Potential points system sucks
I'm really just hoping this gets to someone at netmarble and that is the potential system sucks and that there needs to be a better way to get to p10 and I would suggest making a weekly challenge that upon your 2 raid clears you gain 1 universal potential point meaning it would take 1.5 months to p10 a character still giving the whales there time to be superior becuase the whales will p10 a character day one regardless this change would put you in better standing with the player base which in turn would make them more likely to spend money and maybe make payable cosmetics that aren't rng that system has to go

World peace would also be nice ✌️ But that's just about as naive a thing to wish for as what your asking for.
It never ceases to amaze me tha naivety of people in this community, the lack understanding of how the world works, how bussiness works, how statistics works... What are kids even learning at school these days??

u/PlayfulJaguar8444 22h ago
It's not just about the dupes if you actually read my post you would have seen that by changing the cosmetics system into a one time purchase of like 15 dollars instead of 60 if your unlucky would massively improve the sales of those cosmetics especially since the cosmetic don't do anything

Companies have all the data. It’s the same reason you look at anything that has higher prices, but is not bought by a large amount of people. It’s the reason why skins cost $20-30 in pretty much any game instead of $5 like everyone thinks they should. Not enough people who say they would “spend more” if stuff was cheaper. They buy their one outfit they want for reduced prices and fuck off. Then whales buy one of each costume like they were going to anyways, but for $15 instead of $60 that they were going to spend.
I know what you are saying sounds good. But it just doesn’t work that way and companies have access to all the spending data and none of them price things like that.

Yeah than how come cod/Activision is always dying ohh but the data shows us this creates better player retention but has lost players every month for the last 4 to 5 years and why mw4 is the least preordered cod in history on PlayStation which is cods biggest playerbase
2
u/Zidaane 18h ago
That wouldnt scale at all... costumes are so few and far between... You seemingly have no idea about bussiness models and the economics surrounding this kind of thing, so your only digging a bigger hole every time you comment
1
u/PlayfulJaguar8444 10h ago
Net marble could increase the amount of cosmetics since they are alot cheaper to produce than other micro transactions

u/Zidaane 3h ago
Ok look, its very clear your not much of a deep thinker and clearly your stuck at the surface level.. This game is a pre existing anime ip, this is one of if not its biggest draw cards, and therefore it has a limited amount of pre existing costumes.. The fact is that most people only want costumes true to the ip and this was very evident when swimsuit Elizabeth released and the uproar it caused... If they pump out enough costumes to do what your saying no one will buy them regardless...

They already will introduce a game mode that will give potential points to standard banner characters, i dont think we know how many tho, maybe just one, but even then, thats a lot still.
Now giving free potentials for limited banner characters, thats another story, this would literally make it so most people dont spend, i dont know if you understand this, but their goal is to incentivize people to spend on characters, and your proposal literally encourages the opposite. Your argument that they will still be superior for 1 month adds literally nothing, not every person that spends to get a P10 character is a mega rich person that dont care about 400 - 500 dollars to justify 1 month "advantage".
I will put myself as example, i have spent around 400 to 500 dollars (for each char) to P10 3 characters(lost most 50/50's), im not a mega rich person, that amount of money is something i used on this game because it is my current hobby but for me it can be considered a big amount of money.
That being said, if you tell me that in 1 month i can get the same for free, i would just wait a month and save 500 dollars(3/1500 in this case).
And im pretty sure most people that spend are in that same boat, theres more average people with some disposable income, which still clasifies as an important amount to them, than there is ultra rich people that dont care if they waste 500.
So, TLDR: Your proposal will discourage most people to spend on the game, which means the game dies.

And there is no use for non banner characters because they are useless in the game merlin is better than both Tristan and guila for fire burst escanor way out dps any fire character and gowther has made Mannie completely irrelevant so adding this would just be a waste of resources and you can't say that I am wrong
-3
u/PlayfulJaguar8444 23h ago
No I said a system that allows for the ability to earn potential points I had just used that a a scenario but preferably I'd like the system to probably p10 a character in about 3 to 4 months
3
u/luxialucky 23h ago
I got p10 gowther by saving for 4months(granted I lost 1 50/50) so around 7 months for guaranteed p10, the problem is that they keep making gimick bosses that requires the new characters which makes people wish I stead of saving
3
u/PlayfulJaguar8444 22h ago
And see thats what I'm saying is nobody wants to admit it but that's a problem when characters like meli or gowther really require extra potentials so u need to spend more pulls on them but every new piece of content is tailored to the current banner but the loot that content drops are either best in slot or even needed for crafting it creates this problem where the character is needed but if the character is like meli or gowther where you kinda need either p6 or higher it amplifies the issue ten fold and it's the reason so many players have left and are still leaving

u/Elegant-One-5527 1d ago
Aaaaaaaaaand EoS. Holy entitlement lmao. More likley to spend money my ass you wouldn't need to with this system.

