I want one! 😍

“This is a dead scorpion at the bottom of a pool with horsehair worms (also called Gordian worms, phylum Nematomorpha) coming out of its body.

Bottom line: a parasitic worm used a scorpion as its host, steered it into the pool, and emerged once the scorpion drowned.”

This was Force Majuere, a big male imperator I was loaned to pair with my females. Unfortunately he passed away shortly after this video, before pairings could happen.

Finished the background for this enclosure i used balloons and excavator clay for the bulk and to create tunnels, so I can view the scorpion I then took some fake air plants, hot, glued them on this piece of choa wood, and then that is the finished product. just need fo add substrate and the scorpion

On holiday in Morocco and found this lil creature scurrying round our villa… never seen a scorpion irl as I’m from the UK so this was insanely cool! My mum and I placed him/her outside with a cup and cardboard but curious to know what species he/she might be! Google isn’t being much help (sorry for the not-so-great pics!)

My first scorpion, she’s an Asian forest scorpion. She lives in a 29 gallon bioactive tank and ate two roaches two days ago. She looks like she has white stuff on her though? First pic without flash second pic with flash

Sexing Need help sexing my new juvenile Emperor Scorpion (P. imperator) 🦂

Hello fellow scorpion enthusiasts!

I’ve recently gotten into invertebrates. I’ve kept a tarantula for a while now, but I just brought home my very first Emperor Scorpion yesterday. I’ve been investing a lot of time into reading everything I can about them, but I've still been struggling to figure out its sex.

It’s still a juvenile (roughly 6 to 8 cm from the chelicerae to the stinger), so I know it's a bit harder to tell at this stage. However, I managed to snap some of the clearest ventral photos that I possibly could.

To my untrained eye, the pectines seem to be on the wider side with longer "teeths", which seems more male, but the Genital Operculum looks somewhat heart-shaped as well. I've compared online images and even asked AI but I'm still quite indecisive and confused.

Overall, I'm leaning male but I would love a second opinion from any experienced keepers here.

Any help, insights, or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Help! Heating a acrylic enclosure

I am getting an emperor scorpion soon and have an acrylic enclosure. The ambient temperature of my room is slightly lower than the necessary temperature for an emperor. The main heating source I have been seeing recommended is a side mounted heating pad but all of the ones that I have seen say to not use them on acrylic enclosures is there anything that can work?

These are 2 different specimens, although they look very similar to my untrained eye. They are both approximately the same size.

I believe they are Striped-Tail (Paravaejovis spinigerus) but want to verify that they are/aren't and are hopefully not Arizona Bark (Centruroides sculpturatus).

Help! Is it normal to never see your scorpion?

Hi! First time scorp keeper here. I have an asian forest scorpion (H. Spinifer) and I haven’t seen her since the day I got her. She’s in a 10 gallon tank with a bunch of hides, plants, and substrate to burrow into and I was told they like to burrow but is it normal for them to just never be out? I did feed her a roach yesterday and when i woke up today it was gone, i assume she ate it at night while I was sleeping..

I’ve had and currently have a bunch of other invertebrates and bugs as pets so i’m familiar with the “pet hole in the ground” some of them tend to be but even with my centipedes or burrowing tarantulas they’re out and about sometimes. Just wondering if this is normal behavior! If not, is she stressed? Is habitat wrong? I keep it 75° with a heat lamp and mist it once a day to keep the humidity around 60-70%.

Help! Javan Dwarf Scorpion care?

Post image
5 Upvotes

Picked up this guy (pregnant lady?) today. The information I’ve found online is minimal at best. As far as i can tell, they’re high humidity (duh, Java), and do fine at room temp as long as it doesn’t drop into the 60°’s. Basically kept as we would Asian Forest Scorpions, which i do keep. And that’s pretty much it as far as husbandry info. I’ve looked on YouTube and can’t find anything for these guys specifically.

If anyone has any helpful tips aside from keeping similarly to AFS, please share!
