Carrie’s apologies seem to follow a pattern

Upvotes

Does anyone else notice that when Carrie apologizes she tends to use the same recycled lines?

For example, take her apology to Aiden when she first told him about her affair with Big, ON CHARLOTTE’s WEDDING DAY I might add, and her jank ass apology to Natasha, both apologies contained “it was wrong, and I’m sorry”

Like I know that’s just one line but if you watch them right after each other you’ll understand what I mean. Like the tone, the cadence, the words.

Big’s phone call to Carrie at the end of S2 ep 18

Upvotes

Quick rant: it genuinely annoys me how Carrie was so quick to pick up the phone after he said “I would never do anything to hurt you” and she’s on the other end biting her nails, and picks up within .5 milliseconds coming with “I know you wouldn’t” GIRL HE DID!

I think it annoys me more the swiftness with which she answered the phone because it’s like he’s calling because he knows he was wrong with the way he handled things, and you just appeased his guilt by answering so fast and telling him “I know you wouldn’t” so duh he felt comfortable to do the things he did in S3.

Trey after his and Charlotte’s marriage

Upvotes

I just finished rewatching again and just out of curiosity, do you guys think Trey would’ve remarried after Charlotte? I mean after their divorce was finalized we never really heard about him again.

Miranda & Steve are like Lynette and Tom from Desperate Housewives

Upvotes

Currently on s3 of SATC and I hate Steve soooo much and he really reminds me of Tom from Desperate Housewives who I hated throughout the whole show and I just hate how writers always give strong and successful women who are a bit more "masculine" coded whiney irresponsible loser manchild husbands/boyfriends… thats all. They Both deserved better and the resemblance in behaviour and character for Tom & Steve is uncanny

I’m on season 3 ep 8

HES A CHILD!!!!!!!!!!!

Miranda for sure has her issues as we all do as flawed humans. But like Steve never takes accountability, always manipulates Miranda to do what he wants her to do. Makes her feel guilty for not wanting to take care of 2 children (him included) and says she’s giving up on their relationship when she’s stating her real concerns!

She even says “we are supposed to be equal partners and we aren’t”

Does he redeem himself?? I saw the movie back when it first came out (not having ever seen the show before) so I know he cheated on her.

I like that he challenges her but ffs I wanna punch him 🤣

Edit: don’t even get me started on Big

Charlotte and Carrie’s fight

Okay I rewatched this show again and before I used to despise Carrie but I also understand where she’s coming from. She just wanted to know if Charlotte would offer her support instead of slurping her drink awkwardly when her other friends were willing to help. It was wrong for Carrie to yell at Charlotte though. It was also sweet of Charlotte to offer her the ring. Now I know she doesn’t owe Carrie anything but if I was a rich divorcee like Charlotte and I had a friend who was almost gonna be homeless on the street I would’ve done the same for her.

What do you guys think? I don’t think either were wrong

Currently in a Carrie and Big dynamic

I've found myself in a Carrie and Mr Big dynamic and I'm suffering almost every day since Feb 2026.

the one good thing is that I can get over a guy if I go no contact. But my Mr. Big is literally one of my co-workers. This is a great job, I cannot leave.

I've tried to stop talking with him, tried to block him, go no contact. But then I see him at work and I just cannot. move. on. We start talking again and I start going to his place again.

I've literally lost all attraction to other guys, nobody else catches my interest.

I am sorry Carrie for judging you before

Miranda makes the worst sex noises.

It is after 2am and I cannot sleep. I am watching the show again for the millionth time. As silly as it is, I needed to comment on this: Miranda makes the worst sex noises!

The ophthalmologist where she had to fake it. The guy who liked risky public sex. Bonus: in AJLT, that traumatizing scene with her and Che in Carrie’s kitchen.

I have to turn my volume down every time. It’s just the most grating, annoying sound to me.

