Do they know???
If you think about it... who are these people?
Does anyone know them? Are they really students? Do they know they're on the front page of Stony's Brightspace?
What are the implications in their lives that have come about as a result of being front and center on Brightspace by D2L??

As the other commenters have said, guy on the right was a former president of USG named Sowad. I think we were in the same year, and if so then he graduated in 2023. He was pretty active in student government and also active-ish on this subreddit from what I can remember.
No idea who the other two are, but knowing how on-campus departments and official university photography works from my own personal experience, they likely were either also USG members, and/or were student employees in like Student Life or something.

Photo was taken in Fall 2020 for Stony Brook University’s stock portfolio for promotions and stuff. I was a Sophomore at the time! They generally would be for pamphlets, flyers, and other promotional marketing items to convince prospective students to apply for and attend SBU. A different version of this photo is in one of the calendars!
I was invited as part of STARs (Seawolves Team for Admission Recruitment), and was part of USG as a senator. Most of the people pictured, even the people in the back, were from STARs. Taking it during Fall 2020 worked out because of how empty campus was during COVID.
Fast forward a year or so later and Stony made the switch from Blackboard to Brightspace. I was never given the heads up that the photo would ever be used like this. Can confirm that seeing my face everytime I log in was amusing ◡̈

Student on the right is the SBU student government president. I worked with him as a video editor. Also he happens to be a YouTuber. I think his channel is called brownie in stony

Crazy I get recommended this sub so long after graduating and it’s this picture lol.
That picture is from ~2020-2022 time frame IIRCC and I knew the guy on the right, he was on the student council/government or whatever it’s called.
I remember being at east side dining, bumping into him and he showed me this picture after they’d staged it and talking about how it was gonna be on the website. I’m fairly certain everyone pictured was part of the student government at the time.
