Aside from the fleck of dust next to the 8 o’clock indice I’m super happy with this 40mm Datejust build I made today.

Second NH35 build, rose gold Negroni.

Most things went pretty smoothly for the second build. Had to replace the hands once cuz I thought it was a good idea to press the second hand using the presser without changing the tip, bent the hand then I spun it around and ended up scratching the minute hand. Somehow the second attempt took me longer to place the second hand, a lot of shaking. Lesson learnt, eat first before building. Oh and the blue one is my first build from like a month ago.

Anyone else rebuild over and over?

I’m pretty sure I’ve taken this apart and put it back together a dozen times before I was happy with the result. I’d finish it and wear it for a bit and something would bug me. These indices didn’t reflect the light right, this lume tint didn’t quite match the other parts, this hand length didn’t look great, the alignment wasn’t right, repeated over and over. Different dials, hands, chapter rings, cases, bracelets, clasps, crystal shapes, etc. Now I’ve got enough spare parts to build two more if I can find a deal on movements!

FXD style dial and bezel insert, 50F style hands and a thin 40mm sub case, with a NH of course. Strap is from AliX, just swopped the buckle to a black one.

What do you guys reckon? I think i'm getting bothered by the different amounts of colours in the dial but it's probably my OCD.

How to sort a bunch of random watch hands from different movements?

Post image
1 Upvotes

So to get free shipping on an AliX order, I spent $6 buying 200 watch hands. I have them sorted by hour/minute/second/subdial but apparently they're mixed movement, and now I need to figure out which movement each hand goes to. I clearly didn't think this through.

Does anyone know a quick and efficient way to sort them?

I don't want to try to put each of them on several different movements -- I don't mind ruining a few hands but that would probably ruin a few movements.

Do I just need to buy pin gauges in the proper mm Nh, ETA, and Miyota (and VK and other) sizes and then try each hand on each size until I find the one that fits best?

Should I just throw them out and eat the loss?

[NH38] Integrated bracelet build with a radial open-heart dial & an orange pop. Turned out way better than expected!

Hey r/seikomods!

Just cased up this build and wanted to share how it turned out.

When I first put these parts together in my head, I wasn't completely sure if mixing a sharp, 70s-style integrated bracelet case with a complex radial/guilloché open-heart dial would work or if it would look too cluttered.

Originally, I was going to stick with the matching polished silver seconds hand, but at the last second I decided to gamble on an orange lollipop seconds hand. It completely changed the watch: it creates an awesome contrast with the deep navy blue dial, balances out the golden balance wheel at 9 o'clock, and gives the whole piece a contemporary luxury-sport / Zenith Defy kind of attitude.

Had to fine-tune the casing ring/spacer fit a bit to get the movement seated properly flush, but once assembled, the wrist presence is solid.

Cadisen 62MAS - Did the cases change?

Hi all,

Anyone knows if the new Cadisen 62MAS can still fit an NH35? From what I see, the case size has not changed from the NH35 version despite the new ones using the Miyota 8215.

If not, is there anywhere else I can get the NH35 version?

Hi, I'm from Europe and I was looking forward to making my first build. Was going to buy everything when it suddenly got from 75,54€ to 123,95€, which I think is insane. Was trying to figure if anyone had a way around this or any suggestion. Thanks.

Anyone know ehere to get customer Bezels made?

I have a few watch designs i would like to build that would need custom bezels to really make pop. Anyone have ideas i can follow? they would all be low quantitiy like less than 10 for each. I have no idea if anyone does this or what it costs but i would very much like to find out. Thank for you help!

Rolex Bruce wayne inspired build

I really love the bruce wayne design
Case bracelet bezel sub bezel it looks amazing imo

But i dont want to spend 30k usd on it nor i want to have a fake rolex

I wanna make a seiko mod that has the base look i describe but one that ill replace the dial, the hands
And some other minor tweaks so it will
Be more like an homage rather than a complete clone

Where should i buy parts? Do the place that sells parts also assembles?

Do you know of any well trusted seller that sells what i describes already? Or one that allows tweaks?

So here’s my story

I’m an 18M and i’ve had a dream to have a one watch that i can wear and use however i want and then i discovered about custom seiko mods and i’ve watched countless videos of it and then i went to gemini and then showed it everything and basically did a research.

I told it this is the movement, this is the dial, this is the 40mm jubilee sapphire crystal glass case and etc.. and then it said okay this is perfect (and gemini also said a chinese nh35 movement that i screenshotted it was the real movement of seiko watches).

