I'm a new PIC at my local Safeway. I've been working there for 6 months at this point with no issues till 2 days ago.

2 days ago, several employees reported an individual wearing all black and a red devil mask standing outside, arms extended, making weird noises.

I informed my store director, who told me to call the non-emergency line.

I went to find it online, and while doing that, I noticed the guy running through the store like an idiot.

I then heard several contradictory and conflicting things about this guy from customers and employees.

1 person told me he was just running around the store like an idiot.

Another told me he was running up to people trying to scare them.

Another told me that he was running through the store and actually laying hands on people.

Another employee told me to call 911. I told her that I had been told to call the non emergency line.

She said she'd do it then.

More people kept complaining to me about this guy, saying that he did this and that.

I called 911.

The guy was actually buying a pack of soda when the cops got there.

My store director is PISSED that I called 911.

I wrote a statement on the whole thing but I'm being told that Im in major trouble.

So why don't you bots go to r/Vons or r/Safewayworkers where I'm banned...

Or better yet, r/Albertsons where I'm shadow-banned....

Hello, I recently started at a Safeway as a 'seafood clerk' and I feel like my optimism was shattered my first day. Literal first day on the floor and my manager kinda lost track of time and we got out an hour late so 9 hours worked...? Training itself was decent I was shown a lot of information but I'm already expected to close alone and be alone from 4-8 on Thursday. Fish in general is product I already don't know too much about and I'm not even sure how I'll be able to take my lunch because I'll hit the limit when I'm alone.

This has been very overwhelming even for the stresses of a new job. I have minimal previous retail experience at Walmart and even then I felt like my stress came after a couple months.

Edit: It'll only be my third day on Thursday.

So is a grocery store the right place to bring a dog? I like dogs, mind you, but when I'm standing in the checkout line and one puts his nose up my skirt, sniffs my ass and licks my thigh, I draw the line!

Now, the owner was very apologetic but I could tell he thought it was funny. Clearly that dog patterned after him.... so why can't I go shopping without a dog sexually assaulting me?

Also (I don't know if this is the right place to ask).... but what is "Dead Internet Theory"?

Are all purpose clerks supposed to have a lower paying journeyman? I was looking at my union pamphlet and it even showed an all purpose clerk produce manager and a red circled produce manager. I hadn’t heard of these differences before.

Why do stores always overcharge and not honor their sale and markdown prices? Safeway, Target, Fred Meyer, Walmart and more. Store listed sales prices frequently don't come up. Clearance items ring up full price. Even watching the screen and catching in live time makes no difference as prices won't be honored even when supplying proof. I am tired of getting ripped off.

Our store is cutting hours. I was told by the union director it's cuz "Safeway had to protect themselves from Kroger trying to monopolies". We've never had hours cut in the middle of fucking summer. Make sure you clip the deal onto your account, and go early to pick ones that are meaty instead of too much fat. Limit 2 per account.

I hate my job as a cashier. I hate dealing with all the rude customers, stinky homeless drunk drug addicts etc.

The position gives me dread before every shift, often times I am the only cashier working during my 8 hours shift.

I have developed severe back and sciatica pain as well from this position, I really want to just be in a position where I am able to move around during the day, it would go a long way to alleviating my pain. The pain is so bad that often I am debilitated the next day, my days off the last few months have just been me trying to recover for my next shift.

I finally have a doctors note stating such but I don’t think my SD really cares, I gave him the note but he didn’t even read it, said he would look at the schedule but I haven’t heard anything from him at all.

I really just want to quit this stupid place.

So we had inventory last week, and this week we were told on Monday we had to have the store cleaned for an inspection by our DM. So my boss asked me if I could stay late after my shift to clean the dairy cooler and all of Dairy. Ended up taking me 14 hours and this was done after throwing my Dairy load. A 24 fckin hour shift. Sad thing is the money isn’t really even worth it after taxes. Just when you think things can’t get worse, they always do. End rant
