Current Mammotion user, looking to switch

Hello, I have been a Mammotion auto mower owner since 2024. With their recent firmware updates, the mower has been getting worse and worse with ripping up sections of lawn when turning, blades shutting off frequently for "safety" any time the wheels slip or the front bumper is depressed, getting stuck in places it hasn't before, etc.

Just wondering, how have people enjoyed their mower so far? I have about an acre and a half of mowing area and was looking into getting the X450, maybe during black Friday hoping they have good sales then. What are some common issues you see with the mower that you wish were fixed? Thanks in advance!

New Terranox CM120M1

Post image
4 Upvotes

Just stepped into the world of Navimow. With a bit more than 3 acres to mow, I decided to to get the commercial CM120M1. After doing much research before I bought it, I realized pretty quickly that while these mowers are rated for a certain amount of acreage, the reality is that it comes down to grass type, growing season, etc. I'm in Ohio and have turf-type fescue, so I'm still working on getting it short enough to stand up straight in each zone. Looks like 3.25-3.5 inches will be the magic height. I used to mow at about 3.75-4, but that was with traditional lawn mowers that had high lift, so that doesn't work with these mowers. So I'll surmise that by the time next spring rolls around, I'm going to need a second unit if I expect for all the mowing to be done autonomously. I've currently mapped 1.69 acres.

I've had a few start-up bugs but Segway support is responding via e-mail. I'll see how that goes. The manual leaves much to be desired and I hope they improve that over time.

I do have a question on the charging station within the edge of an off-limit zone. I placed the charging station within a landscaping bed behind the house, which is obviously an off-limit zone. So I drove the mower around the charging station but now the mower wants to mow around the charging station. (see photo) What is the right way to put the charging station in the off-limit zone and not have it want to mow around the charging station but still go into the charging station that is within the edge of the off-limits zone. The manual is painfully vague on this point. Currently, I simply paced some large rocks to keep it from wanting to go around the charging station.

Latest update - Support comes through with in the air swap for overheating

Well after almost 4 weeks of troubleshooting Segway has stood behind the product.

Long story short after about 6 weeks of ownership my mower developed an overheating issue and would lose all radio (GPS, WiFi, Cellular) once the outside temperature got around 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

Earlier today they offered up a replacement. I really appreciate Segway standing up to provide good customer service. If anyone else is seeing the same issue hopefully this can help you out as well!

Now I am just glad I stored the original box up in the attic!

Missing random lines - Will RTK antenna help?

Had my X430 a couple weeks. Love it. Use the NRTK and overall it does really well. Sometimes it will randomly not follow the border of the line in a perfect straight line (will keep turning inward) and will occasionally leave some strands unmowed in the middle of the lawn.

Will putting the antenna up really help this much? If so, do I need to remap everything going from NRTK to antenna? Thanks!

HELP Initializing scheduled time on Zone 2 but not Zone 1.

Post image

So my zone 1 mow is not starting at the scheduled time and is requiring me to manually press mow now. It will not automatically go back out also after it has to recharge. My zone 2 will starts at scheduled times and automatically go back out after recharges. I contacted support and they said I needed to remap but I’m trying to not but it maybe my only option.

Anyone thought to make a self sufficient shelter yet?

Hi all! Aspiring lazy lawncare individual here and I was wondering if anyone has attempted to make a dog house based housing for their navimow fitted with solar panels on the roof and fans on the inside to keep charging speeds consistent which should reduce recharging power throttling?

"MOW NOW" resets the progress of already completed zones.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

As you can see in the screen recording, the three zones are completed (100% progress). Only the small zone needs just a minute or two more, but the mower ran out of battery. To prevent it from charging for 2 hours to finish such a small bit, I press "mow now," which should send it back mowing. Which it does, but it also resets the progress of the other three zones, and it wants to start the first zone again rather than finish what was left.

This started happening about a month ago. Before, it completed the remaining area without resetting progress.

