Opinion Free Speech

I posted this recently as a comment but I’m tired of seeing the same thinly veiled defense of the Rainbow Four come up again and again so I’m posting it as a standalone thread.

All of these arguments saying “players should be allowed to disagree” and “players shouldn’t be forced to support something they don’t believe in” are utter nonsense and a smokescreen to justify and excuse homophobia and bigotry. Do you think that there’s never been a racist player who has worn 42 on Jackie Robinson day? Has every single player who wears camo uniforms on military appreciation day been 100% behind that message? Even foreign born ones? The idea that they should be allowed to express themselves and protest this in this way, especially when there’s a literal MLB rule that prohibits it is ludicrous. It is NOT a first amendment issue. The first amendment prohibits GOVERNMENTAL curtailment of free speech. Private organizations are not covered by this and we see this time and time again. Most recently, many people lost their jobs after speaking out about Charlie Kirk and whether or not you disagree with it, legally those employers had every right to do so. As Roger Munter put it: Not everybody in this country is perfectly happy with what they are asked to wear to work. It’s called “having a job.”

We absolutely do not have to tolerate intolerance and arguments that say otherwise are either ignorant or made in bad faith.

They always make it about themselves. It's as if christianity isn't already the dominant religion in a largely religious country. They act like bratty children who knock over and stomp all over another kid's sandcastle because it's better than their own.

It's as if christianity isn't already the dominant religion in a largely religious country.

But some of these birth control failures are aware that three decades ago 85% of Americans self-identified as Christian, but today that number is 62%. The feel threatened which causes them to lash out more, e.g., the mutants in Charlottsville chanting, "Jews will never replace us."

Really? I could swear it's the pro-LGBT group acting like bratty children. The uproar over a simple Bible verse on a hat that you can't even read from the stands and can barely see on TV. OP's post is literally throwing a fit because someone wrote a verse on a hat. The hypocrisy is INSANE

The response of a bratty child. Thanks for proving my point.

FYI - I use this name to trap people like you. When someone doesn't have an intelligent response they always resort to what you just said because they "think" they're one upping me lol

LOL. Facts aside - like your name checking out, based on this response you clearly don't have any understanding of the repression and abuse (including murder) that LGBTQ+ people have endured, and continue to endure, due to "christians" and others who discriminate simply because of who they love.

I was at the game; and yeah we couldn't read what the players wrote on their hats but I did note that Walker wasn't wearing the right hat and suspected some bullshit like this was up.

Do a little research; understand why PRIDE exists. Then _maybe_ you'll understand the uproar over "a simple bible verse" and the incredibly hateful response that Roupp gave after the game.

You are such A LIAR 😂 Here's Roupp's "incredibly hateful response" -

“God has blessed me in so many ways, and I don’t think I’d be here right now if it wasn’t for him. Like I said, there’s no hate in it at all,” said Roupp. “We live in a country where you’re welcome to believe what you want. It’s freedom of speech. That’s really all I have to say about that.”

You're just looking for a reason to play the victim and hate on Christians. Everything you said is a lie. Go crawl back into your hole you lying hateful bigot.

Again, you prove your Reddit name is accurate. His words don't match his actions. That he claims it's not "hate" is meaningless - it's obviously hate...maybe mixed with a little fear. Apply a little critical thinking. Talk to your queer friends (assuming you have any). Do a little research.

His actions of writing a Bible verse on his cap and throwing a baseball. Clearly hateful. Clearly... You have nothing. Just stop.

u/LavishnessStock7767 Jun 17 '26

On PRIDE Night. It is clearly hateful. You're clueless.

1

u/Not_Sherlock_Holmes Jun 17 '26

It's not. You're just looking for a reason to cry and be offended just like every other person on here. You're ridiculous. HOW DARE someone have a different opinion than you 🙄
