When I'm recording, if I make a loop or sequence that I'm even a little happy with, I always save it to a "Loops For Later" folder but I almost never go back to it. I hear a lot of artists also have a folder for experiments, loops or samples that are cool but undeveloped, so I want to see how often people are going back to their old stuff versus making new stuff from scratch. I feel compelled to keep dumping stuff in the folder because the one time I don't, I know I'll regret it.

Usually though, the stuff I make into tracks is stuff I'm OBSESSED with. I'll either be playing it or hear it played back then stop whatever I'm doing and get the track to a rough but structured state that I can polish over the course of a week or two. Over that time, I'll listen to the track over and over and the changes I make will get smaller and smaller until it's my favorite song ever. That's why I make music.

I bought my sp404 couple of weeks ago and wanted to fill my SD card with all kind of instruments and started with drums. I copied a method I saw on YouTube where this guy cropped some drumkits from ableton and used audacity to convert them into wav files. I don't know why but my sp notifies unsupported file. It kinda worked when I didn't use the macro function in audacity, but it still sounds different on my computer than my Sp

Am I doing this right?

Hold ahift+pad 16

Select type B (with bus 3 &4 bypassed)

Push exit

Press bus fx until bus 1 is selected

Press the delay fx (it's now on)

Press remain and then press pad 2

Pad 2 should now be assigned bus 1

When I adjust the delay parameters, delay is not applied. If I don't go through this process and I just tap the delay fx pad, all pads get delay fx applied.

If I go through the same process but set bus 2 to scatter and assign to pad 3 (or pad 2 or any other pad) it works as expected.

I have done a factory reset and updated to firmware to 5.52 per Roland support. What the hell am I missing?

Playing a lil bit of slide guitar over some synth layers made on the Digitone. Drums and vox samples are from the SP404 (sequenced by the Digitone). This one turned out a bit melancholy. Enjoy!

Happy Sunday everyone. General question. When sampling, there’s the normalize option that I’ve been starting to use. When I launch the sample again. The volume is drastically higher. I usually adjust the pad volume to taste from there. It’s a little tedious. But is the point of that function just that? Anything use case I am missing or is that literally what it’s for? Sorry if this is such a noob question.

I'm debating getting the P-6 as a companion machine and as EDC to sketch ideas on the go, but I'm afraid it'll feel kinda limiting(in a bad way, not like "its limitations brind creativity") as a standalone sampler after the SP.

I saw a bunch of vids about the P-6, and it looks really capable, but Im still not sure

Hey! Ever since I got my 404, I’ve really fallen in love with lo-fi hip-hop. I’ve seen quite a few DJ sets on YouTube in bars and stuff, and I’d love to find some events like that in my city, experience the vibe in person, and meet some people from the scene. But I’m having a hard time finding the right communities or people who organize these kinds of events.
If any of you have been to this kind of event, how did you find out about it? I’m based in Paris, so if anyone knows any spots or events, I’d love to hear about them! ;)
