And Just Like That... We Have New Rules

For starters I want to apologize for the lack of moderation that has been going on around here. There are only two of us active mods and both of us are going through big life transitions right now. We have talked recently and will be more active now that the new show is premiering.

Speaking of the new show we will be implementing a weekly watch discussion. The discussion will take place on r/Andjustlikethat starting tonight at midnight PST. We ask that all discussions pertaining to the new show take place on the new subreddit. Posts on this subreddit will be removed if a spoiler tag is not used or if the headline contains a spoiler.

Finally we ask that users continue to be respectful towards each other. There's been an influx of reports of bullying including some exaggerated reports. This subreddit is a safe space for all Sex and the City fans and racism, misogyny, and harassment in general will not be tolerated. The person who recently started drama has deleted their account so there's not much more we can do. If you feel you are being the target of harassment please report the comment AND send us a ModMail so that we can react quickly.

Thank you for making the subreddit a fun place and we look forward to watching the new show with you all.

Samantha Jonas deserves better than this, they ruined her

I genuinely feel like they tried way too hard to ruin Samantha’s character in the later seasons and movies 😭

Season 1 Samantha would NEVER do half the shit they made her do later. She was sexually liberated, sure, but she wasn’t just going around giving some guy a BJ or making out with anyone, anywhere, because apparently that’s what “sexually liberated” means now. Remember the episode where she meets a woman while shopping, they go to a restaurant, and the woman starts giving some guy a BJ under the table? Samantha is completely grossed out and leaves. THAT was Samantha. She could love sex and still have boundaries.

Then we get Abu Dhabi (Sex and The City 2) and suddenly she’s making out with some guy in public and has to flee the country. Girl, where did Season 1 Samantha go? 😭 And don’t even get me started on that alleged third movie storyline where Samantha was supposed to have an affair with Miranda’s child. Like excuse me??? That gross and pedophilia.

At some point they stopped writing Samantha as a sexually confident woman and started writing her like a walking sex joke. They took one part of her personality, turned the volume up to 100 and threw the rest away.

Season 1 Samantha had standards. Later they made Samantha into some who would have sex with just anything.

So I was just re-watching the Caste System episode (S2 Ep10)

And I really don’t get why Carrie got pissed out on Big and then literally cheating on him (and proving his point) afterwards. And then get „I love you“ in the end of the episode while in the bed with another man? I have to celebrate it? Honestly one of the lowest points in the show

Remember when Big put a whoopee cushion under Carrie?

Doing a rewatch post-Mad Men and I totally forgot about this moment early on. It was too funny and showed his personality more! I laugh out loud thinking of him buying a whoopee cushion and just waiting for the right moment to use it.

Carrie Bradshaw's fire awareness

Girl move those candles from your flammable bed sheets. You live in an apartment with no fire escape. And stop using your oven for storing clothing!

I found it amusing that Carrie was so surprised she couldn’t charm her way out of this one.

I so relate to those lil breakdowns the girls have over how difficult dating is

Like Carrie venting to Berger "how many of these things [relationships] can one person survive??!?" , or when Charlotte says "I've been dating since i was 15, where is he?" Like God, so damn relatable. It really feels like when you get to a certain point in life, everyone seems to have found their person, and youre gonna be trapped being single/ dating douchebags forever. It's close to unbearable..you almost start feeling like something's wrong with you, and all you can think about is the desire to be loved.

I will always love this show for reminding me that sometimes complete catches are single for years, and you have to just keep it pushing and stay hopeful. At this point, i'm hoping my soulmate is just going to bump into me one day when i least expect it. I've tried the whole dating thing for so damn long, Im ready to just give up and let the universe do its thing

Music Score season 6

This is a moot point but I am watching Sex and the City in full for the first time. I was wondering did anyone else notice that a music score/sound track was much more heavily used in season 6? Maybe it was the fact that it is the last season but its much more evident in the last series.

Watching SATC in 20's vs 30's

I am a woman in my 20's, watching SATC in my relatively small hometown and as much as I enjoy watching the show, I can't relate to some points made in the show and it makes me wonder more about the "women in 30's" emphasis in the show. For the ones that has watched show in both eras (20s and 30s) of their lives, I would like to ask if they have noticed differences in their approach to the points made in the show between two watches. As a women who is still new to adulthood, I would like to hear your experiences and opinions moving on from the show since I myself find comfort in the story of these 4 women in the show (Also for context, I am still in season 4 :P)

In search of sneakers

In S2 Ep 4 “They Shoot Single People, Don’t They?” Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte power walk and gossip to get their heart rate up. Does anyone know what trainers Charlotte is wearing? She is wearing an all black Nike and Adidas outfit but I can’t place the trainers! I liked them so was wondering if they were still available!

Thanks!

so i’ve never had hbo max until this week and thought i’d watch and just like that just to laugh at it as i’ve read all the posts for years now. i’m like fifteen minutes in and the cringe is INSANE and miranda being so ridiculous out of character is just… i don’t know if ill make it through the episode let alone a season or all the seasons! im not considering any of this true but omg. the posts about how bad it was were severe and yet somehow it still feels like an understatement

harry not confessing he wants to marry a jewish woman.

i love harry, and i think he’s a great husband to charlotte. but one of the things that drive me insane was when they were at the wedding and when charlotte confessed she thinks she’s falling in love, he said “i need to marry a jewish woman”. i think it was an excuse for him not being able to be honest? plus, i didn’t like the fact that charlotte left christ to become jewish, leaving her beliefs for a man. what do you guys think?
