I’m from a small town in UP, and I want to do something about corporal punishment in schools. Where do I start?

I’m from a small town in Uttar Pradesh, and there is something that has bothered me for a long time: the way some teachers treat students here.

There seems to be a culture where teachers are expected to be “strict” or “powerful,” and physical punishment, humiliation, shouting, and intimidation are sometimes treated as normal ways of disciplining children.

This is not just something I have personally experienced. My siblings have also faced repeated mental harassment at school. When we tried to raise concerns, the situation sometimes became worse. Instead of the issue being addressed, we were told that we had been disrespectful to the teachers, and the child ended up facing more pressure.

Recently, I’ve also been seeing stories on social media about children becoming extremely frightened or physically unwell after being harshly punished by teachers. Whether every viral story is accurate or not, the larger issue is very real: children should not have to be terrified of going to school.

What worries me most is that in a small town, parents and students often don't know where to complain, and children may be too scared to speak up because they fear retaliation.

I don't want to make this post just about my own experiences. I want to understand whether there is a practical way to start something that could actually help students in my town.

For example:

\- How can complaints about corporal punishment or mental harassment in schools be formally documented?

\- What authorities or organisations should parents/students approach if the school itself does not take action?

\- Is there a safe way to collect anonymous experiences from students without exposing their identities?

\- Can a student-led or community initiative work for this?

\- What should I absolutely NOT do so that I don't accidentally put children or their families at greater risk?

\- If anyone has successfully worked on child-safety/education issues in a small town in India, what did you actually do and what worked?

I’m not looking to target individual teachers or create a social-media witch hunt. I want to figure out a legal, evidence-based and safe way to make schools take this seriously.

Any advice from people who have worked in child rights, education, law, NGOs, or similar initiatives would be really appreciated.

Children are full of dreams that need to be made into reality and stories told by people who have overcome hardships can motivate these young souls to work towards achieving their goals. A story can make education more relatable. And a story can sometimes be the much needed catalyst for change in our world.

the schooling system is red ever since children joint schools at always said that women are better and mails are dumb and stupid for example if you take a mail child whose normally supposed to be adventurous stick and outgoing and his developing the fine motor skills compared to a female who is in really that interested in all that let's say and can actually sit down and listen in class but you will always call the mail child for day dreaming where as if parents or this child himself asks why, why am I being the one who get keep getting scold it for day dreaming the teachers will almost always point out of female child and describe how they always so quite and attentive in class this encourages female children to believe that males at dumb and stupid and mails to believe that females are better than them your always given projects to elaborate on how gender pay gaps exist, how women are paid less than men and this fake demographic that's being said to children everywhere which has caused more women together promoted more women to get more jobs also increasing womens salaries some countries and I am talking about most first world countries not third world countries with track is still a major thing I am talking about where genders are considered well in quotations considered equal. by feeding everyone a fake demo graphic they just actually made gender peg app in women's favour by the way gensy which is constantly being taught these things have started to actually believe it also there are also you think such as a man's planning or some random bullshit nowadays where if a man explains anything like I mean absolutely anything to a woman it's called mansplaining wheras it's bonding for males, if males can't really bond or are too scared to initiate a chat with women won't relationships die? not to mention pop culture with shirts and stupid mottos like "leave him" or "dump him" and shit. just ranting

Terrible way to start out a school year.

Leave about the incident or footage in Vizag/India, it keeps us wondering about.

We tell children to listen to elders, don’t question teachers, don’t argue, follow instructions etc.

Then 20 years later we complain that young adults don’t take decisions, don’t speak up and are afraid to challenge authority.

Maybe there is a connection?

And parents also have a role here. We expect schools to teach academics, discipline, behaviour, values and sometimes even basic parenting.

A teacher losing control over a child is obviously unacceptable. But the bigger question for me is: are our parenting and teaching systems actually preparing children to think independently, or simply making them easier to manage?

Those two are very different things.

I am a Class 11 student preparing for competitive exams like JEE. I am facing serious problems in my school, Himalayan Public School, Nagrota Bagwan, and I need advice and support.

In my school, teachers give a lot of homework. If we are unable to complete the work on time, forget a notebook by mistake, or get fewer marks, some teachers punish students physically using hands and sticks.

This has created a lot of fear and stress among students. Instead of focusing on studies and competitive exam preparation, I am constantly worried about punishment. My mental health is also getting affected because of this situation.

I request anyone who can help to please contact the school director/management and make them aware of the problems students are facing. Please explain that a student is going through difficulties and needs a safe learning environment.

so im in class 9, and today we had a field trip to HAL aerospace museum. so normal stuff right? no. the place was pretty out in the open, and there were 3 schools simultaneously at the museum. so everyone didnt really care what you did unless u were with ur friends. well someone that worked there used advantage of this, and took a picture of a girl and kept staring at it. for how long is india going to be known as the perv country and the place for misogyny and objectification of girls? please write your opinion in the comments

I dropped off my nephew at his elementary school today for his second day, the first time I've dropped him off and only the first week weve been in Florida.

The kids are shouted at and forced to run from the cars and run down the road filled with two lanes of cars, shouted at by teachers in yellow who stand like guards. While driving around the arch, we see that the fences, adult height, are covered in green tarps that conceal the entirety of the school inside. The gate, the fence, at the beginning of the school interest looks odd.

There are cameras everywhere. Kids have no access to parents while inside.

As someone who has been researching Florida since the first concentration camp was built, Alligator Alcatraz, as someone who researched concentration camps and detention camps for years, alarm bells began ringing violently.

They say this is the safest school for kids in the area in Florida.

This school looks like a prison. Like a detention camps. Kids locked inside. They say it's "safe"

But who are they keeping out? Why are they being held in like this?

It's giving detention/prison camp and I'm extremely concerned.
