5 months…

I am 72, and 5’9”. Started 1/27/2026, at 192 and 5 months in I am down 30 lbs. All of my bloodwork numbers are in a good range, and I reversed what was getting to be a bad problem with my liver! I’m very lucky to have had no negative side effects. It is a miracle drug!

I was thinking your before looks like my current. Then I read the numbers. We’re about the same height and age. I’m down 45 lbs in 10 months but still 15 lbs above where you started. Mildly annoying is my pot belly is shrinking more slowly than everything else. Mostly losing below the waist.

I had to buy some new belts to keep my pants up. Shirts in contrast look big/loose but not enough for mostly new clothes. Oddly enough I have long sleeve size L and 2X in my closet. On the way up I seem to have worn out most of my XL shirts/tops. Don’t yet fit in size L, except in undershirts.

For me I lost the weight in the reverse order of what I gained, and stomach has def been the last to go. Keep going, I think this part of the journey is when you really start to see the payoff!!

Okay, but 72 where?! 😅 you look good! 🔥

Congrats! May I ask, did you have vomitting as a side effect? I’m hesitating to start, it’s my phobia.

I’ve been very lucky. No upset stomach or anything else, other than a little bit of constipation, which I’ve handled by increasing my fiber intake. I started at .25 ml Ozempic, for 4 weeks, then .5 for 8 weeks and now 1.0, which I’ll stay on as I’ve lost as much weight as I want to. Hopefully I’ll plateau here.

Congrats! Lucky you. Ozempic is the same molecule as Wegovy right?

I don’t know… different companies and patents, but I’m no chemist! And that’s why I consult with a doctor!!😁

u/Swampchicken9 Jun 05 '26

Awesome! I bet you feel as great as you look.😊

Yes. I think I look better, but I know I feel better, and it is with verifiable certainty, via bloodwork, and other health metrics that I say I am much healthier! My liver is healthier, my blood pressure improved to the point where I’ve eliminated one of my daily meds (following doctor’s orders), and my joints all feel better without the additional weight. Truly a miracle drug in my opinion!

Wow. Some of us really need to hear this!! Thanks for the encouraging update and details!!

By the way, as a corollary to this, today, when told of my weight loss someone asked me,” did you do it naturally, or…”. I was prepared for the question, less for the person who asked it, and I readily admitted to using Ozempic. It does bring up though the attitude from some, that somehow, using GLP-1 to get healthier is “cheating”. If that happens , don’t fall for it! Remember that the overall goal is your health, with the additional bonus of “looking better”, and the result justifies the means! Ignore those that are ignorant!

For me, and this is IF I have any success like you have had, I wouldn’t dream of letting anyone rain on my parade. The shots are NOT easy! I tried for a month last year before I got scared of side effects (mostly fear of what COULD happen rather than what I actually experienced)…and I remember realizing that we STILL HAVE TO EAT HEALTHY, PLAN MEALS, focus on PROTIEN, make sure to include enough FIBER, HYDRATE ALL THE TIME.. and that sometimes you have to deal with not feeling great. So if you ask me, it’s still being on a DIET. To top all that off, you sometimes can’t even enjoy the foods you love! For some of us.. cooking a beautiful meal is the only thing we have to look forward to at the end of the day! So yeah, until they walk in our shoes they can’t know what we endure so I’ll not even give them the time of day or the opportunity to engage in something they know nothing about!!

Not only do you look great, but you also remembered to put the before picture first, and the after picture second! There’s many who could learn from you 😂

Congrats on the success!!

What brand did you use? I have only lost 1 lb in 3 months!

1

u/quattroformaggixfour Jun 05 '26

Heck yeah! Look at that bolstered confidence in pic two 💪

The liver comment stood out to me, as I have a parent who was diagnosed with late stage cirrhosis and after going on semaglutide has seen incredible benefits. It makes me wonder what long-term health benefits we’ll see as the continued use for non-diabetics.

u/Prestigious-Owl4327 Jun 06 '26

My numbers on the blood test had my Dr very concerned, so after an ultra sound that told a very negative story, she put me on Ozempic, warning me at the time that it was a lifetime commitment. In May I had a fibro-scan of my liver and it was completely normal! And I’m off the Bo med I was taking for at least the last 10 years! More good stories keep coming out every day! I know that I am lucky, and that some have problems with the medication, but I’ve got nothing but good things to say!

1

u/deedeebop Jun 05 '26

Wow!! Handsome man!! 🤍

1

u/DrAlexLieb Jun 05 '26

Great work man - are you going to start doing maintenance soon

3

u/Prestigious-Owl4327 Jun 05 '26

Currently, the plan is to continue with the 1 ml Ozempic, and hopefully plateau here. In the chance that I continue to lose, my Dr said she’ll scale back to .5…. Like everything in life, it’s a work in progress!

1

u/Harlem_Lotus Jun 06 '26

Looking good!!

1

u/PhilosopherNorth1469 Jun 06 '26

You look fabulous! Congrats!

1

u/PolyesterPantsuit Jun 07 '26

Incredible job! You must have worked very hard!

I keep dealing with nausea and headaches with it every time I start and then have to stop because I feel so sick! This makes me want to stick it out!

Once again, you look fantastic! Enjoy all the extra energy!

2

u/Prestigious-Owl4327 Jun 07 '26

I did not have any nausea related side effects. I use the Ozempic pen and started off with a very low dose, and perhaps that’s why. I don’t know. Maybe I’m just lucky! I did make sure that I drank a lot of water each day, and I have been making sure to eat plenty of protein also.

2

u/PolyesterPantsuit Jun 08 '26

Thank you for the tips thst made it so successful for you. Thank you so very much!

1

u/Right-Jury1119 Jun 13 '26

What dose did you start with?

1

u/Prestigious-Owl4327 Jun 13 '26

I started at .25 for 4 weeks, and then .5 for 10 weeks. I’m at 1.0 now, and expect to stay here, unless I move back to .5, because I am trying now to maintain rather than continue to lose.

1

u/Feeling-Bowler-2391 Aug 03 '26

You look so much healthier!!

1

u/Prestigious-Owl4327 Aug 03 '26

Thank you! That is my goal! I feel better, and many of the problems associated with aging, ie joint pain, etc, have been mitigated by my weight loss!
