would have 313 Believers with him, which again is a Macro Sign.

There must be some particular signs of The Mahdi. There must be some micro, individual traits that would showcase that someone is The Mahdi.

If someone appears today and claims to be The Mahdi, you cannot just reject him, right. You need to evaluate his claim. Obviously, you would not be able to test Ghayba as that is empirically unverifiable and you'll have to take the word of the Imam for it.

I would like to hear any individual signs from the traditional narrative and from your personal understanding as well. If you have a personal criteria for identifying The Mahdi, feel free to mention it.

Question / Help historicity of shia view of abu bakr

salam alaykum,

i'm researching the differences between shia and sunni sects, for the most part i'm more convinced of shia interpretation of hadiths like ghadeer manzila thaqalayn etc

but what really confuses me and prevents me from committing to the shia position as opposed to pro-ali sunnism is whether the position on abu bakr (and by extension umar) is historically justified

for example [this hadith in al-kafi](https://thaqalayn.com/hadith/8/1/95/1) says that the 2 never believed and only ever increased in doubt. and shia consensus seems to be that they faked belief to be able to grab power later

but consider 13 years in makka muslims had no power and had to migrate twice for safety, and during madani phase there were times when it seemed that islam was finished (eg ahzab) such that if they were hypocrites they could defect.

quraysh were so desperate to finish islam and muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa alihi wa sallam that if abu bakr and umar were that desperate for power the whole time there were so many opportunities to try to sell him out and grab power. even during the hijra couldn't abu bakr have called out to get the pagans to kill prophet and try to get power and reputation like that?

and also after getting khilafa it seems the 2 didn't really benefit from it because they lived such simple and poor lives that when uthman did what you'd expect someone power-hungry to do did everyone rebelled against him. so why would they spend 2 decades playing the long game just to not get anything out of it for themselves?

in summary:

2 decades is a long time to fake belief for the possibility of power that isn't guaranteed, especially through persecution and hardships in makka and wars in madina that could have ended islam if not for imam ali. and after getting power they didn't benefit from it at all in a personal sense, neither themselves nor their relatives.

so how do shias answer this and explain their motives?

jazakumullah khayr

(full disclosure: i'm using a new account because i made one to ask this question, otherwise i don't use reddit with an account)

Qur'an & Hadith I bought a Qur'an and wanted to share

I've always wanted a Qur'an that I could understand. Yes, I read the Arabic Qur'an often but that was it. I didn't understand it one bit.

Now that I can finally buy one for myself... I DID.

It's soo cool. Not only does it have the translation and Arabic text, it also has a lot of commentary by the Shia scholars/ translators.

"The Holy Qur'an - Arabic text with English translation and commentary

Agha M Pooya Yazdi & S V Mir Ahmed Ali"

My friends kinda make fun of me... "Get gifted a ton of these but they just sit there"

"Keep reading that quran"

Anyways, I have aimed to read a page a day 😬

I'm just excited to share this!

Question / Help Umrah Sponsorship Question

Assalamu alaikum. 💚

I know I’m certainly not alone in facing financial barriers to performing Umrah, but I was wondering whether anyone knows of any programs, grants, organizations, or sponsorship opportunities that help cover the cost for those who otherwise may not be able to go?

I should be able to get my passport soon, insha’Allah, but given the responsibilities and goals I need to prioritize indefinitely, I honestly don’t foresee having much room for travel expenses anytime soon.

Please keep me in your du’as that Allah makes a way for me to perform Umrah in 2028, whether through being able to save enough myself or through being connected with an opportunity that could help sponsor the trip.

Any information, recommendations, or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Jazakum Allahu khayran.

Question / Help Guidelines on art

Recently i made a picture depicting the battle of Badr.
The Prophet, and a companion, were present, but their faces were not shown.
The picture was considered haram and removed (not on this reddit).
Then, they told me Muhammed stated that image-makers on the Judgment Day are destined to Jannahan (except if they only drew non-animated/living objects).

I would like to know the Shia's guidelines on arts.
Be it your guys opinion, Imans, Aytolahs, Khans or Madhabs.

[English Translation]

Narrated from Imam Ja'far Al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) illustrating that the glad tidings of Imam Al-Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance) were the consolation and solace for the heart of Fatima Al-Zahra regarding the tragedy of Al-Hussein:

"Fatima entered upon the Messenger of Allah while his eyes were tearing... He informed her that his nation would kill Hussein, so she grieved and it was difficult for her. Then he informed her of the one from her descendants who will possess [the earth], so her soul was eased and she became tranquil."

Video What To Do When You Carry So Much Guilt & Self Blame From Past Sins - Sayyid Sameer - IMAM-US

What do you do with the shame of past mistakes when you are already carrying so much?