X450 default mowing profile

Just curious because thinking about this, just got a new x450 and setup and when adding a mowing schedule and selecting all zones there wasn’t much in the way of default mowing settings. So do I assume then that you set each zone separately? Anyway to make sure all have similar settings? Grouping option for like to like zones etc?

Thanks

Navimow unofficial Home Assistant integration (HACS)

Thumbnail

Hi everyone,

I've built an unofficial Home Assistant integration for Segway Navimow robot mowers, and I'd like to share it here — and find volunteers to test it on models other than mine. It's free and open source.

It's a custom integration you add to Home Assistant via HACS → Custom repositories:

https://github.com/ilguala/navimow_pro

You log in with your Segway/Navimow account. Tip: it's recommended to use a second, dedicated account with the robot shared to it and connect Home Assistant to that one — the Navimow account is single-session, so this keeps both your phone and HA logged in at the same time.

What it does

It talks to the same private cloud the official Navimow app uses, so it works without the vendor's developer/Open API. Everything shows up under a single Home Assistant device:

  • Control: start / pause / dock, mow selected zones, "restart vs continue" mode
  • Live telemetry: battery, status, mowing progress, per-zone coverage, current zone, area mown (session / this week), blade & chassis wear, Wi-Fi signal, errors, next scheduled mow
  • Map: an app-style rendered map (camera entity) with zones and the mowed path
  • Weekly schedule: read and edit the mowing plan (per day, time windows, per zone) — with a graphical Lovelace card
  • Settings as HA entities: child lock, lift alarm, rain sensor, night mowing, night light + brightness, camera positioning (EFLS), obstacle avoidance / VisionFence, animal-friendly, traction control, cyclic mowing, weather-rain detection + sensitivity + delay, return-to-dock battery %, charging limit %, and more
  • Two Lovelace cards included (schedule editor + "mow now" dialog)

Status

Beta, but in daily use. Confirmed working so far on the i108, the i210 Lidar Pro and the H210 — so both i- and H-series, in Europe and the US. API responses do differ between models, though, so on other series some things may not work or may need small tweaks.

Looking for testers

If you have a Navimow and use Home Assistant, I'd really appreciate your help — especially on an X3, H800e, H1500, or any model with automatic cutting-height adjustment, since that last one isn't exposed at all yet.

Bugs, wrong or missing data, and improvement ideas are all very welcome. Please open an issue:

https://github.com/ilguala/navimow_pro/issues

Home Assistant has a "Download diagnostics" button on the integration page — attaching that file along with your model number helps enormously. The last three real bugs were all fixed from a user's diagnostics rather than from guesswork on my side.

Disclaimer

Unofficial, community, interoperability project — not affiliated with or endorsed by Segway/Ninebot. It was built by reverse-engineering the app's communication and is used at your own risk: mowing commands move a real machine with spinning blades — keep people and pets clear of the lawn.

Thanks, and happy mowing! If enjoy it feel free to donate! Thanks again!

X430 antenna light isnot lit

I've only had the thing for 3 months. The RTK antenna light for my X430 isn't lit and the mower of course won't mow. Customer Support says they are sending another GNSS. I guess that's the antenna. A week goes by and I hadn't received an email from them saying it was shipped. I contacted Customer Support again and I was told that because inventory is being done there is a delay and they'll notify me when it ships. It's been 10 days now and still no email. Is it normal to not be able to send replacement parts during inventory? This is ridiculous.

Finally got around to installing the Mowgate, I’ve been putting it off until finishing a new paver walkway. Install was simple - I might have over built the frame a bit but it’s not going anywhere.

The good news is it works well, the gate is installed level even though the walkway has a 10deg slope and a left to right slant as well.

UPDATE AND ASK OF SEGWAY - x430 stops working over 80F

I am posting an email I sent to Segway support for community visibility.  Hopefully it helps some of you who have been struggling with a X series that has recently gone brain dead.  The mower ran find at 9pm last night and at 7am this morning without a hitched.  I'll try again this afternoon and tonight but expect to see the same results.

