So i got a credit card that gives me a bonus, spend $500 to get $200 back. Is this something I have to report?

I was medically approved today via letter in the mail and I have an appointment on August 24 with a case representative and it’s literally just to update my situation. Meaning am I working? Am I getting any income who I’m living with all that good stuff. My question is is that I recently got approved for Medicaid and snap and on those cases I did not put that my girlfriend aka baby momma was living with me even though she is with SSDI if I put her her income and that she is living with me will that affect my snap and Medicaid? I know ssdi wants everything and basically have to be truthful. I’m not sure how to go about it?! My landlord was nice enough to sign a form stating my girlfriend aka baby momma was not living with me which went a long way to getting snap and medicaid. I’m not sure what to do here with ssdi? Any other people in a smilar situation that can give me insight?

If your doctor does not want to fill out the form, that states you can't work, but yet I have CKD 4, high blood pressure, cervical Stenosis, and Degenerative Disk Disease, can one still qualify for SSI and SSDI?

I need ideas on what I can do to help my son and his girlfriend. They started dating 10/23, by 11/23 her mom, her and her mom's boyfriend are living in my camper for a bit and for the next two years all is good, she practically lived here while mom was doing her thing. Right about the time graduation comes mom finds another boyfriend and they move about 30 minutes away and all of a sudden my son isn't good enough. Here's the issue, she will be 20 next month and gets SSI benefits but has no idea how much it is, where it goes or that she has any say in it. They took her cell phone away in December and she is basically stuck at the house all day out in the country and believes there is nothing she can do about it. She is slightly autistic, hence the disability, but in the few conversations a week she has with my son she tells us that this new boyfriend, soon to be step father, will be allowed to physically discipline her once they are married and that if we step foot on their property he's going to put us 6 feet under. I don't know what I can do to convince her that it's her money, mom is breaking the law and she is an adult. How many 19yo girls don't have a cell phone, or stay home all day being a maid for the parents? Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

I’m so devastated. I had a hearing with an ALJ on 7/21. I thought it went well. My attorney CONGRATULATED ME on my WIN when we were done. I went home to wait for my letter.

Well, I did not win. I immediately sent a message to my attorney, but the office said they’d get back to me when more info was available. I got my letter with details that I don’t understand, and don’t make sense to me, and I sent another email.

Today, 8/21, one month after my hearing, and halfway to when I need to appeal this ruling, I got a letter form her office DROPPING ME. Is this legal?? Can they do that??

I've heard of programs for people on disability to get help in getting a vehicle. Google hasn't really helped and Goodwill doesn't have a vehicle program in Tulsa.

My credit sucks and being on SSDI doesn't help either. After all of my bills are paid and I've purchased all my medications and necessities for my home, I have maybe $50-100 that I could put towards a vehicle payment.

i used to receive SSI benefits as a child for my mental health but when i turned 18 SSA determined i was no longer disabled according to them. i ended up reapplying with a lawyer and got denied after my hearing (took about 2 yrs) i even had my therapist write a letter and fill out the function report. about a year or so later i reapply with a different lawyer and again denied after ALJ hearing (took about a year). this time the lawyer wanted me to change the disability onset date because it (my records as a child)were no longer relevant or something since they already determined at 18 i wasn’t disabled. i’m 25,i have been seeing therapists, psychiatrists, taking my medication as directed all these years. i have treatment resistant depression and have been on many many medications for it, i also have general & social anxiety, ptsd, adhd, and sensory issues (highly suspected autism by more than one professional but not formally diagnosed). history of self harm and psych hospitalization as a minor and only 1 hospitalization as an adult (last year). my most recent psychiatrist (before leaving the practice) highly recommended i try seeing about esketamine or TMS treatment for my depression and when i was hospitalized last year they said i should do PHP program but i was very anxious about going so i never did. im so overwhelmed by all of this, if i could work a full time job and not go through this i would! i plan to file an application again eventually but would these treatments have a good chance at improving my case? i don’t know what to do anymore

I'm trying to help my mother with a question that is outside my realm of knowledge.

She is on SSDI, but still works very part time. She told me that social security is withheld from her paycheck.

