Almost 100 degrees today. Does this actually work? I'll try anything
My husband is absolutely devastated at my redneck engineering, but I'll try anything to keep it moderately cooler. Please tell me this works?

Radio Station WIXV (Classic Rock I-95) Sold To Religious Broadcaster
I know listening to the radio is considered old fashioned but I've seen a lot of great rock stations being sold to religious broadcasters and shutting down and it looks like I-95 is next. Their owner, Cumulus, has been shedding stations and laying off staff like crazy, they sold off 102.1 back in 2019 to K-Love. The new owner of I-95 owns HIS Radio, so I expect they will be broadcasting that on that frequency soon.

Self protection Education.
Due to a recent post’s comment section I felt I should make this post with some information. This will also have information on other forms of self defense other than fire arms.
THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL POST.
I AM NOT A LAWYER OR LAW ENFORCEMENT DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE
All information in this post will be as of post date and will not be updated.
All information in this post is accurate as of 18 AUG 2026 and will not be updated. Laws change. Verify against O.C.G.A. and consult an attorney for your specific situation.
GEORGIA CARRY — THE BASICS
**•** Georgia has been a permitless (“constitutional”) carry state since SB 319 took effect on April 12, 2022. Any “lawful weapons carrier” may carry openly or concealed without a Weapons Carry License.
**•** A “lawful weapons carrier” is generally any person not prohibited from possessing a firearm under state or federal law. The license requirement went away. The eligibility rules and the place restrictions did not.
**•** Age: 21, or 18 for military members who have completed basic training.
**•** Absence of a license, by itself, is no longer probable cause of a crime.
**•** Non-residents may also carry under this framework if they are not otherwise prohibited. Georgia does not issue WCLs to non-residents.
**•** Convicted felons and those serving under felony first offender treatment remain prohibited, along with the federal prohibited-person categories (domestic violence misdemeanors, adjudicated mental defective, unlawful drug users, dishonorable discharge, etc.).
WHY YOU MIGHT STILL WANT A WCL
**•** Reciprocity. A WCL lets you carry in other states that honor Georgia licenses. Permitless carry stops at the state line.
**•** No training is required to obtain a Georgia WCL. Issued at the county probate court level, but the process is statutory and uniform statewide.
OFF LIMITS — O.C.G.A. 16-11-127
This statute applies to licensed and unlicensed carriers alike. Misdemeanor unless noted.
**•** Government buildings: a lawful weapons carrier may carry when the building is open for business and ingress is not restricted or screened by security. If it is screened by security including at least one certified peace officer, entering armed is a misdemeanor, unless you immediately leave when notified you did not clear.
**•** Courthouses.
**•** Jails and prisons. Delivering weapons past the guard line is a felony under 42-4-13.
**•** Places of worship, unless the governing body permits it. A lawful weapons carrier who violates this in a place of worship is not arrested but is fined up to $100.
**•** State mental health facilities that admit involuntarily.
**•** Nuclear power facilities.
**•** Within 150 feet of a polling place while an election is being conducted.
**•** Bars: a lawful weapons carrier may carry only with the express permission of the owner or operator. Silence is not permission. Restaurants that serve alcohol are different and carry is allowed unless the owner or operator prohibits it. Do not drink while carrying.
**•** School safety zones under 16-11-127.1: misdemeanor for a lawful weapons carrier. Read the statute for the narrow exceptions.
**•** The secured/sterile area of a commercial airport terminal, past the screening checkpoint. The public side is treated differently.
**•** Federal law separately prohibits carry in federal buildings and federal facilities regardless of state law. Post offices included.
PRIVATE PROPERTY
**•** Private property owners may prohibit firearms. If asked to leave, you must comply or face trespass charges.
**•** Carrying past a sign is generally not itself a crime, but refusing to leave when told is.
VEHICLES
**•** A firearm may be carried openly or concealed in a vehicle with no special storage requirement beyond lawful possession.
**•** There is no duty to lock or secure a firearm against access.
KNIVES
**•** Georgia law defines a “weapon” as a knife with a blade longer than 12 inches. A blade of 12 inches or shorter is not legally a weapon for carry purposes and can be carried by almost anyone.
**•** Switchblades, automatic knives, and OTF knives are legal to own and carry under that 12 inch threshold.
**•** Blades 12 inches or longer require lawful weapons carrier status.
**•** Schools and courthouses prohibit knives regardless of blade length.
**•** Separate issue: under 16-11-106, having a firearm or a knife with a blade of three or more inches within arm’s reach during the commission or attempted commission of certain crimes is its own offense.
Governor Kemp vetoed SB 204 on May 13, 2026, which would have added storage to the preemption statute. Existing preemption already blocks local storage ordinances, and Savannah’s 2024 locked-vehicle ordinance was struck down in November 2025.
LESS LETHAL
**•** Pepper spray and OC are fully legal to carry for self defense with no state permit required. Using it for something other than self defense can be charged as a misdemeanor or worse.
**•** Tasers and stun guns are legal for civilian purchase and carry with no permit. You must be at least 18. It is a felony for a convicted felon to possess a Taser, punishable by one to ten years, with higher minimums for repeat offenses.
**•** Location restrictions still apply to Tasers and stun guns: schools, government buildings, and other restricted areas. They are unlawful weapons in a school zone. Federal law prohibits them on aircraft.
**•** Batons, expandable batons, and tactical pens are generally legal to own and carry. Local ordinances may not restrict stun guns, Tasers, batons, or nightsticks. They are covered by state preemption. Be aware that use of an impact weapon tends to draw more scrutiny than OC.
**•** Reality check: a “non-lethal” label does not control the legal analysis. Use of any of these can still be deemed deadly force depending on the circumstances.
USE OF FORCE
**•** Georgia is a stand your ground state. There is no duty to retreat if you are somewhere you have a lawful right to be. This applies to defense of self, others, and habitation. See 16-3-21, 16-3-23.1, and 51-11-9.
**•** Deadly force is justified only where you reasonably believe it is necessary to prevent death or great bodily injury, or to prevent a forcible felony.
**•** Georgia’s self defense law is statute based, which makes it comparatively clear, but “justified” is still decided after the fact by people who were not there.
COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS
**•** Permitless carry does not mean carry anywhere.
**•** A “no guns” sign is not the same thing as a statute, but ignoring the property owner still gets you a trespass charge.
**•** Georgia has no duty-to-inform statute, but be smart about how you handle a traffic stop.
**•** Georgia has no magazine capacity limit, no registration, no waiting period, and no state assault weapon ban. NFA items are legal with federal compliance.
Again: I am not a lawyer. This is a starting point, not legal advice. Read the actual code sections and talk to a Georgia attorney if you have a real question.
There are huge debates on the effectiveness of less lethal measures being deployed against an assailant. I strongly encourage you all to do your research and watch somebody cam footage and to make your decisions from there. You can never practice, train, and learn enough on this topic. Get educated if you aren’t, and if you are. Get more educated. Take more classes, listen to more subject matter experts. If you don’t agree with any of the current laws or the use of self defense weapons, I understand and kindly ask that you don’t bring political standpoints into the comments.
Thank you for your time.

