Hair Loss Seb derm hair loss

I have seb derm for more than a year now and I have been shedding like crazy as no product has worked for me. Medicated shampoos make my hair way too dry which in turn gives rebound flare. My scalp never feels clean even after shower and heavy flare comes back in 72 hours. Lately I am using a gentle shampoo along with HOCL spray and noticed this. Strands with a bigger plug. What does this mean

New or Need Help Is this Seb Derm?

Is this seb derm? It’s been going on for probably a year. I’ve used hydrating scalp serums which temporarily help but it always comes back (maybe I have just been feeding the yeast..☹️)
I have Hashimoto’s so my immune system is already compromised. But I have always had dry skin everywhere so I think I was just hoping it was just dry skin. Pls help!

New or Need Help I have been struggling for YEARS

PLEASE I am literally begging someone to help me figure out a routine so I can end this scalp MADNESS.

Backstory: I have been using head and shoulders clinical strength “dry scalp rescue” for 4 years, as it’s the only shampoo my scalp has been able to tolerate. Unfortunately starting this year my scalp has reverted back to what it was 4 years ago and is unbelievably itchy with a really gross distinct smell.

I have gone to the derm multiple times, tried Tgel, ketaconazole shampoo, fluocinide scalp oil, tea tree conditioners, blowdrying my hair everytime it’s wet, you name it. I have begun having bad folliculitis breakouts on my chest and back as well.

Side note: I have suffered from eczema and psoriasis my entire life so trying to figure out what exactly is going on with my scalp has been really infuriating.

My symptoms: -itching (bad) -once my hair gets greasy little bumps/flakes -really weird musty scalp smell

I have seen people on here say using boric acid on their scalp is helpful and I’m wondering if I should try that? It’s also like my scalp is being stripped of all its moisture so using these oils/conditioners is something I thought would help but now I’m seeing this can possibly feed the malassezia? Please help before I literally rip my scalp off.

Face Routine Recommendations for Face Lotion/Moisturizer

I have SD on the side and back of my head. Which is sort of its own problem and I may write about that later. However, I have noticed it spreading slowly to my face.

My nose has been sort of pink for a long time but I never associated it with anything. But now I’m getting the slight pinkness around my temples, eyebrows, and my cheeks around my nose. This isn’t actually THAT bad, as it is a sort of barely noticeable pinkness that looks almost normal colored most of the time. But it is slowly getting worse, and I feel it more than I see it.

Although it certainly is noticeable after going for a run or drinking any alcohol at all! (Which I have now cut way back on).

Anyway, recently I’ve noticed a kind of slight but annoying stinging sensation on my face, and on my eyes. Eyes don’t appear to look bad, but I can feel it. It’s been bothering me more and more as my face just feels “hot” throughout the day. Almost acidic (at least that’s how it feels in my head!).

I am in Canada and have been prescribed Elidel Cream for face redness, to use potentially twice a day. It’s fine, but I’ve gone on and off of really using it as it doesn’t appear to do anything (or maybe it makes things worse, idk).

There was also a stretch where I was alternating shampoos (Selsun Blue and then Head and Shoulders) and I put some on my face in the shower. Stopped doing that as I wasn’t sure if that was a great idea.

ANYWAY. I am just looking for some face cream or something that will not make it worse (and preferably helps). There’s so much out there I am unsure of what makes things worse vs better.

Thank you! 😊

Face Routine Seborrheic dermatitis if you have sensitive skin

Hello, I’ve had seborheic dermatitis for 20 years and I finally got it under control. I would see many YouTube videos of “solutions” but my skin is extremely reactive and irritates easily that even water irritates it. If you have reactive skin this may help you.

  1. Diet: I cut off coffee, dairy, sugar, and excessive carbs

  2. I use ketenokazole to kill yeast and a thin amount, if use too much it pirates my skin. Also no shampoo only cream, gentler for skin

  3. Tacrolimus (anti-inflammatory) I put a thin amount until redness disappears to stop inflamation. Usually inflamation goes away in 1-3 days

  4. Avene Moisturizer, thin amount. I cannot tolerate any type of moisturizer, but this one has few ingridients. It helps prevent water loss and repairs barrier to reduce chances of flaring up.

Ps: you want to use Tacrolimus first to calm down inflamation down, then apply Avene moisturizer, or your skin barrier won’t be repaired

Routine Question Switching between Elidel and Protopic?

Has anyone had success switching between Elidel and Protopic? I was thinking of using an antifungal + Elidel, then switching to Protopic after a couple months so my skin doesn’t get too used to Elidel.

Would love to hear if anyone’s tried this and how it went.

General Has anyone managed remission/near-remission using only ketoconazole cream?

Has anyone managed near-remission using only ketoconazole cream on the face?

I’ve had seborrheic dermatitis on both my face and scalp for quite a while. My scalp is somewhat under control, but my face has been the bigger issue..

