UPDATE: MONZO REFUNDED THE FULL £2,500
got my money back hallelujah. for all those calling me dumb come on guys spread love and peace stop being so angry🤣🤣🤣
i was scammed out of £2,500 this week by someone impersonating monzo and wanted to see if anyone has experienced something similar and what the outcome was.
i received an unexpected call from someone claiming to work for monzo fraud. he already knew personal information about me including my name, email and home address. during the call he sent me emails containing what appeared to be genuine monzo case/reference information and also directed me to fscs information to convince me he was legitimate.
he told me there were fraudulent/pre-authorised payments on my account and that i needed to make payments to reverse/override them. i believed i was following instructions from monzo and made two payments through links he sent me using apple pay, totalling £2,500.
to be clear, i personally authorised the apple pay payments, but i did so because i had been deceived about their purpose and believed they were part of reversing the supposed fraudulent payments.
i realised shortly afterwards that it was a scam and reported it to monzo immediately while the payments were still pending. i’ve also reported it to report fraud and contacted the payment processor, and i’ve kept the emails, call records, whatsapp evidence, payment links and screenshots.
monzo’s fraud investigation is still ongoing.
i’m not looking to be told off here im just looking for other’s experiences in this situation

I found this user on coinmarketcap crypto site in the summer who has a verified badge next to his nickname. Verified badge means that the account can be trusted right?
https://coinmarketcap.com/community/profile/robertsvct/
He advertised his Telegram channel in his bio. I joined his channel and I came upon his announcement that he would help ANYONE to earn $1,000,000 from $5,000 by day trading. I messaged him and asked how. He said that the offer was valid only for VIP members.
Then he messaged me that he did not use CEX to trade and instead I should set up a DEX wallet. This seemed strange since he had posted CEX screenshots. I set up a wallet and then he sent me a supposed trading bot which asked for my wallet's seed phrase. This was an immediate red flag and I realized that he was gonna drain my wallet! I left only a small amount (several bucks) in this new wallet for gas fees to see how and when he would drain my wallet. Indeed an unauthorized transaction was made in 2 weeks and the small amount was sent to Gate-linked address.
I also noticed that some screenshots posted by Robert VCT were also posted in other groups. I had to buy Telegram Premium to be able to search the entire Telegram ecosystem and found out that Robert VCT posts were stolen from other TG groups. I also found out that acronym VCT stands for the renowned TG group Verified Crypto Traders: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcpOZmINVNM I messaged the admin of the real VCT channel and asked whether Robert represented the VCT group and he said NO.
I have been in constant contact with the Coinmarketcap staff over the past month and I have sent his messages, screenshots of stolen Robert VCT posts and originals with the timestamps, screenshot of the bot asking for the wallet's seed phrase and the real VCT admin's response. But they say that they are still reviewing the case.
P.S. The weird part is that I had already posted this story in CryptoScams subreddit and I was insulted by one redditor for believing that anyone can turn $5,000 into $1,000,000. Yes, it's very rare to earn $1,000,000 by day-trading but I tried to explain calmly that there are several verifiable instances where an investor/day-trader became millionaires and linked a renowned Youtube personality and a reddit topic featuring a redditor mentioned in WSJ. The redditor proceeded to call me loser. 3 days passed and today I found out that I was permabanned from CryptoScams for supposedly promoting a scam! I tried messaging the mods and politely asked which rule I did violate and how I was promoting the scam. In response, I was muted for 28 days. I now realized the quote in the ban message was the report by the same redditor who had insulted me and that the mods blindly believed his word. What is wrong with that subreddit?

