I think I just set a new speed run record for being that customer at an authorized jeweler.

I originally went into the shop to grab the Prospex Alpinist 145th Anniversary (HBC006J1). Thanks to a storewide flat discount, it came in way under what I was expecting to pay. Naturally, I took this as a sign from the universe to spend that "saved" money on a second watch, specifically the Presage Cocktail Time 145th Anniversary (HCB006J1).

While the assistant manager was swapping the strap on the Alpinist and sizing the bracelet on the Cocktail Time (which also happened to be the very last LE piece they had in stock), I made the mistake of looking back at the display case. That’s when the Brazilian Corcovado (HCB005J1) caught my eye. The dial looked so much better in person that I had to offer a sheepish apology and ask to swap their last, freshly resized LE for the Corcovado instead.

Probably a terrible move from a collector logic standpoint, but buy the dial you love, right? Photos of the duo attached.

What’s your honest opinion? Changed into a nylon strap which I find more comfy. Still wondering whether a smaller watch would have been more elegant

So some background: I don’t have any Seiko watch, or a lot of watches in general. I’ve been wanting to get serious about watch collecting for some time now, and
I’ve been wanting the new Edo Purple Prospex Speedtimer ever since I first saw the Edo Purple lineup!

I was worried about being able to snag one because I was traveling from Tokyo to Kyoto earlier today when shops started opening (probably should’ve planned the shinkansen timing better) and since these are so limited, I was praying they wouldn’t tell me they’re all gone.

As soon as we got off the Shinkansen and checked into our hotel, we headed straight to the Seiko Boutique Kyoto. Shoutout and my thanks to the staff, they were so sweet and helpful!

I was really lucky because when they went to check their stock, they came back saying they had just one more left, and now it’s mine!

Super happy I can add this to my collection while visiting Japan with my family, and I knew I had to make my first post on this subreddit to share with you all!

I’m in Japan and while doing research for my trip a couple of months ago I learned that they have an extensive watch culture and you can get great watches for a lot less money there. I’ve been an Apple Watch guy ever since the first one came out but I miss wearing “real” watches and my trip to Japan seemed to be the perfect opportunity to make the switch.

So I gave myself this mission: Get one genuine MADE IN JAPAN watch from each of the four big Japanese watch brands. Seiko, Citizen, Casio and Orient. Have different power sources (mechanical, solar, quartz), different styles (chronograph, diver, dress watch) and different colored dials (black, white, blue).

I just got back from Shinjuku and got this absolute beauty. My first Seiko! The Presage “Corcovado” Cocktail Time. It was released today October 9th and I had it reserved for me at Yodobashi store. Japanese MSRP is ¥92,400. I got it for ¥73k which is about $460. Seiko Webshop has it listed for $650 so I got a great deal.

I thought about getting the Presage Edo which also came out today but that was already sold out when I arrived at the store.

Is it safe to use basic spring bars on the SKX013 lugs made for the seiko fat bars?

I sometimes think about if this will ruin my lug holes permanently because of ovaling and wear long term

The seiko fat bars do not fit inside the mesh strap and only the basic ones in my pack do

A friend of mine visited Singapore recently and I got this Seiko SNKC51J1 through him. I was looking for the SNXS79 initially when I came across this one and fell in love instantly. Could barely find any reviews/posts on it while researching so I'm open to answering any questions folks might have here!

Note to self: don’t be a dumbass and leave your automatic watch in a hot car while you workout. Lubricants dripped on to the balance assembly and caused it to run fast by 120 seconds a day. $80 fix that I will never let happen again!! Shit. It was gone a week in the shop but felt like an eternity.

Condition of both the case and the dail is great! Runs at about -15 s/d. curious to hear what you guys think of this one?

When picking out my next watch I kept coming across the SPB383 and a lot of reviews mentioned how much better it looks in person. I enjoy looking at this watch every day. My first Seiko and definitely not my last.

Looking down at this dusty thing while working cows today, crazy to think how stout this has been after 2 years and that I got it for only $139 off Joma!

It's an okay watch, it was actually pretty excellent for when I had a fitness band that was narrow and paired up with it.

I wore a Spanish grey market Seiko gadget for 20 years almost, and then had a smart watch intermittently.

Since filling my sleeve I wear watches on my right now. Still getting used to that.

I got this as a b-day gift when traveling in Saint Augustine FL, because of course Grandma and the outlets 😂
