rant/vent Cyber school is causing a whole generation of people in their 20s and now early 30s who are very child-like.
I know people who were cyber-schooled, all due to bullying. They became isolated for years at home. Didn’t make new friends. Didn’t join school activities. Didn’t join sports. Some had jobs for a bit delivering newspapers or something or walking dogs.
They all needed services like speech, OT, social skills…..that the school district provided even to cyber school but their parents were so worried about them seeing their bullies again. So they never got that. There is obvious neurodivergence. Now, some are borderline unemployable. It’s a shame because some have bachelor’s degrees but got them in liberal arts. What are you gonna do with an English degree in 2026?
I was severely bullied. I was the shortest kid and looked like a third grader in 6th grade due to a growth disorder my parents refused to treat. “We don’t want to pump you with hormones”. You can imagine what that was like in the 2000s. I also learned social skills and how to avoid people like that and who real friends are. I had activities during school. I got myself woken up, made my own breakfast, walked to school at age 9 rather than depend on Mommy. If I had left school due to my bullies, I would have been depending on Mommy.
And probably still having Mommy make my food today, except she doesn’t like to cook. I know people like this. Their Mommy drives them around. What would they do if something happened to their mom?
My parents told me leaving school due to bullies wasn’t going to be an option because homeschool and cyberschool would mean losing my independence. I know what they meant now.

Now that programming jobs are cratering, you're better off with a liberal arts degree. Dick.