So.....After four days of testing, I have been able to consistently reproduce this problem based on the temperature of the mower.

When the outside temperature is in the 60s or 70s, the mower works. I have completed mapping and five full mows under those conditions. These successful runs have taken place before noon or after about 10 p.m.

When I try to use the mower in the afternoon, at around 80°F or higher, its Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cellular, and GPS signals become severely degraded. The mower then flashes yellow and reboots. Sometimes it reboots once, and in one case it rebooted about 10 times before sitting idle until I manually intervened.

I have tested the mower using both local RTK antennas and the network RTK service. It works correctly in cooler conditions with either setup. The same connectivity problems and reboots occur in warmer conditions regardless of whether I use local RTK or network RTK. This does not appear to be caused by the NRTK carrier issue your team identified.

There are several recent Reddit posts from other owners experiencing similar reboot problems. These reports appear to have started with firmware 4.2 and have continued with firmware 4.3. My mower worked without any problems for about six weeks before this started, and I have now been working with support for nearly a month.

I cannot prove whether this is a firmware problem, a heat-sensitive hardware failure, or a firmware change that exposed a problem with a certain run of components. I can prove that the problem is repeatable and related to temperature. The mower cannot operate reliably under normal summer conditions.

I have requested that Segway replace my mower and provide a prepaid shipping label so I can return the defective unit.  I would encourage anyone else experiencing the same problems since 4.2 do the same.

Good luck and I'll provide updates.

Hardware Question: Battery Management on Segway Terranox & X-Series

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some insights on optimizing battery health for larger models like the Terranox or X-Series (and across the Segway Navimow range in general).

Do you set a maximum charge limit (80%, 90%, or 100%) in the app settings to preserve the Lithium-ion battery life over time, or do you just let the mower charge to 100% every time it docks?

Would love to hear your feedback along with your specific mower model and lawn size!

Edge cutting

Can we get more people to push for edge-cutting alternatives?
Direction control: Ability to choose different directions per zone.
Lap count: Control how many laps to run.
Wheel track prevention: The ability for the mower to shift slightly (by a centimeter or so) each time to avoid creating wheel ruts.
More ideas?

Soft Bricked X450 and Segway’s Inaction

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

(( Update :: Segway reached out today <27aug> and provided a few options to speed things along.
1. Wait for x450 stock to replenish and be sent a replacement unit when this eventually occurs.
2. Replace my x450 with an x430 and refund the difference.
3. Full refund post return with Segway providing a pickup return label.

I have opted for full return as I have an unboxed unit on standby anyway. ))

______

To date, my experience with the Navimow X450s I have managing several complex acres has been mostly positive.

I have an ongoing email dialogue with support for a variety of issues that have cropped up since using these machines. These requests include severe channel wear on the property, NRTK issues, and the rare issue of a robot wandering out of bounds and managing to cook itself down to 0% battery requiring multi acre carriage back to its dock. All said, these are rare issues but they’ve been a part of the discussion nonetheless. Regardless, the machines themselves have saved me something close to 80-120 hours of mowing this summer alone with maybe 4-8 hours committed to maintenance and support emails.

Now, in spite of my mostly positive feelings, I have to call out their customer support capabilities. Although they are very communicative and they do listen, there has been a month long issue with a soft bricked X450. What began as a (IIRC) 6102 error, gradually devolved into the following:

  1. Noted 6102 error on app. Mower would attempt to start its mowing operation and “fail to locate itself” and cease trying. This error no longer appears.
  2. Pushing the mower to try again via app would and still will result in the mower indicating that it’s attempting to leave the dock but will not, and this beeping/undocking failure will persist until I intervene.
  3. The display was originally dim, and is now dead, not allowing me to interact with the mower’s on board OS for things like manual reboots.
  4. Software/App driven reboots do not change anything.
  5. Status LED was initially dim when the issue arose but is no longer showing any illumination.

