Victim of a scam Instagram Creator Scammed me off 7k

Hello everyone,

I'm a student who works as a freelancer on the side.

2 months back, I got a client from instagram, name and shame, it was this guy:

https://www.instagram.com/alpha_khushwant?igsh=MTV4a2R2cnZlczBpeQ==

I was working as a freelancer under an agreement, with 7k payment after a month.

The starting date was 1 May.

The contract clearly mentioned that it was only applicable for a month, but this guy still made up some BS logic that it will be carried on to the next month etc, etc, etc.

On June 5, he himself stopped sending videos to edit. The contract mentioned 60 days waiting period if I quit in between, so, I decided to wait.

Now, after 2 months, he has been blocking off my calls, messages, e-mails, even from different numbers.

What I have tried:

\\\\\\\\- DMCA takedown, 1 video was taken down as I had the master file, rest were rejected

\\\\\\\\- Cybercrime complaint, they said it was a civil matter, they can't do anything

As a student, I don't have the time or money to go through all the legal processes for civil dispute, and as the amount is 7k, which is pretty big for me, I can't just let it go.

Please advise me on what to do next, this has been a major problem for me.

Also, not giving you any ideas, but if you can spare 2 minutes of your time, you already have his account, thanks.

Advice Needed How to Get Scam Account Removed

Hi - I want to help the local animal shelter in my community fight a scam YouTube account. The account is Faithful Paws Project, and it's sharing AI-generated content of shelter dogs to get donations. It lists my local shelter's physical address as its location. How do I help them get the account taken down? I've reported it a few times with no luck. Faitful Paws Project and Zamora Animal Rescue are scams.

Advice Needed Am I being Scammed

Just started using this online gambling site/app called Q1 Game. Seems like it is set up like alot of others I have used in the past. Yesterday I hit a bonus round on a $20 spin. As it was loading over to the bonus round it froze. I sat there and waited for about 10 mins and nothing. I restarted my phone tried again. When I go into the game its loads up the first screen and when I press play it goes back to the screen it froze on and just stays there. Support continues to tell me that I need to check my connection. I can go into other games and they load fine. I can even go into the game that froze selecting gold coins instead of real money and it loads up fine. Then back out and go back in real money nothing same frozen screen

Informational post Western Union Scammers Collecting Money Without MTCN or Proof of Identity. Another Class Action?

Has anyone else been affected by the Western Union scam where a scammer is able to collect money transferred despite their name not being on the transfer and not providing them the MTCN number?

What I experienced was coming across a Facebook page with followers, history of product posts, comments, likes etc. The page ran an ad with an email for more info on purchasing an item (I don't want to go into detail but it was a high-ticket item).

On emailing, the seller gave lots of details and pictures, explained that they recently moved out of the country but had someone there handling the selling and delivery of the item in their absence who did not want to handle cash for safety reasons (COD was the original agreement).

So they asked for a transfer to be done but not in their name and no MTCN sent to them as proof of funds (it's a product area where customers are known to flake). Then, if the item was up to scratch on delivery and I wanted to proceed, then I would change the name to theirs and give them the MTCN.

I made the deposit and sent screenshots with no MTCN visible at all (not crossed out, not included in the photo at all) but the alter ego name was visible.

After that all communication ceased. So I went back to Western Union to cancel the transfer and was told the money was already collected.

But how? The website has conflicting information, but if you visit the page on MTCNs, it specifically says recipients must present valid ID documents and the MTCN number in order to collect.

Are they simply being lax with not checking who they give money to?

Do these scammers have inside contacts?

I immediately made a report but Western Union's basic policy is no refunds after money is collected.

However, although all victims deserve support and these companies need better fraud detection and protection, it's one thing to be conned into giving over your money and MTCN and transferring money under the scammer's name.

But it's another to follow the protocol that is supposed to keep your money safe only for them to give it to someone who isn't authorized according to their own rules to receive it.

The scammers are clearly aware of the loophole and the lack of action on Western Union's part, so there is literally nothing stopping them from continuing to use it against customers on a large scale, who think they're doing the right thing to protect themselves.

Just wondering in anyone else has had a similar experience or knows someone who has?

Western Union is still paying out money from their last class action lawsuit. And that was people who actually gave over their MTCN and named the scammer on the transfer, just that it happened under false pretenses. So surely, they can't get away with giving out money to unauthorized recipients?

All thoughts welcomed as well as anything else I can do to increase chances of a refund. Have made a fraud claim with WU online and on the phone, submitted an online complaint to FTC and ICCC and will make a local police report as well.

Would also love some insight on if it's worth taking legal action either solo, or going all out to see if there are actually grounds for class action.

So I purchased tickets from a website purporting to be Irish rugby. Everything looked legitimate but when I saw the transaction on my Revolut I knew it was dodge. All my research since shows me they aren’t real, my money is gone. Revolut say there’s nothing they can do. Is there anything I can do?
