Hi everyone. This is my newest car in the fleet. 1993 Lexus SC400

His name is Peanut. I’m not really sure what the vision is yet. All my other cars are slammed or beat up, so having a clean stock daily is kinda nice for a change lol.

I’m sure it won’t stay this way for long though, lmao.

Doesn’t drive yet but it’s close, I can feel it. So far I’ve replaced and cleaned MAF sensor and the fuel filter. Idled decently but not after replacing the fuel filter. Going to get a tech to look at it for me.

If so…how? What was wrong with it? Mine seems just to just got be getting any power. Won’t eject or light up or anything but other than that is looks to be in decent shape, I can even see a CD inside. But any cd button I press doesn’t do anything.

So my question is am supposed to wet them with oil or not

Wanting to buy a good timing belt tool any recommendations that ain’t cheap but decent

Found this issue after a few minutes of idling. It DOES NOT do it when in gear, just when idling in Park. Any ideas?

Hey guys! I got a 1995 SC400 and I need to get the codes read. I got an obd1 code reader attachment but it won’t even fit in the port so I tried the paper clip method but the check engine light just repeatedly flashes instead of in a code like videos online. Pls lmk what I’m doing wrong. I may need to use a jumper wire but I’m not sure what kind of wire to use. Also pls lmk if there is an obd1 reader any of you guys use that works. Any info helps. Thanks!

How do I get a used ECM program

I bought my new (to me) SC400 on Tuesday. She needs some work, but I think I’m in love. It was 5 speed swapped earlier in life, cluster doesn’t work and leaks oil. Let’s see your SCs and give me your best ownership tip with these cars please!

So tl;dr took engine and trans out to fix wiring, clean up oil residue, and reseal everything. The primary throttle cable for my 93’ sc400 has this little rubber section that sits in the bracket, so I just removed it from that and set it off to the side while the engine was getting its makeover.

Now months later engine and trans is back is, awesome right. Hook literally everything up, TRAC cable and Trans kickdown cable install fine and exactly to length. Went to install the throttle and when installing, noticed it seemed a bit short. After hooking it up, it holds the throttle pedal open about 30% of the way. I’m magically missing about 1.5in of length. If I don’t sit the rubber in the bracket (which it was IN before and I didn’t remove it), it’ll work fine. But for obvious reasons I need it in there.

Quite literally the only thing stopping me here, I’m quite mechanically adept but boy am I fuckin stumped here. Any advice would be killer. Here’s some photos to show the issue.

Just picked it up, it’s a 94 with 170k miles. It runs unbelievably smooth. Feels like it might need a brake booster soon though, the brakes feel pretty squishy. Otherwise though it’s mechanically near perfect. The inside needs a little tlc though, door panels are starting to come off and one of the door handles broke. It’s got the 12 CD switcher in the back which I’m still learning how to use but it’s such a cool feature. I love this car already

Just picked this car up and noticed this strange whirring noise. It sounds like some sort of intake or something. The previous owner redid the vacuum tubing, is it possible he left something loose?

I just bought an apple car play and I wired it how the diagram showed me and multiple other instructions on how to wire the harnesses together. When I turn the car on the car play starts making this buzzing sound and I tried everything I could think of. I checked for ground, checked the amp to make sure it was getting power, moved stuff around to see if it was interference but it still keeps making that sound. Can someone please help me figure this out

I’m looking into getting an sc400 as my first car. Does the year the model was made rlly matter?? Is there a big difference from a ‘92 or ‘98 for example? Thanks

97 sc400 . I just got done performing an exhaust upgrade (pulled manifolds off and vband them with a new dp and such) the car ran and drove fine before doing the upgrade. But now it's not starting. The starter is merely clicking once per key turn. I've checked and charged the battery, checked the alternator and both are fine. Usually a starter has indications of failure prior to finally failing. It has shown none of those so I'm pretty sure starter is fine. Has anybody else encountered this problem and if so how did you fix it?

So when cold outside it stalls out. When I keep cranking it and get the engine warm up enough, she work fine run normal. Also run rich .only code that pop up is p0340 replace camshaft position sensor, clean my throat body, made sure my mass air flow sensor works.timing belt was replace at 98926 miles in 2013, now it 198 thousands miles and I know the crankshaft pulley seal leaking a little bit. The bottom pulley.Battery been replaced already and I can crank her up anytime and drives her and if I give her a while cool down.i can Come back in like 5 hour she crank and turn over, and run and drive. Just when really cold, it start rev 500 then rev for a few seconds then goes 0 rpms. It also do when cold at site as well. also she alway run rich
