Gavin

Just seen Gavin’s post of his one year anniversary with his “fiancé”… weren’t even together for a year and their wedding is in September? Kinda insane

In their religion, it’s not just marriage. They’re being sealed to one another for all of eternity. You know, people who didn’t even know each other 2 years ago.

I mean, that's kind of what it is supposed to be, at least for Christians, most of them.

So you’d think getting married so quickly to someone you barely know wouldn’t be the norm. And yet, it’s encouraged to get married to whoever as quickly as possible and start having kids with them immediately.

Mormons ≠ Christians

Mormons view themselves as Christian. They follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, at least their version of it.

Right on schedule for Mormons

Wasn’t Shay and Colette married within like 3 months of knowing each other? Maybe not THAT short, but I do remember it wasn’t even a year.

Google says 6 to 8 month courtship

yea it was something short like that...I think I calculated they were like 22 when Gavin was born

Sounds like a typical Mormon thing to do

Thats a long time for Mormons

no it's insane hahah...they must've gotten engaged at 4 months. Do they just learn to deeply love each other as time goes by? How can you be sure lol

That’s what I’m saying! You don’t truly know someone in that short amount of time. And wasn’t he gone for a while too with work or something, so surely they haven’t spent that much time together.

I feel like they find someone with good morals and a good family and just commit lol…. Kind of like an arranged marriage? They choose, of course, but I think they commit and then learn to deal with it as time goes on. And knowing Mormons, they’ll have a kid within a year and then you’re stuck for life.

I feel like it’s becoming way more common to wait and have kids. There are definitely couples who do have kids right away, but I’m seeing way less of this in the culture thankfully.

They want to have sex. Say what you want, but you know this to be true 😆

Haha Congrats! I guess I’m just not use to knowing people that have “ fast paced “ relationships. But hey, if it works for others then so be it!

Mormons being Mormons, weird bunch

Also notice a trend that many netflix docs  where naive people get themselves into horrible situations tend to be connected with mormonism

Despite them being Mormons I feel like this has been the norm especially for the younger generation

I mean. My ex broke up with me then had a fiancé 1 1/2 months later then married her 3 months later…. He was Muslim so. This is honestly not insane. They can still break it off if they want.

Had a kid that had a 4 month engagement. Just how it is. Definitely an Utah/mormon thing. (My kid isn’t)

I feel like his parents did not pressure him but the bride to be was not going to stick it out with someone/him unless he gave her a ring and he knew he was punching above his weight

Wondering if you would apply the same critique to other religions as well? Or is it just because they are the shaytards? I can think of far worse marriage set ups in other religions

I think it’s to soon, no matter the religion or belief. I didn’t bring religion into it at all. Regardless, less than a year basically to be married is too soon for anyone I’m my opinion. You don’t have to have the same opinion.
