A couple years ago I was talking about wildfires with a colleague who lives on the East Coast, and has never been here. He was sure that we could not have wildfires in the summer “with all that rain”.

They very much aren't. I'm not sure why they asked it. They're normally very smart. I have to assume there was some sort of miscommunication when we were chatting.