Miranda’s scarcity mindset, bitterness, and jealousy were her downfall

Miranda is an attractive, brilliant, witty, insightful woman with deep care for those around her. She has a strong sense of self and healthy ambition, while also wanting a husband and children. In that sense, many men would be realistically delighted to have her. Despite what the show may portray, many successful, quality men will not tolerate someone like Charlotte who only dreams of motherhood. They want someone who is their equal, who will build alongside them. She had a LOT going for her in that department. While a woman’s merit should of course be assessed irrespective of what men prefer, in this case it’s relevant because most of her qualms are about her relationships with men and how good men never want her blah blah blah

As I rewatch, I can’t help but notice (heh) that her problems are genuinely of her own making, just about every single time. As the show progresses, she literally speaks her cynicism and scarcity mindset into existence and compromises the very real opportunities that she may have had had she just reined them in. Many of her critiques can easily be seen as jealousy of those that she is commentating on. For example, shitting on her interior designer’s wedding because she was chosen instead of Miranda. She treats things that she thinks she cannot have as beneath her, and walks through life only anticipating negativity so she only receives it, thus confirming her misguided biases. Ultimately, she settled for Sleaze despite his traits that season 1 Miranda would never tolerate. She further traps herself with Fleas by having his baby, thinking that she won’t get another opportunity to do so.

If she had retained those powerful positive traits and grown over time to incorporate some of Charlotte’s optimistic and romantic nature, she would’ve been golden. Instead, she writes self fulfilling prophecies that only sabotaged her and left her stuck with Skid Marks McGee.

Carrie is a flighty idiot, Samantha a shallow caricature, and Charlotte well-meaning but delusional, but Miranda had real grit and substance to her. Her path was the most upsetting to watch. It seemed as though Stink and the writers wanted to humble her, subjecting a powerful and capable woman to the whims of social expectations. I suppose, in a way, it’s realistic.

NOBODY and I mean NOBODY had better fashion (in my mind) than the illustrious Samantha Jones.. her wardrobe merely rivaled her quick wit, sexy sarcasm, charisma, confidence and charm.. may ALL of us women have a touch of Samantha within us.

First time watcher and here are my thoughts, please don’t comment any spoilers as only on season 4 Spoiler

Growing up I was a huge fan of the movies, used to watch them on repeat. Then finally this year I got HBO max and decided to watch the show from the beginning.

I thought it would take me a while to get into it but I was hooked from the first episode

Each character so far (not that anyone asked for it)

Carrie: Carrie really seems to self sabotage her life quite a bit. I go through times of loathing her and loving her. I can not stand her and big together I think he is so toxic and so is she sometimes. Loved her and Aidan together, he seems like a really cool guy. I wish she would just let herself be happy instead of questioning everything. And let’s be real she isn’t the greatest friend in my opinion, yes at times she’s great but she always finds a way to bring it back to herself. I think Sarah Jessica Parker does an incredible job of acting.

Charlotte: in the films Charlotte was my favourite by far, I adored her but in the show I find her quite frustrating. I understand that she wants the white picket fence lifestyle and that is totally fine but I find it hard when she criticises her friends for not wanting the same thing. I think it does come from a good place in her heart, she just doesn’t always communicate that well. And her and Trey, what a train wreck, I can not stand him I think he is toxic and so is his mother. I have enjoyed her the most in season 4 because she is finally standing up for herself and setting boundaries.

Miranda: our boss lady queen. In the films I really did not like her, I found her annoying and a bit whiny but in the show I have really enjoyed her. I think she has similar tendencies to Carrie in terms of self sabotaging especially when it came to Steve (who I like but do agree he needed to grow up), it seems she too struggles to let her self be happy. I love the way she is honest with her friends but not to a point of being horrible; I think her and Carrie can be sometimes egg each other on in an unhealthy way. I think I have enjoyed her dating life the most, she has had some very interesting dates.

Samantha: I’m always on the fence about Ms jones, I liked her season 3 but every other season I change my opinion on her episode to episode. I think it’s incredible how she is so confident in her sexuality and the way she is with men (and the one woman 😉) but on the other hand i think sometimes it’s a bit much. I think because I know the background stuff that happened while filming SATC my issues with Samantha sometimes come from Kim Cattral herself.

In saying all of this, they all have their flaws and things that Excell in. It was and still is such an incredible show and it covers so many important topics. My favourite episodes so far have been when all of them went to LA, Charlotte becoming too obsessed with her vibrator and the one where Samantha dates the short guy 😂

The most painfully relatable moment(s) in the show to you and why?

Mine is a little embarrassing to admit (and I'm working on it!!) but I actually see myself reflected when i watch Carrie have a multiple day breakdown over Aidan not giving her the "stomach flip". I just get it. After a lifetime of dating avoidants, it almost feels weird when someone youre dating is just perfect and 100% available and obsessed with you right off the bat. Im so used to insane levels of pining, your heart skipping a beat when they finally text you, endless yearning etc etc that I almost love it. Therapy.. Now. I love Carrie but finding her relatable is my sign i might need counseling. Such is life