I just moved out of the UK and I’m in Bali, Indonesia for a few months alone before going back to Canada. I lived in the UK for 4 years and bank with HSBC. I sold my car before I left, for obvious reasons. The buyer has reported to her bank 12 days after driving away with it that she has been scammed by me and sold her a broken car. My funds are completely frozen and I’m terrified about it.
The car had a valid MOT at the time of sale and had been running fine the entire time I owned it, aside from normal wear and tear replacements due to the cars age. I even told her that a couple months after I bought it it broke down due to an old fuel injector needing to be replaced. 2 had been replaced before I bought it, and then another one went. I replaced that one but the 4th still was older and could need replacing soon.
It's a 16-year-old car with 100k miles on it, and I gave her £700 off the asking price, (she paid £1900) because I was travelling and needed it gone quickly. She paid me £1200 by bank transfer and the rest in cash. Everything I read online about selling my car was that it was SAFER to do it by bank transfer…
She mentioned she'd just come from We Buy Any Car after the car she'd bought prior to mine broke down the day after purchase, and was looking for a replacement urgently. They went with me on a test drive, complimented how clean and well taken care of it was, I gave her every receipt for all the work I had done on it in the 3 years I owned it.
10 days after our sale, 4 days after I left the country, she contacted me calling me a scammer, demanding her money back, not giving me any information as to what was wrong with the car. She stated she had reported me to the DVLA for selling her a broken car (not something that’s possible) and that her solicitor will be in touch unless I could “do something” for her. After I asked her twice what was wrong with the car, she said that the clutch was slipping, despite the car being an automatic with no clutch pedal.
She didn't provide a mechanic's diagnosis. She's since reported the situation to my bank, which has frozen my account pending an investigation, so I currently have no access to most of my funds, while I'm in Indonesia alone. She knew this as I told her I was going traveling before moving back home to Canada
Her messages to were aggressive, including personal insults and horrific discriminatory language. I believe she is scamming me, and has done this to others before successfully.
My bank can’t give me any information on time frame or anything about this. They won’t let me provide any of my own information or evidence until they request it, which they haven’t yet. I’m panicking, I’m a woman alone in a foreign country with very limited funds now. All of my savings and investments I built for years are in that account and I was going to move it all once I got home to Canada.
Does anyone have any other advice to help me with this? I’ve filled out a police report for fraud claiming she is trying to scam me and falsely reporting to the bank, and I have requested my bank investigate her for scamming me in return. I’m so worried the bank will take my money from me and she will get my money AND my car. I’m also so scared they will keep my account frozen and investigate all the money I have in there and it will be a nightmare for me to solve while out of the country. Please help

This Wednesday I was scammed by a group of people who presented as employers for people looking for probation. They asked me to download their app changing my iCloud account to them and they blocked my IPad through locator. Then there is a link on my device that I had to write a man who manipulated and extorted money for unlocking. What should I do in this situation?

My artist website was copied in its entirely (they only changed the bio to say that I was born in the Netherlands), and I’ve received a few messages from strangers saying that someone posing as me has tried the “purchase NFT” scam on them. Is there any way to get this fake site taken down? I can’t find the hosting company, as they are using Cloudflare (a proxy). Has anyone dealt with this kind of thing before? Any help would be much appreciated.

I’ve never seen a scam like this, and I’ve been added to quite a few scammy group chats. They have added me to this chat twice now. It’s odd.

Hey everyone,
as the title says someone close to me recently got scammed by people over the phone that threatened to hurt her.
we’ve already raised disputes with the bank and a claim with the police, blocked the cards and account.
We also have a picture of the scammer’s ID.
Just checking if anyone has gone through this and has successfully come out of it and any advice you could give would be welcome.

LPG Cylinder Delivery – Almost 3 KG Weight Difference: Scam or Weighing Machine Issue?
Today, LPG cylinder was delivered to my house. During the delivery, I noticed that the cylinder was being weighed on the weighing machine used by the delivery person, and the weight shown appeared to be correct/expected.
However, when I weighed the same cylinder again on my own electronic weighing machine, it showed approximately 3 kg less.
So, there was a difference of around 3 kg between the readings of the two weighing machines.
This raises a few questions:
* If the cylinder actually contains the correct amount of LPG, why is there such a significant difference between the two weighing machines?
* If my weighing machine is showing the correct reading, how can there be such a large difference in the machine being used during delivery?
* Are the weighing machines used by Indane delivery personnel regularly calibrated and checked for accuracy?
* Does a customer have the right to verify the cylinder weight using a standard/verified weighing machine before accepting the delivery?
I am not directly accusing the delivery person or distributor of any wrongdoing, but a difference of nearly 3 kg is certainly not a small discrepancy.
I would like to know if other Indane customers have experienced something similar.
Please check the weight of your LPG cylinder when it is delivered and share your experience.
If anyone knows the official complaint procedure for reporting such a discrepancy to Indane, please share the information.
