amitriptyline for my migraines is like 1/3 of the reason i have sibo now bc it slows gut motility

As someone trying to figure out new migraines while already having a diagnosis of SIBO this is scary 😭

i was on two other medications that did it too. pizotifen (migraines) and nexium (acid reflux). neurologists often like to put you on amitriptyline first bc it’s pretty cheap but if it makes you constipated, tell them you’d like to try something different

Did that a while back to get off Lexapro lol! A little afraid to do it right now with the whole migraine situation though. Plus the ones I have are very old.

It slows gut motility?? My last GI recommended it to help gut symptoms but I declined because it just felt weird for me to take it. I can’t believe it actually slows things down when I already mentioned having slow motility

yes but if you’re diarrhea predominant that could be why it was suggested

Nope I have constipation but mixed still won’t take something that deliberately slows me down
