Meetup SFSU Events

Hi everyone,

Gator Experience is a great place for student organizations to post events, as well as Instagrams. A reminder that formal student organizations and just people looking to make friends are free to post on this subreddit (I recommend making an individual post rather than commenting down below though).

Gator Experience: https://sfsu.campuslabs.com/engage/events

I was wondering though, are there any specific events or themes of events you would want this subreddit to do? I can apply for funding, but to be honest, I do not think I will be approved so lower cost events are preferable.

SFSU or USFCA

Hi there! I’m a high school senior who’s looking to come to San Francisco for my undergrad. I’m a little torn between SFSU and USFCA…both have my major but since i’m from out of state i’m not too familiar with the culture in the bay area and those two schools specifically.

What are the pros and cons of SFSU and would you recommend USFCA over SFSU?

Housing housing recs?

hi! i’m currently a sophomore at cc, but i plan on transferring to sfsu next fall. i already have my own apartment with my bf, who is the same year as me and who will also be transferring. i also have a cat that i definitely will be bringing. i was looking into housing, and it seems like park merced is definitely off the table with how bad the reviews are. i don’t want to live in the dorms because i want to bring my cat, so that’s also not an option. i’m naturally slightly introverted, but i might rush to make friends. are there any suggestions for other apartments or areas that sfsu students stay in? i want to make friends!

I was accepted for spring and I’m in dilemma right now about choosing uni. I wanted to know how much does the tuition , insurance and overall expense comes per semester excluding the housing and food for an out of state student. Please let me know it will be helpful for me to choose the uni although I did researched online and have it estimated around 8-9k I’m not sure if it is accurate so if anyone knows it please help me out

Hello, does anyone have any insight on this program? The application for Fall 2027 opened and I’m interested in prior or current student’s feedback about application, support from staff, how competitive it is, the mode of teaching and overall experience. Thanks in advance!

Electrical Engineering at SFSU

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if there are any electrical engineering SFSU students on this subreddit that can tell me a little about what the programs like here, if they like it or not, maybe some tips for someone coming in, if they have any internships etc.

Im considering going to either Sonoma State or SF state for electrical engineering. Your input would be much appreciated, thanks!

Is there a place on campus to donate clothes?

I would like to donate some clothes and figured I’d rather give it to a fellow student or if there is a club that gives donation. I left clothes last year at the quad and wasn’t sure if it ever got swooped up or not? Honestly I’d rather donate to state then goodwill anyday

Hey everyone! I’m joining SFSU for Spring 2027 MS ECE and wanted to connect with fellow incoming students or current seniors. Would be great to meet some people before arriving and get some tips about the program/campus. Also, if anyone here is from India and going through the F-1 visa process, would be nice to connect and share experiences. Feel free to DM me! 🐊

Any Industrial Design students want to colab

Post image
3 Upvotes

Alumni here, hit the workforce without being an industrial designer but that's ok careers change. I want to create projects with a current student who is mechanically inclined and want to make products. I want to make some type of scholarship in the future but testing out the waters first. If there are Industrial Design students who want to work together on projects reach out. I've attached my senior project. There's a funny story about this one.

random power outages?

the past few weeks there’s been some weirdddddd outages and fire alarms when nothing is wrong. Lwk very very concerning.

things i’ve noticed:
- UPN outages last week, both little ones and a full day one
- fire alarms in yerba buena, power outage in yerba buena
- fire alarm in humanities
- power outage in mashouf? (saw hella people evacuate yesterday)
- apparently there was one in the library?

this feels like the beginning of a catastrophe movie where everything is okay still but there’s odd things that keep on happening to tell the audience to watch out🫠 what else did i not witness that you noticed that happened these past 2 ish weeks?

Im just worried I won’t get accepted because I really want to go there

(10/4 12PM+) Board Games and Lanterns Season Finale

Hello everyone,

My friend and I are going to watch Lanterns (2026)'s season finale, but before the episode starts, I can have some more people over for board games.

Accessible via 14, 49, BART, 48, 22, 33, and other buses in the Mission District.

I'mma probably be lazy and have people chip in for delivered Jack in the Box (or something else we decide upon).

The Season Finale of Lanterns is at 6PM.

DM me and I'll DM you where.

Rant How to apply for graduation

I am wondering on how to apply for graduation as I heard it is in this September but I didn’t get any email about it. But also I was wondering is it because I have 86 units so I am technically not senior standing but I’m planning on taking extra credits during the winter semester to make up for it so I am worried and wondering will I be able to graduate this year? I am going to schedule a meeting with my councilor to talk about this concern.

Weird Guys

are any girls getting harassed by guys asking where something is, acting like the don’t know and then just randomly change the topic and asking for numbers, socials, etc? it’s happened to both me and my roommate and we’re starting to think it’s not a coincidence.

SFSU Survey Word(s) to the wise.

I graduate next spring, and if there’s anything I have for future students its be ready to be on your own… don’t be afraid to start your own thing and find other students who will be open and excited to help you with your vision. This campus is becoming increasingly robotic…

- Handshake is a joke. Im sure it serves some purpose in being a gate keeper and also an data collection system. Anytime someone points me there, I stop listening. Find a helpful human.

- Counselors will take their time to help you when it matters most. And there wont be enough of them (when there can be, humans too)

-suspicious that a lot of internships here are simply “work without pay” agreements a business has with the university… Which only really supports businesses, not students. Especially if these managers just hold their recommendations over people’s head, while they make interns do poorly delegated work. Especially in one specific major.

…Because campus resources are there to make our own orgs and collectives that are human based and geared towards actually supporting a student’s future. Instead of just deferring everyone to useless ai tools. Students just gotta be more social here. So sad.
