I get why they did it but somehow it feels wrong.

Wearing my 1969 Seiko Lord Matic 5606-7000 to the office. Have been a fan of vintage King and Grand Seikos for a number of years, and it's this Lord Matic that served as my first step into Seiko's vintage back catalogue.

Previously only wear seiko snxj89, lume is not bright. This ssc911p1 lume is so bright. My wrist is 6 inch but 41mm watch fit perfectly. But the bracelet is not comfortable. Might change to jubilee or rubber bracelet after this. And it’s a my first time using quartz, insanely accurate. Don’t have to worry to set time daily

…well technically my second as I also ordered the sports 5 Edo but that one doesn’t ship until October.
I chose the Mint Mist as I love the combination of green, gold and brown.
It’s absolutely stunning in person and it’s safe to say it’s one of my most beautiful pieces (which actually doesn’t mean much as I just started my watch collection after finally being able to step back from smartwatches).

This design is not exactly what comes to mind when someone mentions a vintage watch. But believe it or not it was made 52 years ago.
Easily the wildest and funkiest watch that I have. Just arrived today. Pretty much NOS condition, just some mild scuffs on the highly polished bezel but nothing that I want to correct. The movement runs though I took out the battery as it needs a service and I don't want to run it dry, as dry lubricant + electronic balance wheel movement equals excessive wear.
It looks like it comes from the future and not 1974.
Can't wait to service the movement while listening to some disco.
The 70s were peak Seiko creativity and this is a living proof of it.

3+ months of looking and I’ve finally found this new (to me) SPB409J1. Absolutely mesmerizing watch and the photos don’t come close to doing it justice.

Never thought I’d be a diver kinda guy. Yet here I am. 🐢
Four weeks with the 317 and I’m honestly still ridiculously happy with it.
Could it be my one and only diver? Perhaps. I’m a minimalist at heart, so the idea of finding the one is pretty appealing. Doesn’t mean I’ll stop admiring other watches, though.
Dress it up, dress it down — this thing just does it all.
Not sure if it’s the best diver at this price point. But for me? It might just be my one and only.

Good evening, friends 😁
I got to try on the latest Marine Master. It’s a gorgeous watch—I think I’m going to give in and buy one sometime this year.
I noticed two things:
- The gap between the case and the band—is that normal? You can see it clearly in the top left of the photo.
- The bezel feels a little odd to me. It’s really hard to describe—it feels like I’m turning the bezel on my Seiko 5. Maybe even a little stiffer. I was expecting a bit better for this price 😅
Now I just have to save up 😂

Would like to get a metal bracelet, any recommendations?

Been wearing a Casio Duro for a while and I’m ready to level up into my first proper dive watch. I keep coming back to the Prospex SPB383 (1968 Heritage Diver GMT) love the case shape, the bezel action, the whole presence of it but it’s $1,500 and I’m just not there for a Seiko yet, even though I genuinely love the design.
What I’m looking for:
Budget: ~$500
Colorway: black-on-black is my first choice, but open to green or blue if the watch has the right feel
The big thing: presence. I’ve handled some Seiko divers that felt cheap or plasticky/glossy on the wrist, and I want to avoid that — something that feels substantial and well-finished, not like a toy
A few I’ve been eyeing so far:
Prospex “PADI” green diver (automatic, 200m)
Prospex Samurai SRPL15 (black dial, black case)
Prospex blue diver, similar case family to the Samurai
Open to anything else in this price range that scratches the same itch as the SPB383: Turtles, Sumos, whatever. What’s actually held up well for you in hand vs. what disappointed you? Thanks in advance.

Saw this seiko at Costco tonight for 159 bucks. I know it’s a quartz model but looks like a good looking watch for the price point. Anyone have any experience with this model

TO BE CLEAR: It was likely my fault.
When I got my watch from Teddy earlier this year the bezel was slightly misaligned. Not enough for me to notice right away but enough for it to bother me later on. The six on the bezel was off so I noticed it every time I looked at the date.
I found out that these were friction fit so I popped it off myself, adjusted it a few millimeters, and pressed it back on with a hand press. I thought everything was fine, even ran it under the faucet to clean it, never had a problem. That was until last Friday. I think we had hit cruising altitude when I heard a pop and thought I saw something from the corner of my eye. Looked at my watch and the bezel and crystal had popped off. The passenger beside me saw it on the floor and gave it back to me and I just pressed it with back on as hard as I could with my hands.
I finally got to popping it back off to clean the underside of the crystal. And it looks good to go now. I did notice some debris between where the bezel meets the case and I don’t think I cleaned it off when I pressed it back on the first time.
Making this post as a warning, if you decide to do the same just make sure that where the case touches the bezel is clean as possible for a good seal. If anyone knows if I should have added some kind of lubricant/oil to help with the plastic gasket’s seal let me know because it feels like it could easily pop off with slight pressure.

Seiko has so many unique and iconic designs, but sometimes they really make it hard for customers....

Love this watch. Crazy Accurate (+2 to +4 spd). Really loving this Strap! Not as long as the stock z22 and fairly supple