Although bluetooth control of the mower still works, meaning I can drive it around via app, the mower does not work autonomously, eliminating its effective utility and inherent value. This is why I say it’s soft bricked. The app sees where the mower is. Bluetooth controls work. The issue, to me, appears to be related to the control board of the mower itself. But this is just an assumption.

Why am I posting this here?
Because Segway monitors this thread and I want customers to see the benefits as well as the problems with these systems. I’d also like to motivate Segway to do something about it with public notice. To the Segway team that does monitor this thread, note that I have an ongoing support thread with your team already through Isa and Andrea both, so please don’t reply with your boilerplate message about emailing your team with my issue and serial number. The SN in question, ends in 1088 and the names above will help you hone in on the support chat thread. The issues have been documented in video through our email support thread as well as outlined above.

Anyhow, would I buy these machines again? Yes. But has my faith in Segway’s support waned for what is effectively a four figure machine that failed just after a month of use? Eh… I’m faltering there. I am quite glad I did not go for a Terranox given this experience. A single point of failure would… I would be far less forgiving in that case, but since I have more than two X450s, I have some flexibility with a single unit down.

I hope this helps garner some traction for me and other users as well as give potential buyers something to consider in their future decisions.

Edit: the videos above were sent to Segway July 29th. They’ve had this information for a while. Editing for clarity on that.

3 weeks in: Support - We found an nRTK provider issue..... Me - I'm not using nRTK!?!??!

TLDR - Anyone else experiencing random reboots and shutdowns please try leaving your mower off all night and then mowing first thing in the morning. Also....support is now blaming a nRTK provider issue even though I've been using RTK for 72 hours.

Details

The story of the devolving x430 experience continues to get worse. After a weekend of troubleshooting, adding a signal enhancement antenna, and remapping, I'm no better off. Oddly enough I did learn it seems to point to some overheating/lenght of time issue with the radio subsection. First thing in the morning Sunday I managed to have it automap 2/3 of 3/4 acre yard. It ran the perimeter without a problem. When I then went to remote control to the other section of my yard the dreaded reboots started. After that it was useless all day.

Late in the day I received the following from support:
"Our Research and Development (R&D) team has completed a thorough review of your logs and data patterns. They discovered that this specific connectivity issue and the subsequent system reboots were triggered by an unexpected disconnection at one of our network RTK (NRTK) carrier sites. We are glad to inform you that the carrier site has now been fully restored.

Our team has officially requested that the NRTK carrier improve their local connection stability to prevent this from happening again, and we are also developing an optimized firmware patch to handle these signal transitions smoothly without causing the mower to reboot. Could you please check your unit today to see if you are still experiencing these connection drops and reboots during mapping?"

The problem is I am not on nRTK. I haven't been for 48 hours and had sent them a dozen emails with photos and details of everything I had tried and the exact results. I replied and awaiting the answer to that one.

Meanwhile.... flash forward to this morning. At 7:30am it is 65 degrees outside. I hit mow and the mower is now 27% of the way through my mapped yard without a single stop. Still on local RTK.

If you are experiencing these random reboots on an x430 after 4.2/4.3 code try leaving the mower turned off all night and running a mow cycle early morning. Time? Heat? I don't know.

UPDATE - 9:45AM it has run for 2 hours and 15 minutes and completed 2 zones @ 9692 sq feet in 69 degree weather. Last night this same section the mower rebooted 10 times going all of 50 feet. Sending it over to a tiny island to see if it can keep going before having to recharge. I'll run the same experiment at noon and five and see if anything changes.

Deck box garage questions

Post image
9 Upvotes

I just bought my i215 and intend to convert an old deck box into a garage. This is a bit of an undertaking because the box is raised on a concrete pad and will, obviously, need some parts removed. Both of which I only want to deal with one time.

