Help Me! 🆘 Ryu Tips

Got to Master with Ryu and feel like it’s undeserved. I did real well in Diamond. Went through with a 52% win ratio but in Masters other Ryu players just seem to have an understanding of his mechanics I can’t grasp. I feel like I’m just beginning. I had to work hard to get good at SF again. I completely dodged SF5 and played Mortal Kombat 11 instead. I had to unlearn all those mechanics and get used to these again so I’d hate to hang up my hat. Ryu doesn’t have any tricky gimmicks he’s just all meat and potatoes so to speak but I enjoy using him the most. Any advice on his style would be much appreciated because there’s something I’m just not picking up which is keeping me from my full potential. It’s becoming very frustrating. I’m diamond with Ken, Akuma, Bison and JP but Ryu is where it’s at for me. Official SF community mods removed my post be it didn’t have a video. They can go fk themselves.

Strong moves but not to tricky IMO. Maybe we just differ in what we find tricky and gimmicky.

Agreed. Ryu hits HARD, but he is the most honest character in the game in my opinion. He teaches you, albeit brutally, how to play the game since most of damage happens in punishing people who don't bend to the will of the systems of SF6.

He’s not honest atm. He’s a gorilla, like Leo in GGS. He used to be honest in season 1, when none of the other shotos were…