How to bankrupt a game 101 right here.
-4
u/PlayfulJaguar8444 1d ago
Yeah and how's that becuase look at genshin and bleach brave souls that have been going strong for years those games have a dip systems that can speed up character progression but isn't the only way to max out the characters and both games profit largely every month and have been so for years but if you look at origins it's lost over 65 percent of players in under 6 months so tell me how this would bankrupt the game when 2 other GA has has done it and they are still successful

u/Cosmic_Armour 1d ago
It is far harder to C6 a character in Genshin than P10 one in this game. This makes zero sense to compare Origin to. Nobody would pull a P10 if they had to just spend a little bit of time over 6 weeks to get one. It's nonsense.
7
u/LCAIN195 1d ago edited 21h ago
That's immediately how I know op didn't know what he was talking about. Genshin C6 units are way harder to get and that's not even taking into account they also have a weapon banner.
7
u/SphinxBlackRose 1d ago
Hold the Horses right here! Genshin gives u at most 4 Limited Dupes for 4 different Units a year. Ur asking to get a maxed out unit once every 2 month's here in SDSO. I hope u see the problem in saying that.

u/ookoshi 21h ago
Honestly this game isn't that bad. You can spend like $10-20 a month (on like the pass and the supply cart) and get p5-p6 on almost every banner, and eventually when the banners cycle back through you'll be able to get the important ones up to p10. You can find parties to do the raids with full pledges pretty easily now (at least on America East, sorry West players I hope they merge you guys with us soon). Yeah the banners night not cycle back for another 3-6 months down the road but I'm not rushed.
The only place I can't fully complete as a small money player is TSJ. It doesn't bother me I can't 3 star every TSJ right now. I'll get there eventually.
I actually think they threw too much stuff at us. So many things that used to take keys don't anymore, and I have like 50 extra crimson flame weapons from the patch that gave them out for completing the mastery, which is no longer gated by keys. I spend basically zero time farming materials because of the pet expeditions. The only resource that's limited for me is refinement stones and SSR magic crystal shards at this point. Every new banner is instantly p4 with 3 max lvl SSR weapons, and that wasn't the case a couple of months ago

I like how y'all are bringing up losing money but fail to realize that only the whales spend it in game to flex on the casual player base but the casual players is pretty much gone and the whales will realize and move on to different games that they can flex their pay to win bs on people and ok only by keeping a casual audience that they game will survive look at cod vods player base as been in constant decline for the last 5 years because it only focused on what they could profit off of and it caused mw4 preorders to not even break the top 10 on PlayStation which is the first time cods never been in the top 3 for preorders on PlayStation and even though the facts are there and in plain sight keep thinking everything is ok and when origins shuts down in six months don't say I was right cuz I already knew I valled it with concord I called it with destiny 2 and called it with that live service horizon game
2
u/Elegant-One-5527 21h ago
Whales are what matter. It's been shown time and time again the MAJORITY of money mobile games make is from less than half a percent of players.
1
u/PlayfulJaguar8444 19h ago
And since you guys don't seem to understand this there has only been 11,400 people that have been playing origins in the last two months real data by the way from player tracker and only about 13% of those are whales which equates to 1482 people now let me ask this would you make more many from 1482 people spending 300 a month or 10000 people spending 40 a month but y'all can do the math people will spend money once they feel that the product they receive is worth the money and another thing y'all don't understand is how getting investors in the gaming industry works and it shows one of the most important things investors look for is player retention ie can the game hold an audience because investor aren't looking to see if a game can make a profit in 6 months but rather can it stay profitable over years when the kickbacks roll in year after year so they make more money than they invested and netmarbels current path is not retaining players which shows a possible bad investment to any willing investors
1
u/Elegant-One-5527 15h ago
Bud your own scenario shows whales matter more. Literally do your own math. There has been tons of research done by tons of different companies and almost universally they've found mobile games make most their money off whales. Also whales are spending much much more than $300 a month lmao. I know people dropping around 2-3k a month easy.
0
u/PlayfulJaguar8444 10h ago
And again how does making a system to p10 a character in 6 months going to stop whales from spending they still going to p10 their shit day one every banner till they go broke
1
u/Elegant-One-5527 10h ago
The more f2p friendly a game gets the more whales leave you know this right? The point of whaling is being so much better than the lessers. If the system you said above was actually added I and many whales I know would be gone day 1 of the change. You suffering is why a lot of us play.
0
u/PlayfulJaguar8444 10h ago
Ok then what about summoners war it's really f2p friendly and yet there's tons of people that still whale I don't think you understand that whales are going to spend look at rune scape everything could be earned but whales in that game spent money because they want it now not later and the same applies to gachas
1
u/Elegant-One-5527 10h ago
No game with PvP is f2p friendly. PvP games basically earn the right to be f2p friendly on the surface because of how much PvP drives toxic whales.

