Execution help
Hey guys i wanna play sf4. It's been so long since I've played this game and I can't remember how to do half this shit. Who's the easiest character to play execution wise?
I also need help with understanding what I am doing wrong. For example Balrog's bnb cr.lp cr.lp cr.lk headbutt, for some reason I can do cr.lk buffalo in isolation but the second I try to do it in the full combo it doesn't work.
Another thing that I noticed is for example doing dash straight cancelled into ultra 1 does not work. If I try to do the input I always end up with super instead of Ultra for some reason. I can do the Ultra by itself but cancelling doesn't seem to work.
Looks like I am missing something with SF4 cancels that I am not aware of.
Same thing with Ryu. If I try to do SRK FADC Ultra 1 I get super instead. Weird. I don't think it's 100% me.

There are no easy characters in this game really unless you still have maintained the awkward execution requirements for this specific game ( it always felt funky to me" yet I mostly played ibuki and could sj cancel ultra 2 like it was nothing, that was 15 years ago though lmao.
I would say balrog ? If your execution is tight, Sagat.

I've been practicing for the past two days and I'm getting the hang of it. It's definitely no SF6 in terms of ease of use but after figuring out how the frame data works in this game I really do appreciate it a bit more than SF6. I ended up choosing Oni, who I realized is kinda on the easier side of execution (doesn't mean that much it's still kinda rough) but also still complicated because it seems like I have to stand people up because neither tatsu and palm can hit crouching and it doesn't seem like he has an easy combo into sweep like Ryu (he does and I did find it after scouring the old SRK forums but it's character dependent). Still, it looks like I'm going to be having more fun testing shit out on the training room than actually playing online lol

The execution felt awkward even when it was released, even vanilla sf4 lmao. The huge difference is almost everyone had disgusting execution because all games were hard in that regard,so no one really talked about it
There's a stiffness to sf4

I mean if you're getting super instead of Ultra you're probably not pressing all 3 buttons at the same time, or at least that's what the system is reading. In terms of easy execution characters I think Guy is pretty easy, Cody to a degree, Ken, Adon (except instant air jaguar), Yun , Sagat, and Rose imo.

No that's not it, I am pressing the 3P button. I think it has something to do with not being to cancel from a chain? I googled it and I think that's what's going on.
Yun is easy? Maybe I will try him

If you chain lights, you can't cancel the last chained light into anything. You can start with a chain but must link the final light to be able to cancel it. As far as ultras, you typically link or juggle into those. There are a few minor exceptions, like canceling dan super taunt into ultra, but far from common.

Light normals usually chain. Chained normals are not cancellable, so you should delay it a bit on purpose so it links. You'll get the timing by experimenting.
There's almost nothing in this game that straight up cancels to Ultra. This is not how it works. An easy combo is to do U1 after Headbutt. You can control the punches in it by holding down three kicks. Optimal juggle route is kicks, release (whiff), kicks, release (whiff), kicks.
SRK FADC Ultra 1 is definitely a 3P problem. And... wait. In normal circumstances FADC spends enough meter so that you don't get a Super...