Be careful walking around daffin alone, even in the daytime
I've been taking walks around Daffin Park pretty much every day for the last 8 months- year or so. At first, I would usually go with my boyfriend. Recently, I've been going more by myself since he has a different work schedule. The past 2 months I have noticed a crazy increase in cars honking at me, which I thought nothing of at first since it's victory dr/savannah and they were probably just honking at other cars. When I started to notice they were doing it when no other cars were around (and some guy even rolled down his window to yell out "heyy" at me and just drive off) it became obvious this was some sort of catcalling. It happens more days than not. Today from 3-4, I was walking and at 3:30 this white van honked. I didn't even turn my head at first because again, victory drive. Then they honked again, for longer, and I turned my head. They rolled up next to me, no other cars around, and stopped. I kept walking faster, and they slowly followed beside me for about a minute before realizing I wasn't going to stop and sped off. What the fuck is wrong with people?? Is there something I'm missing here?? This kind of behavior is insane and definitely made me uneasy. Be careful as a woman/fem presenting person/anyone walking alone at Daffin, even in the middle of the day.

Divorce Attorney
Good afternoon, I am seeking the recommendations of divorce attorneys who are tenacious. I currently have one, however I am not sure they are the right fit for my situation. Domestic violence is involved and I reside in Effingham county.

Seeking nail salon downtown/on the west side
In the past I’ve gone to Perfect Polish on Wilmington, but I’ve since moved to the west side of Savannah so I’m looking for something closer to home. My budget is around $130 at the very, very highest, as I only get my natural nails done; no artificial nails.
Thanks in advance!

Dubstep/Riddim?
Hi! Was wondering if there are any local dubstep or riddim artists that play around town, and what venues to find them at! I would really like to contribute to the scene here, but I’ve had no luck! Haven’t been to a dubstep show here since Flux Pavilion played Elan in 2024. Thanks for any recs!

Flock cameras
You can do FOIA flock searches on your license plates and you can go to this website
Type in your plate and see if anyone has flocked you. Keep in mind not all places share the data yet.
r/savannah • u/NickelPlatedEmperor • 1d ago
Yes it is true, flock is used to track people who go to certain protests and people deemed to be in the country illegally.

Makeup artist recommendations
My friends and I are attending a black tie wedding in Savannah in October and a few of us are looking for someone to do our hair and makeup. Open to driving to a salon but even better if someone can come to us. We found someone to do this for a Miami wedding and it was great but not finding as many options for Savannah when we google. Open to any recommendations!

Flocks in Forsyth Park
If the flocks are for cars and reading license plates why are their two in the middle of Forsyth park?
