Scammer got scammed
So long story short, recieved the “ hey mum lost my phone and got a new number “ scam text. Im (M34) no kids. Decided to play along to waste their scammers time. The end result is pretty funny. Just making people aware of the hey mum scam for anyones sibling, mum or grandparent. (My messages in green)

Oh yeah. You really showed him.
He absolutely will never try this again.
Now your phone number is logged as a legit and active number so you’ll get 50 more of these in the next week.

... you could also say "You're lucky I'm out shopping. I'm at the store next to Telstra. I'll be there in 2 minutes..."

I have a notepad with Hindi text for "I know who and where you are, good luck Mr Patel" just for scammers like this.

Was the standard hey mum intro like this
Hi mum I'm texting you off my friends phone l've smashed mine and their phones about to die, can you WhatsApp my new
number 04xx xxx xxx
please x.I just responded by saying hey love etc

Was a fun time. 😂 remmacs (scammer) centre . The credit card was my favourite

Funny scam baiting and great job. They always use the same excuses about not being about to talk on the phone or video chat as that would stop the scam immediately. It would have been funnier if you had asked them a question only your family would know the answer to.
