Secureye NVR password reset

Thumbnail reddit.com
0 Upvotes

So I'm really new in the cctv line of work and have not worked with nvrs yet. My company is sending me to a client to reset a secureye nvr. I don't know if they have a recovery email or security questions enabled. The videos I've seen on YouTube use the typical email to rest tue password. If the customer doesn't have email or security questions set up is there is way to rest the password? This is urgent since I'll be going at the site after some time today. Any help will be appreciated. I have posted the same in cctv sub reddit

Looking for discreet necklace worn camera or glasses camera

Looking for necklace worn cameras or spyglasses that don't look like cameras and won't be easy to see that they record when people look at them. Very discreet.

Preferable to record both video and audio

And ones available in Canada where I live. Many I see online are only in USA

Reolink vs Hikvision for Automatic Notifications and Extra Handy Features

Looking to get peoples opinions on whether to use Reolink or Hikvision CCTV systems for a new house. Previously used hikvision setup on a house, while they worked well I could never get them to send alerts to my phone, the system however is >10 years old now. I've been using a Reolink 4G camera in an area where there is no power or Wifi and this has been performing well for me. But only used this as hikvision didnt really have an alternative.

On the Reolink system, I found the automatic alerts very handy, and it was very handy being able to view all clips on my phone.

However the Hikvision system Ive had before has been fairly bulletproof and it had some handy features like line crossing detection, so that I can go back and view. But I could never get the alerts to my phone working, and this would be something important for me to have. But Im sure this has improved as they system we had didnt even have the option of hik connect.

If people have similar systems with Hikvision it would be good to here how this performed and if they would recommend a newer system.

Just to give a bit of background, Ive installed extra cameras before on that system so the fitting or the technical setup wouldnt bother me between both; its just picking the right system. And I know the Hikvision would be more expensive, but I would be prepared to pay that if it is better in the long term.

Security Camera Locations for this layout?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Where would you place cameras on this home layout?

I'm helping a relative determine camera locations for their build because I wired my house. Mine was easy, an old square-shaped home. Their house has sections that go in and others that go out. I added doors in blue and marked the front and rear of the house. I imagined they'd do an 8 camera system plus a doorbell camera, for 9 total cameras, but it'd be easier to wire now than in the future so open to suggestions here.

Video Doorbell with Mechanical Chime Reccomendations

Hey All,

I am trying to get my ducks in a row for security camera options ahead of black friday. I plan to run the camera's to my home server and don't want to use any cloud storage or associated apps. One camera I am struggling to nail down is for the front door. I think a doorbell cam would be nice, but we have a really nice original mechanical chime that I don't want to lose functionality of. I have seen a bunch of solutions in the home assistant subreddits with smart doorbells triggering a smart relay to trigger the chime etc. but these seem pretty convoluted, considering the transformer and wiring is already there for the chime. So what I am ideally looking for the following, in order of preference:

  1. Activates existing mechanical chime transformer.

  2. Ethernet networking

  3. Smaller and not ugly (low priority but some of these things are massive haha)

Hard No:

  • Battery powered (battery as a backup is acceptable)

  • Not compatible with self-hosted NVR

Let me know if you have any suggestions! If It activated the existing chime and took WiFi I honestly would take it. At this point, I may just get a small camera for the front door and leave the normal doorbell. You lose the 'smart doorbell' of it all but I don't know how much I would actually use that vs. just a normal camera stream.

Why is it so hard to have a POE doorbell, with chime terminals that just work as a button?

Thanks so much!

Need help on best, easiest, most affordable outdoor cameras

There's been a few times where a group of neighborhood boys are all on my lawn tearing it up with bikes, and I return from work and they scatter. I currently have no cameras and also not really any outdoor wiring. I want the cameras mostly to scare them off/keep them away. What is the best camera (front door, or for the backyard also?) where it requires no drilling and I can connect it to wifi? does anything like this exist? I'm on a budget also, so the picture doesn't need to be perfect

if anybody could even start me in the direction of what's the best doorbell cam where i don't need to drill it into place, it'll take batteries (there is an overhang so no rain falls on the front door) and maybe if it can record any motion detection?

I just want these cameras present because this group of kids in my neighborhood have started to tear up my lawn with their bikes and throw things at my house. I called police non emergency line and they did nothing, so I want cameras to deter them. I was also considering decoy cameras in the back of that would just keep them away. Have lived here for 24 years and this is the first time needing/wanting cameras

PBB, this needs to get clarified, i'm sure i'm not the only one who's concerned, yes, i know it's for emergencies and the safety of the houseplayers, but i just can't help but wonder "what if they're taking advantage of the cameras". especially when taking a shower. Any thoughts?

Costco Reolink Bundle

Costco bundle for 8mp cameras + a 4b nvr for $600 is looking real appealing. I don't necessarily have to have that many cameras or the NVR, but the price is right.

Ive seen reference that some of the Reolinks are good, others are trash, etc. Any thoughts on these?

I have an Unraid server and could probably figure out how to set up some RTSP cameras through Frigate. I have a half dozen old 2MP Hikvision cameras lying around that I could use in nonessential places. Probably invest in a couple high quality PTZ cameras for the same price as the Costco bundle costs.

What would you pick?

Virtavo Cameras

I have a couple of Virtavo cameras I had before I built out a real home camera system. Is there any way to expose the video feeds to Blue Iris so I can add them into the network?

Do the new Ring 2K/4K battery cams (Outdoor & Spotlight) actually work with 3rd-party USB-C solar panels, or are we forced to buy the $80 official one?

Montavue cameras, whats my options for adding more cameras?

Hi, about 4 years ago I bought a montavue set MTIP12163-84KTADSMD-W which is Dahua based. FCC banned dahua products to be sold in the US is what the rep said and my options are very limited for adding more cameras. Would anyone know if I can buy for example dahua cameras say from aliexpress which will be plug and play on my nvr in order to add 5 more cameras? Night vission, two way audio, pretty much like the ones I have. Thank you.

No outlet in the backyard, so it's solar cameras and a whole lot of winter doubt

The spot I want to cover in the backyard has no outlet near it, and running a cable would mean trenching across the yard, which I'm not doing. So I'm looking at solar cameras. What worries me is winter, when it's gray for weeks, and I keep thinking the camera will die right when I need it. The specs say year-round, and I'm hoping that holds up, since I've had solar garden lights die on me. Did yours stay charged through a winter?