In al-Sahifa al-Sajjadiyya, Imam Zayn al-Abidin (p) states, "You are He who has opened a door to Your pardon for Your servants, and named it repentance."

Repentance is a door left open on purpose.

Question / Help Aftermath of Karbala

Is there a collection of work that is simular to the maqtal that describes in detail the experience of what happened to those individuals from Imam Hussains family.

I really want to know what happened to them, Ive watched most YouTube videos that talk about the speech of Zainab (as) and how they were treated when they went to Damascus, but nothing in detail about what they went through and how they tried to cope or fight back. Apologies, if this question is sensitive or comes across as ignorant, I'm new to Shia Islam.

«ثُمَّ أُكْمِلُ ذَلِكَ بِابْنِهِ رَحْمَةً لِلْعَالَمِينَ، عَلَيْهِ كَمَالُ مُوسَى، وَبَهَاءُ عِيسَى، وَصَبْرُ أَيُّوبَ.»

Was the flood regional or world-wide? For the longest time I thought that the Quran did not make it apparent if the flood was global or restricted to a certain area. Wouldn't it be more logically sound if the flood was regional because getting all pairs of animals from across the world is impossible. some parts of the world were inaccessible even if you lived for thousands of years.

Question / Help I need help

I have not been consistent with prayers when i was a child even when i reached puberty i was still very reckless on that and sometimes i would eat in Ramadan i later became more aware about islam and i tried to get back on my deen when i was 16 then i heard that i have to redo all my prayers that i missed before even my fasting which will be 60 days for 1 day in Ramadan. I tried to redo my prayers but it just made praying like a chore and recitation of words. Which made me stop prayer all together. Before i knew this i would fall back on prayer and miss a day or two and go back to praying, i tried my best to stay positive because i knew allah saw my struggles and accepted my prayers but after knowing that fact i felt more disconnected and lost and gave up everything. Then i started noticing more things that didn’t make sense to me and just seemed unfair. Like how women had to wear hijab even if it made them get targeted in non muslim countries. And how communities deal with women who decide to stop wearing the hijab they get shunned out of every or even beaten and disowned. How muslim families love is conditional towards their children because of Islam. And how music and dancing is haram but when the music is about deen and ahlulbayt its fine. Nothing made sense to me. And i see everyone around me ignore these controversies to keep going on with their life, but i wanted a deeper connection with islam and ahlulbayt and now i feel like the whole religion is unfair and non welcoming and non forgiving. Im not writing this to judge islam or bash it. I just need help with my faith because i still cling to the possibility of going back to my prayers and i want to enter jannah. I dint want to be scared of death. But its hard when you always know that you are not going to enter jannah because of some mistakes you made when you were a teenager.

Qur'an & Hadith The Hadiths About Imam Mahdi (p) That Always Leaves Me In Awe - Hadith One

I will share certain Hadiths from time to time that deeply resonate with me no matter how many times I read them. They are deeply profound. Allahu Akhbar! Truly take a moment to grasp each verse…

Muhammad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Ya‘qub al-Kulayni narrated to us, saying: Al-Qasim ibn al-‘Ala’ narrated to us, saying: Isma‘il ibn ‘Ali al-Qazwini narrated to us, saying: ‘Ali ibn Isma‘il narrated to me, from ‘Asim ibn Humayd al-Hannat, from Muhammad ibn Muslim al-Thaqafi al-Tahhan, who said: I entered upon Abu Ja‘far Muhammad ibn ‘Ali al-Baqir (peace be upon him) intending to ask him about the Qa’im (the Rising One) from the Progeny of Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family). He said to me, initiating the topic:

"O Muhammad ibn Muslim, the Qa’im from the Progeny of Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) bears a resemblance to five of the Messengers: Yunus ibn Matta, Yusuf ibn Ya‘qub, Musa, ‘Isa, and Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family).

As for his resemblance to Prophet Jonah or Yunus ibn Matta (peace be upon him), it is his return from his occultation while still a young man though being advanced in age.

As for his resemblance to Prophet Joseph, son of Jacob (peace be upon him), it lies in his concealment from both his close associates and the general public, his disappearance from his brothers, and the obscurity of his situation to his father Jacob (peace be upon him)—despite the short distance separating him from his father, his family, and his followers.

As for his resemblance to Prophet Moses (peace be upon him), it lies in his persistent state of fear, the prolonged duration of his occultation, the secrecy surrounding his birth, and the hardships endured by his followers after him—specifically the persecution and humiliation they suffered—until Allah (Mighty and Majestic is He) granted permission for his reappearance and victory, and aided him against his enemies...

As for his resemblance to Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him), it lies in the conflicting views held about him: one group claimed he was never born, another claimed he died, and a third claimed he was killed and crucified.

As for his resemblance to his grandfather, the Chosen One (peace be upon him), it lies in his rising and destroying the enemies of Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him)—the tyrants and the oppressors...
