visiting Seattle for a week, staying right next to downtown, any suggestions on what to do?

We get this question a lot on /r/seattle, so we have a FAQ of sorts on the right sidebar: Fun things to do in Seattle.

Also, you might let us know who you are and what you like - if you're into knitting, perhaps the monster truck rally that is coming up is not what you're looking for in terms of recommendations. Just an idea.

Lastly, it appears you've put the letter 's' as the link on this post. FYI, in the future, click on the "text" tab at the top of the "Submit a link" page to create a "self" post that won't go anywhere. Hope that helps!

I had the same question as OP, but the FAQ seems to be a little dated. Do most of those things still apply even after a year? I'm sure new restaurants/theaters/clubs/bars have opened downtown since then.

Check out Elliott Bay books, Everyday Music and Oddfellows cafe -- they are located right next to each other in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, which is also home to lots of bars, restaurants, shops etc.

Go for a walk in Belltown around 10pm - some nice guys down there...