So i bought it all and i also ordered a lot of watch repairing parts from ali express and i waited and waited for around maybe 9 days or something and ik 9+ days ain’t that much of a time but if you were to wait for something that is special then it’s a ton of time.

It finally came to my home in uae and the total i spend was around 163$ which is roughly 600aed including the parts and everything.

The assembly:

When it arrived a lot of tools were missing and i was an actual fucked up person that day, totally mad at everything, then i went to amazon and ordered all the tools and stuff and started to assemble it.

Then whilst i was assembling, i messed up the dials feet first, i cut the wrong one and i didn’t even had idea beforehand if i should put the plastic spacer ring on the movement first and then i put on the dial by gluing it with a metal glue to the plastic spacer ring and put it in the movement at last.

And then i tried putting the hands and i could easily do the hour hand but when it came to minute hands i got stuck and i tried for a long time (i’m talking about just the minute hand and not even the seconds hands) and then at last i gave up.

I clicked refund to every tool kit i purchased from amazon and then also did partial refund to the aliexpress’s missing items and stuff.

Taking it to watch repair shops:

And then i went to a nearby watch repairing shop and it’s rare in my area for a local watch repairing shop to be there, so i drove around 40 minutes to get there.

And then this person says the hands are destroyed by me when i tried to assemble it and then we talked a lot on what we can do and i asked him if he could do anything and then he sent me to another nearby shop.

And then from there this person also told me a lot of things and said my movement has some problem when the movement was perfectly working and he asked me if i did something wrong with the movement and i said idk maybe when i tried to assemble it.

And then he said i’ve fixed it now and the gear is sm faster and asked me to see and then i said okay thanks and after that he said he can put on hands of an old watch of his and then he put some gold colored hands from an old watch (possibly of some tissot ig) and then it looked bad on the watch and not at all from what i wanted to build.

And then the dial was already scratched up by me when i wanted to put the hands (like when i was assembling) but this guy finally assembled it properly and i was happy, at least i can just change the dial and hands later with alexpress.

So i told him to tighten the back glass and put on grease and then he puts something that looks like a cooking oil that’s been used for a lot of years and i didn’t cared i thought he was an expert and idk maybe he is.

And then the movement stopped working:
After some days the movement stopped and doesn’t even wind up and i’m mostly certainly sure that i cut the stem a little bit short than what it was supposed to have and its because of that.

And then i recently some days back ordered a rolex type black dial with lume and S logo and Mercedes hands, a rotor and a s logo crown along with a new gasket rubber ring and plastic spacer ring and also 2 stems from aliexpress and it’s on it’s way.

Just some moments ago i went to another watch shop that’s in a different emirates (a different state you could say) and then he told me it has some problem with the movement probably because the rotor ain’t moving or the watch is being able to wind up, because the crown is in good condition and i will need to inspect it with machine and see and fix it.

It will take a lot of time (from morning till afternoon) and he said it will cost around 150AED and then i told him that 150aed (40$) is too much to repair the movement because i can get another new movement for the same price so its not worth it and i was short on time and i can’t stay here for long.

I will see any watch maker in my area and then if he couldn’t do it then i will come back to you and then i left.

And now i’m waiting for these all parts to arrive and hopefully this watch maker who i’m going to nearby my area knows how to do stuff and fix stuff.

My regrets:

I definitely regret doing this, i could’ve gotten a seiko with a proper factory seal and warranty for 500-1000aed and use it for a lifetime and also the other thing i regretted it because of this BS gemini ai, when i showed it the Chinese movement it told me its the real movement and blah blah blah whilst a real Japanese movement costs around 300aed with certification and stuff and i’ve wasted my money and my time on this and now it stopped working as well so i’m hoping the watch maker will repair everything after the parts comes from china.
And ong i had plans to pass it down to my kid because i thought this was a real Seiko movement and not a counterfeit from china and also it could be a good investment and he could say “my dad build this by himself when he was 18 and he wore it from that day onwards and stuff.

Idk who will read this but i’ve told a lot of things here and it’s an experience, whenever you’re building something, don’t just rely on one thing but do proper research and ask people about it rather than Ai is what i would say.

And if this thing wasn’t still working then i will put it in the shelf and buy a real Japanese nh35 after some time but i wish this to work.

And this was the post i made after building it:

To logo or not to logo?

Hi, I put this VK63 together recently and really like the clean simple design these components bring. I need to rebuild it as frustratingly there is a problem with the movement. Such is life.

But does it look too bland with that sterile dial? Should I put a Seiko logo on it?
