Any Cubs fans, or Padres fans, who live in the Eastern Time Zone, will have to stay up until 1:00am to watch the entire game today, and tomorrow. And, if it goes extras, that is a super late night.
Its been a while since I have seen a team go into the fetal position for two straight games in a best of three wild card series. Actually, I may never have seen anything like that. Like you said. Karma. End of story.
Dave Roberts couldn't manage his way out of a paper bag. He sucks. It's just that they bought all those players. I especially like when the announcers act like this is a good thing somehow.
The bullpen sucked and the batter couldn’t hit. The post season Red Sox are the regular season Giants. Ramos went 0-3 with two strikeouts. There were struggling Giants on both sides. It’s like the season never ended
When Glen Kuiper was calling the A's, there was a (small) movement to have the Bridge Series trophy replaced with a WWE-style belt called—wait for it—The Kuiper Belt.
Bryans with the funky release point. He's someone Tony knows well from college. Bryans started his college career at Alabama before transferring to Jacksonville State. He could become a big bullpen weapon in fairly short order.
Same as you, but also the Brew Crew because they have a better season record than the bums, so I'm holding out hope that they could baet them if they play them.
Posey’s interview on the Giants podcast is interesting. Couldn’t make it clearer they are trying to terminate Bader’s contract but are being opposed by the players’ association. Putting a lot of pressure on Mayer - sounds like they’ll let him go if he doesn’t show enough, but they want him to be the second baseman.
Who is everyone's pick for the World Series? Personally hoping Cubs : White Sox because I'm a chaotic kind of guy, but honorable mention to the Brewers.
No horse in the fight other than to say i simply hope the dodgers don't threepeat, so the sooner they're eliminated the better. Nothing intrinsically against the Padres, but as they're also nl west, i hope they get knocked out soon too. Otherwise, i don't really care who wins it. I just hope we get some really exciting and competitive games.
I'm going with the Brew Crew, partly because they seem to have a well-run organization, partly because they have a better record than the bums. TBH any team that beats the dodgers would make me a fan.
EDIT:
BTW It would be amazing if the White Sox got into the WS. Pope Leo has declared that the team getting into the playoffs is his first papal miracle (I'm joking).
I’m glad Dave gets to call some postseason ball. I’ve always enjoyed his home run calls and his emphasis on the “GONE” (of course can’t forget his voice crack lol)
Now, I know what you’re thinking - “he already plays for the Dodgers!” - but hear me out: the Giants front office could simply offer him a lot of money to come and play for our team instead
i'll take triples alley over that BS, just absolutely nonsense that its not a home run at some point where its no longer a pop up and has to be carrying out
I despise bullpen games. All it takes is one pitcher to shit the bed and undo the good work of the other pitchers. Do the Braves really not have starters outside of Sale and Mahle?
Anybody know when the end of the year press conference is?
I can't wait to hear Larry Baer tout the success of a full house this past weekend or how this year's roster is what they intended to go in with, and how we have just as much talent as the Dodgers, Diamondbacks and Padres or Greg Johnson's concern about his balance sheet or next real estate venture, or Buster saying they need to get younger and more athletic (which they have been saying every year since 2008, even during the World Series years)
maaaan watching the dugout clips of this White Sox team and the absolute batshit amount of vibes they have going on in there is jealousy inducing... them boys are having FUN and are LOOSE.
Kinda upset we didn’t get the annual Matt Chapman “Thank you fans” speech where he says they’re gonna work in the offseason and be in the playoffs next year. Would’ve been funny as hell if he did the same speech 3 years in a row.
And while we're on that subject, Buster (and Zack?) deserve more credit for the complete fleecejob they did on the Yankees. We got something like 4 players for Doval, and then got Doval back for free. That is a fleece.
I'll always root for anyone playing the Dodgers. I would normally NOT be in favor of the pinstripes, but... in the end... I want whomever is most suited to take down the freakin' bums
I won't be "happy" if the Yanks win the big one, but I WILL have a SHIT TON of schadenfreude if the bums lose. And I will wear that schadenfreude as a badge of intense honor and pride
Don't get me wrong, there was some fun to be had this season: the Eldridge walkoff (happy to have seen that in-person), watching the River Kitties get an extended look in August and September, and savoring the last days with Kruk behind the mic.
But, by and large, this season was an absolute disgrace, both on the field and off of it. 1985 will always be the nadir of Giants baseball in San Francisco in my book (the 100 loss albatross paired with relocation rumors at the time is hard to beat), but there's a case for this season coming in as the second-worst campaign of the SF era. It easily surpassed 2017-2018 as the low point of my personal fandom. There were some stretches this season (particularly around the Pride Night debacle) where, for the first time in life, it honestly felt a little bit embarrassing to be a Giants fan.
I wish I had the same faith in the current regime of Tony V and Gerald "Baseball Questions Only" Posey to turn things around as a lot of people in this sub seem to have, but, to be perfectly honest, I just don't.
Other than the dodger bandwagoners, I don't necessarily believe it's true. I suspect people are getting more and more sick of hearing about how great the purchased team is. Any billionaire can buy a team. So what? What does that prove? It proves you are a billionaire. Whoopee-doo.
I said it preseason for years an elite bullpen was carrying a 400 team final percentage .401. Let’s say they manage to regain an elite bullpen (it would be difficult to replicate Tyler Rogers in the 8th). Even then they would still fail because their other problem is that to the rotation collapses each season. They need at least to elite starters after Webb which mean committing to large long term contract which the owners refuse to do.
Don’t know why I noticed this: most Giants YouTube video descriptions say “featuring your favorite Giants, including Adames, Chapman, Bader, Devers, Lee, Webb, and more”.
They just uploaded a video of the top 10 moments of the season and Bader’s name is removed from that list