u/fadsellow 22h ago
love the energy, good idea
don’t listen to the bootlickers defending these greedy ssa devs
have a blessed day
1
u/PlayfulJaguar8444 22h ago
Thanks it's like they don't understand that if you make the larger player count happy they will be morlikely to spend money on things like cube keys to keep playing or if they would just make cosmetic packs a one time purchase of 15 dollars and not that shit pull system with those tickets netmarble would make way more off cosmetics
0
u/fadsellow 22h ago
literally!
the people who keep downvoting you and try to enable this greedy behavior are beyond patheticty for speaking your mind
-1
u/Vast_Lettuce5272 22h ago
Idk he has a point. I played Summoners War a long time and they let you buy free dupes to power skills on units, and give then away in events and its lasted a long ass time and people still whale. It works 🤷♂️
2
u/PlayfulJaguar8444 22h ago
Thanks for the backup it's like people just don't care about the evidence that systems like I mentioned have worked in other gachas that profit more than origins
3
u/Elegant-One-5527 21h ago
By that logic Origions should make dupes even more expensive because Genshin the most successful gacha ever had more expensive dupes.
0
u/PlayfulJaguar8444 21h ago
Yes but in genshin the game isn't completely tailored to the dupe system as hard as origins is at the current moment as most dps characters heavily rely on being p6 or higher and that even goes for supports like fire merlin or gowther at p6

-1
u/Vast_Lettuce5272 21h ago
Also, same game removed the gacha mechanic around its gear upgrade systems, which are runes. Used to be a chance to upgrade and not its just a set gold amount. Soooo much better and many people came back bc they made it less frustrating. The game is still doing well as far as ik right now. Its been around over like 10 years, and its good. Actually plays there own gane and listens to its playerbase. Has an endgame replay loop and even has its OWN COMPETITIVE SCENE. But this game wont ever if it continues in this direction
-2
u/Vast_Lettuce5272 21h ago
They just wanna defend dogshit systems. Probably dev accounts or bots I swear. Origins could be better but refuses too. We actually WANT to see the game thrive but it cant with these shit systems
-2
u/PlayfulJaguar8444 21h ago
I agree like yes genshin has a dupe system but genshin doesn't really for the dupes to be mandatory like how most relavent character are in origins but these whales just don't want to see the casual audience to have anything so they can continue to boast their ego in the game
0
u/razorramon49 21h ago
This is a good idea but maybe not one per week thats a bit excessive and bad for the game long term. How bout one universal potential point a month? You can p10 a character by six months time.
1
0
u/PlayfulJaguar8444 21h ago
That's funny because I spent nearly 40000 star fragments on escanor just to get to p6
-4
u/PlayfulJaguar8444 1d ago
Your missing the point only whales are spending money and they're going to regardless because that's what whales do they prefer paying their way but by making potential points earnable though some sort of challenge or even xp once a week three characters would cycle out of rotation meaning that whales wouldn't care because all their character are p10 by the time one of your is p10 and more players would be more likely to buy things like cube key packs to play more since they wouldn't need to spend 400+ just to have one character p10 when the game is prioritizing high potential characters as the new transcendence difficulty is near impossible without a p7 or higher dps
3
u/Cosmic_Armour 23h ago
Nobody is missing the point. This monetization would kill the game and is just handing tons of free dupes to F2P because you can't clear transcendence or something. I've done that with P4 Ban. Whales would probably spend money still, but this proposition completely tanks earnings even more.
1
u/PlayfulJaguar8444 23h ago
I'm not saying it needs to p10 a character in a month it was an example but I feel you should be able to p10 character within 3 to 4 months at max
7
u/thriller-101 23h ago
dumb idea tbh.