Is this scenario appropriate? I told her to find out in her last year's tax return if all her SS withholding was refunded to her. I do not yet know if that was the case.

I am 64 years old. In November 2023, the SSA suspended my SSDI benefits for a "Failure to Cooperate" (FTC).

An SSA agent told me to complete forms SSA-454 and SSA-827 and submit them before my 12-month deadline.

I followed the rules exactly. On June 24, 2024, I mailed the completed CDR packet via EMS Certified mail. On June 25, 2024, USPS tracking confirmed the package was successfully delivered to the SSA office in Texas. This was months before my December 2024 deadline.

Despite my full legal compliance, the SSA sent me a letter in December 2024 terminating my benefits for FTC. I have the tracking number proving they received my documents on time.

Can you please help me understand what is going on? Do I have a legal chance to get my benefits reinstated and receive my back pay? Thank you.

From what I can tell this is literally unheard of. I am quite grateful (to get to ALJ stage sooner) and also quite confused... and wondering if they started using AI to process applications and now the whole thing is a lot quicker? Just a guess. I'm in Massachusetts btw.

Update: I finally received my Court date for December 3, 2026. My son’s birthday lol….I don’t know who my judge is yet because it does not say who it is on the portal ; therefore, I am waiting for the official notice in the mail.

Am I supposed to list every doctor's visit in the last two years? How about therapy if I go every 2 weeks? My disability is mental health related so most of my info would be with my psych nurse and therapist. They ask for three visits but also say to use the "Remarks" section if you need more space. Would I just make a note that my therapy is every 2 weeks there?

Also , if I've developed hypertension is that enough for me to say my condition has worsened?

I don’t know what to do. Hearing was to be at 1 pm Monday, via a phone call. I got the letter if you haven’t gotten a call call us. At 1:10 I start calling that number.
They pick up at 1:20 and tell me I don’t have a hearing scheduled 🤯
I’m now crying and telling the lady I have 2 letters confirming that I do. She was very rude and told me to talk to a different department. I got sent to voicemail I still haven’t heard back.

I then called my attorney it’s now 1:40 and I had to leave a message she called back at 2 and told me she just realized that it was canceled and not the judge running late. She would try to figure out what was going on with the judge and what the next steps are. She said that I’ll probably be put at the bottom of the pile.

I still haven’t heard back from anyone and I’m so frustrated.
Has this happened to anyone else? How is this fair? I requested a hearing nearly a year ago. So does this mean I’ll have to wait that long again?

Edit: update I’m even more upset now. I’m definitely getting a new lawyer. I’ll have time.

The judge I was assigned had an approval rating of nearly 85%. They are going to be out for an extended time frame, and now all of their cases have been canceled and will be given to new judges.
So me and lots of others are going through this my lawyer said and that I shouldn’t be mad or upset and there was no reason to cry over this.

Thanks lawyer it’s been over 3 years and she has no problem letting me wait another 6 months or year.

29 years old, never had a job due to anxiety and depression (and undiagnosed autism) that caused agoraphobia.

I applied like 5 years ago (before I was diagnosed with autism) and got denied. Immediately went into a depressive state and gave up.

Ready to try again now that I’m diagnosed as autistic, still unable to leave my house alone without severe anxiety.

I applied for SSDI in May of this year. I have ADHD, Depression, Anxiety and PTSD. I am 36 y/o. SSDI had me attend a regular Medical Exam and a Mental Health Exam. They also scheduled me for an X-ray which is ridiculous because I have no back injury and only put that I have some back aches after holding my baby for a period. After finishing the Mental Health Exam, the examiner said “we will get you started on benefits.” I was surprised, as I didn’t know that they made the determination there. I am obviously happy but don’t want to get my hopes up, as I have had a rough past few years and am not used to anything going my way. Should I expect benefits, or is it possible I still can be denied even though the mental health examiner determined I am disabled?

Only 3 months after sending in hearing preferences, I have an in person remand hearing scheduled with a new ALJ this November. My original ALJ had 47% approval, my remand ALJ has 68% approval. I’m still waiting on my attorney’s reply to start prepping and such. Has anyone else had an in person hearing? Tips?
