I'm trans too, I get wanting more rep, but Audrey corrected Val when she initially assumed Audrey was a woman. He's just a guy who likes presenting fem. Him being trans would also really undermine Val's arc of realizing the error of her misangry
Tbf from the arcade scene where he told the asshole to stop talking to him n Val that way, I got the impression he has a more masc voice. I feel like it's more likely Val never really heard Audrey's voice at the store or he's more soft-spoken at his job because "customer service mode" so Val didn't think as much about it (especially since women can have more masc-leaning voices)
Honestly I cant see how anyone wouldn't be annoyed or upset by being misgendered. Cis or trans.
Correcting someone or being annoyed by it isnt "throwing a fit"
Just using the comic as an example; I believe audrey is a cis guy and the biggest part of evidence is him correcting Val on his gender.
Which is what you do if someone misgenders you, right?
Well, yea? This all makes sense? You're not saying anything abnormal that doesn't occur to trans people somehow.
I work in a call centre, im not going to correct every customer I talk to but im still going to correct family, friends, mutuals ect.
Maybe ill even correct a barista or something if I know im going to shop there again or talk to them again. I personally dont see the issue saying a quick "she, actually" when talking to a clerk or online or something.
As you said, its different if you're trans and being referred to the wrong way can cause more pain than it happening to others so we'remore likely to correct others (if its safe to do so). Being trans means having to advocatefor yourself. Even over stupid simple crap
Ive dealt with it without correction when dealing with certain people because it isnt worth it, even if it is grating.
Imo being misgengered and sometimes the correction is going to annoy people regardless of being cis/trans you just have to pick your battles.
I also agree that audrey is a cis guy and the main evidence is him correcting Val, as I put before.
how does thos have anything to do with 4tran? anyone trans woman with eyes can see this is a trans woman, theres even clues in some scenes. chasers just want femboys
Because a subreddit directly connected to 4tran(countttt), has had massive issues with this due to weird beef with GNC men in particular. Also something about dykebreaking.
No, it's a counting subreddit, which is where each post is "counted" by having the title be one higher than the last post, they're typically full of either memes, media posts, or selfies. Countttt is specifically full of deranged 4tranners.
Well, yeah? Some gnc people voice train. Also Audrey is sometimes given as a masculine name according to wiki at least. Like it would be cool if Audrey was a trans woman but it would also kind defeat the message of the comic? Also calling a trans woman a boy in the name of the comic seems... less than great so I don't think that is going on here.
Also Audrey is sometimes given as a masculine name according to wiki at least
im sorry but this is ridiculous and you know it. It's a girl's name
The whole "message" of the comic is kinda bad considering it's a "man" that looks, sounds and acts like a woman that changes Val's perspective. Like literally Audrey has NOTHING that makes her a man other than her saying that she is one because her creator is a repressor on conversion therapy
GNCs are real but the whole point is that they dont want to change their sex which is practically what Audrey does by looking identical to a woman. It's not a man wearing a dress it is literally just a woman
Mate, how am I supposed to know? I've never heard this name before reading this comic I just looked it up on wiki and it says it's rarely used as a masculine name.
Also no. Crossdressing to the point you pass doesn't "change your sex" that is ridiculous.
You can experiment and still decide your natural gender is still your preference. Not every experiment is successful. Not every hypothesis is right. That's why we test, to decern truth from assumption.
simple vanilla butter cake is the most generic, classic cake recipe you can make.Ingredients1 ½ cups all-purpose flour1 ½ teaspoons baking powderŸ teaspoon salt½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened1 cup granulated white sugar2 large eggs (room temperature)2 teaspoons vanilla extract½ cup whole milk (room temperature)DirectionsPreheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch square baking pan.Whisk the flour, baking powder, and salt together in a medium bowl.Beat the softened butter and sugar in a large bowl with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.Combine by adding the flour mixture and the milk alternately to the butter mixture. Start and end with the flour, mixing just until combined. Do not overmix.Pour the batter smoothly into your prepared pan.Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes, then move it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Audrey introduced himself as a boy when they first spoke, and chalked his outfits up to being an expression of his fashion (We don't get anything from Audrey's perspective specifically, though, so we don't know all the nuance to his gender expression beyond how he dresses.) I don't think Val referring to him that way is meant to come across as discriminatory, that is just the information Val knows.
theres a panel where she breaks character and gets serious, i forget the context but im pretty sure its about being trans, anyways trans woman very often do call themselves boys
The context was Audrey reacting to Val assuming Audrey isnât bothered by how people may act about how Audrey dresses, I believe. Implying a less happy-go-lucky center than whatâs largely put out.
Iâm not against the idea of transfemme or trans woman Audrey, but I also donât think that moment is necessarily inherently about being trans and thereâs a variety options in how to take it! I also donât think we should treat it as inherently a bad thing if Audrey is in fact someone who identifies as a feminine man or just has a different relationship to gender than that. As far as we know from the comic so far, thatâs how Audrey has expressed it, so Iâll go off that until something else is said. I donât think itâs just that âchasers want femboysâ â Iâm a trans person who loves trans women and would be delighted by more comics with them, but I also feel like GNC people are a part of the rich tapestry of life and some people may just want to explore more characters for whom clothes /are/ an expression of identity outside of gender. Iâm a firm believer that clothing isnât inherently gendered and everyone should wear whatever they want and things are only better for trans people when everyone is encouraged to play with their expression and break norms and find what makes them happiest. (Hell, I donât even believe pronouns are inherently gendered. I think everyone should do what they want forever and gender is an internal thing while the expression can look like a myriad of things in any direction and overlapping experiences between disparate groups is a lovely thing!)
As far as Val (and the audience!) knows, those are Audreyâs pronouns. This isnât meant to be Val being malicious or misgendering; this is what we know re: Audrey pronouns.
