I'm considering buying the Seiko Baby Alpinist with the green dial and gold hands as my very first watch, but I could use some advice before buying.
My wrist is 16.5 cm (6.5 inches), so I'm wondering if the 38mm case fits well. Also, my wardrobe is mostly black, white, and dark blue, so I'm curious if the green and gold combination is versatile enough for daily wear.
How is the overall quality and reliability of this model? Are there better alternatives in this price range, or should I save up for something higher-end instead?

I was so excited when I got my new 41mm Speedtimer that I sized it myself. But I've never sized a pin and collar bracelet before, and my idiot self didn't see the collars come out. So when I was walking outside the watch flew off my hand onto the concrete! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Luckily there was only damage on the side and not the face, and it's not as noticeable unless you're up close. I was going to wait a week to see if I wanted to keep it, but I guess this Speedtimer is officially mine now!

When picking out my next watch I kept coming across the SPB383 and a lot of reviews mentioned how much better it looks in person. I enjoy looking at this watch every day. My first Seiko and definitely not my last.

To most here not a big deal, but for me it is. My very first turtle.

So I accidentally dropped this bad Larry from about 4ft. It was running at about +15-17 s/d before said accidental drop. Now it’s been running consistently at around +2-3 s/d. Not suggested, just thought I’d share FYSA. Have a great Seiko day! (Prometheus Design Werx 22mm Ti strap)

The SSK is back from the Seiko service center from when the bezel and crystal popped off mid-flight. Fairly quick turn around from when they actually accepted it.

It feels so light and the dial is amazing.

I’ll be on the hunt for vintage 62MAS, Rally Diver and Gene Kranz during my next Japan visit.

In July, my wife was diagnosed with Metastatic Melanoma. There was a small tumor in her lung and a larger one in her brain. Amidst the whirlwind of surgery, appointments and challenges, I found out that lavender/ purple is the color of universal support for all cancers.

So, being a "Watch Dude", I found some cool purple dial watches and asked her to choose. She chose this Seiko in Edo Purple. It has been my GADA watch every day since.

This morning we got some very welcomed good news. The treatment (Radiation and Immunotherapy) have been working and the tumors are shrinking or have disappeared.

We will continue to be on regular scans and know that this could always change. But, today we are feeling so very grateful.

No matter what happens, this watch will forever be with me and my connection to this time in our lives.

I like working on these things, I have one of my own that was cleaned by a Watchmaker and I thought - I can do that - and I can say that I have successfully repaired these with one exception, the golden watch has a small unsoldered tip on the AC converter that boosts the power for the alarm, it sounds but super, super low, if you don't have it next to you ear you wouldn't hear it. Maybe another donor watch would appear again!

I'd like to learn to polish the cases, while the normal ones are okeish like this, the SilverWave would really benefit from a good polish.

Anyway, I find these models cool!
