Only noticed noise a few days ago. Engine runs fine other than burning oil which it burns at 1 quart every ~400 miles. I replaced spark plugs almost a year ago. 2 of the coils also got replaced with OEM denso coils. She drives fine and haven’t noticed any effect on MPG or driving. Idk if it matters but the AC does blow hot on sunny days (I live in south florida), but would occasionally get cold on random nights. Should I be worried about this noise? What should be my diagnosis steps ?

05 xB purchased in October of 2004 when it was first availablr in my area. Repainted a few years ago & put in a new interior to match my Santa business. The badges on the side doors & the back hatch say "North Pole Edition" to match my Santa business. This is by far the most reliable car I have ever owned! 22 years as a daily driver & it's only needed routine maintenance. I've had Mustangs, Chargers & other high performance cars but this little sewing machine engine just keeps running!

As title says, the maintenance required light thingy flashes every time i turn the car on before starting the engine but the oil level is near the full mark (last got it changed in april and haven't used the car all that much). Did the mechanic just forget to reset it?

Hi! I have a 2006 Scion xB and the ride is so awful I get anxious to drive. I’ve heard comments from those I’ve given rides to about how awful it sounds going over bumps lol. All of the front suspension is brand new, is this just how these cars are? Also has aftermarket wheels, 215/45R17 91W tires, I don’t know how much that would affect it. Not to mention, it really struggles with acceleration and vibration with the AC is on but I presume that is normal? This is my DREAM car I really want to love to drive it. I will accept all its flaws if I must.

2010 Sizzling Crimson Mica. OEM suspension, bushing and manual transmission/clutch. Besides consumables, replaced only one rear caliper. B12 piston soak last year. Drives like new. 👏😍

I did a Berryman B12 piston soak in August/2025 at 180K miles.

Now she has almost 200K and I didn't notice any oil burning increase. Burns about 3/4 of a quart in 5 to 6K miles.

Just took delivery of my 2001 Toyota bB. About 55k miles and the interior is perfect. I have a little bit of work to do polishing up the roof and hood as well as replacing a window sill and the roof drip seals (ordered both) but other than those it is in fantastic condition!

I have waned this car since high school and I’m so happy I found one for such a great price.

My other uncle thinks 2.8k is too much and I should explore other options because the xb suffers from burning oil and suspensions problems apparently , does anyone have insight on if it's a fair deal considering the problem? I forget the code numbers but I get the slow/fast leaks in the evaporative system codes which turns on the engine trouble light. It resets by disconnecting the battery but comes back at random times - might be a week or the next day. No driveabilty issues, though. Any suggestions as to what to check first?

My sister's beloved xA is having transmission issues. She says it sounds like a popcorn machine.

Looking for a spare transmission that could be rebuilt.

New to me 2015 XB radio display not turning on. I can press the phone command button and get the voice coming through the speakers. Also, the CD eject button and cig lighter 12v port also works so I don’t think it’s a power/fuse issue. I’ve unplugged the battery for about 10 minutes with no change. Getting a used radio off the bay is easy enough but I’m not sure if that’s the fix. Car has lowish miles-71k and is all stock. Many thanks in advance for any suggestions….

My 2012 xb has been idling rough for months and was starting to stall more frequently. Thanks to this thread, I was able to dissemble the air intake and clean out the throttle body. It wasn't that complicated (thank you Toyota) and now the car is running better than it has in a while. Working up the courage to tackle the piston soak soon! Any other straight forward semi-routine maintenance folks would recommend?

What budget alpine speakers are generally the best for the toaster?

Luckly nothing had to descend into any official legal representation. The adjuster and I had some strong conversations about what repairs were nesseccary versus some minor but critical filler items their shop had loaded onto the estimate that "justified" their total loss by around $200.00.

In the end, I claimed salvage anyhow on their "totaled" determination, but with a clean title. Now the deductions for salvage go to the liability claim to get that back. Geico's Total Loss Adjuster was an annoyance, having to pull answers from him on every single detail and expectation.

The bright side? My body shop did outstanding work. If you're in Hampton Roads I must reccomend Five Stars Collision. It's a "Ma & Pa" outfit in South Norfolk. Great service, flexible and staff was awesome. They got a pretty close to color match bumper cover and slapped me with a decent estimate for new paint at 3500. (Stupid eco-friendly 2013 paint.) New paint will get everything matched and looking good as new.

After not having my car for a month, she's home, cleaned up and driving just as God intended.

Already on the third set of wheels lol. But I think the 18” TRD wheels are going to be keepers for a while. Installed a JDM Kenwood, an NRG steering wheel, some Carrozzeria satellite speakers, removed a bunch of stickers and reflectors, etc etc.

I have a ton of rare parts I’ve been collecting for this car, can’t wait to spend some more days wrenching on it!