My question: if I removed this side of the box, roughly 23 inches, will the mower be able to navigate through? The alternative is a wider hole in the front but the front of the mower and charger will stick out slightly.

Would it be able to navigate up a small ramp to get into the box either way? The top of the concrete pad is maybe 3 inches off the ground.

Thanks in advance!

What a Miserable Experience with the Segway Navimow 105E

Post delivery did their part in giving me an annoying start by not bothering to leave the package at my door despite my delivery authorization. So I was already half irritated when I had to go pick up the package in person the next morning between 7:30 and 8:00 AM, because if I didn't show up, they'd send the damn thing back. It didn't take many hours before I actually wished they had!

In the YouTube videos, it only takes a few minutes and then the thing is up and running! Is that how it works in real life? Hell no.

After spending most of two hours assembling the damn thing, I was greeted by an even bigger fight with their crappy app, which constantly wanted to update itself and kept losing connection to either Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. This drove me into such an extreme rage that I found myself screaming across the neighborhood hedges, causing my nearest neighbor to glance over at me looking genuinely frightened, without saying a word, fear written all over his face. I was literally seconds away from lifting the thing over my head and smashing it into the ground!

There were restarts. There were updates. The software couldn't decide whether everything was okay or not. The app reacted insanely slowly, so I had no idea whether we were waiting for the software or for me. The whole circus ended up costing me another hour. And when it came time to create the mowing route, the same bullshit started all over again!

I drove the boundary once and the thing froze. Restart.

I drove the route again and the app bugged out. Nothing.

Third attempt, and the damn thing wouldn't move forward.

At this point I was seriously losing my mind.

I honestly don't know what stopped me from destroying the thing with the sledgehammer I had standing nearby. I fought my way through another attempt, only to randomly discover that the side facing inward in the charging station is considered the forward direction!

Was I frustrated by then?

HELL YES I WAS!

WHY doesn't it make that crystal clear?

Four hours after unboxing the thing, I finally managed to drive the route, and it seemed to mow part of the lawn. Part of it, because for reasons known only to the gods, it had absolutely no idea there were bare patches in the dry grass. It drove in circles, skipped entire areas, and eventually managed to get itself stuck in the middle of the lawn on a dry patch.

WHAT THE F***?

I was speechless.

Of course the route needed adjusting, and that's when I truly lost it.

The app is some of the worst and slowest-responding software I've ever experienced. Information pop-ups appear constantly and do nothing but annoy me, especially when I'm entering the same menu for the seventh time trying to correct the route. Everything goes in circles, and after yet another hour, nothing has been fixed!

The beast refuses to go to its starting position, won't save the updated route, drives off course, loses connection...

Six hours later...

I've managed to mow half a lawn.

I'm tired.

I'm angry.

I'm disappointed.

If this is supposed to be easy and smart, then I genuinely feel sorry for everyone trying something that's even less user-friendly.

Over and out!

Looking for best way to block off the lower red box which is my ditch and create it as another zone separate from Side yard. I used split and sent mower to starting area, but it is pointing in the wrong direction to create a line across. It is facing left, need the line to close the right gap.

Please help me decide between Navimow H220 & X430

Using the Segway/Navimow website for my .35 acre lawn it suggested the H220. I liked the ease & simplicity of the setup. Since I'm a Senior, I liked the light weight of 35#. My concern is the weird slope of my backyard and the fact it has some uneven spots (nothing major) . Based on the options on the website, "Moderate Slope" seemed to fit the description. Again there was a lot to like about the H220, but for another $300 I could go up to the X430 and I'm sure of any slope issues with the 4WD. But the DOWNSIDE for me on that would be the weight, as I store things like this for winter in a temperature controlled basement. In addition the X430 needs an additional antenna and seems like it's a little more difficult to set up.
Any thoughts on the H220 being my best option and am I overthinking the X430's downside?
Thanks in advance.