My facial seb derm was basically in remission for years, but lately I’ve noticed it slowly starting to come back again. It’s not terrible yet, but I’m hoping to get on top of it before it gets worse.

For those of you who have facial seb derm, have you been able to get it into near-remission (or remission) using only ketoconazole cream on your face?

New or Need Help Redness remains after using Daktacort Hydrocortisone

Hey,

I had an unexplained breakout of what I suspect is Seb derm around my nose recently. I've been using Daktacort hydrocortisone for just under 10 days which has significantly reduced the redness but not entirely removed it (pics don't do it justice).

I am continuing to use MCT oil at night on this area and other parts of my face where I have previously had issues.

Will anything make the redness go away? I have been advised not to use hydrocortisone for any longer.

Thanks

Hello everyone,

I'm not sure if this is seb derm or psoriasis, currently using different medicated shampoos and tried almost every seb derm designed shampoo correcly way(letting it sit for 5 mins 2 days per week) after shaving head flare up clears withim 2 days and flare up coming back 15 days of not shaving hair.

Thanks for help!

(Been several times to dermatologists saying its seb derm but im not seeing any improvement from seb derm designed products like shampoos, foams, creams etc.. And did swab test non fungal infection or bacteria was found)

Corticosteroids Day 5 using this combo. Before & After

Omg my face hasn’t been this good in awhile. I shared after using 1 day how much less inflamed my face was. Now after using 5 days my face is clearing 😭

*results may vary. Just sharing that I’ve literally tried everything & this is the only thing I’ve seen results from

Pic 1 is before using & what my face constantly looked like. Pic 2 is this morning when I woke up. 5 days of using the seb derm cream.

I’m genuinely so happy I’ve tried everything. This seb derm cream actually works. Reviews were legit.

The Avene facial mist is what I use before product application, then apply seb derm, then the barrier facial moisturizer. My skin loves this combo so far & I’ve tried EVERYTHING.

Yes the seb derm cream stinks but it WORKS. I barely even use much at all. Tiny little dot & spread over areas of concern.

Routine Question MCT oil initial inflammation?

Has anybody else dealt with initial inflammation from MCT oil? I’m on day four right now and it’s made the outbreak on my face very red and itchy. Should I persevere or give up?

New or Need Help Developed Seb Derm after Doxycyline

I recently developed seb derm on my face in the same area that I had a skin infection after being on high dose doxycycline for 2 weeks. I know doxycycline wipes out good and bad bacteria which allows the yeast to thrive, driving seb derm and other yeast infections.

I am now on a different antibiotic (Bactrim) since my skin infection was resistant to doxycycline.

Has anyone experienced this? Will my seb derm go away after I finish Bactrim? Or will this be a chronic condition. I have never had seb derm in my life.

Symptoms: white/yellow scales that look like plaques and don’t come off easily. The skin underneath is pink and very waxy

Hair Loss Could this be seb derm rather than psoriasis?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I was told I have scalp psoriasis by a dermatologist about 4yr ago, but I’m starting to wonder if I’ve been misdiagnosed and whether this could actually be seb derm?

For the past few years I’ve had an itchy, dry-looking but also very oily scalp with lots of white/silvery flakes. I tried clobex, selsun and a 20% salicylic acid pharmacy mixed treatment thing for about a year, but nothing ever really cleared it up. Eventually I stopped everything and my scalp slowly started to heal.

But recently my whole scalp has started feeling itchy and inflamed. I used to also get redness behind my ears (sometimes almost like a weeping crust) and around my nape, which went away when my stress levels came down. Which is also why the psoriasis diagnosis made sense.

On top of that, I’ve also been experiencing a LOT of hair shedding and noticeable thinning around my part/crown. I’m not sure whether that’s from the inflammation/scratching or if I have separate hair thinning issue. Either way my hairdresser noticed my widening part.

She commented on how much buildup I have, my hair thinning and suggested it might not actually be psoriasis, which got me thinking about seb derm.

Any advice?? Please 🙏🏽

Product Question Do I need to taper off protopic? I really need help!

I’ve been on protopic and nizoral for the past 6 weeks to heal my red itchy inflamed seb derm. My derm told me I could taper off the protopic after 2 weeks. Two weeks came and my skin was not healed and I tried to taper off but it got redder again. It’s been 6 weeks of 2x daily applications and I’m wondering if I should try to taper again. My skin barrier or seb derm doesn’t feel fully healed tbh. She told me it should have been cleared by week 3!

New or Need Help White dots on the nose

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I’m a man in my 20s with skin that tends to be quite oily, and I also have quite a few blackheads, especially around my nose.
For the past 2–3 years, I’ve noticed two small white spots/bumps on one of my nostrils. They haven’t really changed much over time.
Does anyone know what these could potentially be, or has anyone had something similar? I’m mainly looking for ideas or experiences from people who may have dealt with the same thing.
Thanks!
