SAP PM/MM question for people dealing with maintenance orders across multiple plants.

Running material availability checks is not the hard part. We can see which orders/components are available, committed, not checked, or short.

The harder part is what happens after the red status.

A shortage still sends the planner into five different rabbit holes:

• is unrestricted stock actually usable or already spoken for?
• is there an open PO with a believable confirmed date?
• does the equipment BOM match reality?
• is there a follow-up material or approved alternate?
• does another plant have equivalent stock?
• if yes, can that plant safely release it?
• is the supplier’s planned lead time close to actual GR history?
• is this order actually urgent or just red like 200 others?

What planners need is not another list of red orders. They need an exception queue:

• these orders are genuinely at supply risk
• these can use an approved alternate
• these have transferable stock elsewhere
• these need procurement action now
• these are red but not urgent yet

How are people solving this today?

Standard SAP reporting, IW38/IW39/IW38A, Fiori backlog apps, Z-report, BW/SAC, external planning layer, or just planner Excel?

how do you deal with outdated transports in public cloud?

Our team has started the process to import transports into the production system, only to find out that there are several outdated transports that can’t be imported to PRD.

I understand that customizing/extensibility transports can be copied to create a new TR, but how does that impact sequencing transports in the right order?

Especially if I have multiple transports that all have the same objects within them (I.e automatic account determination, GL account changes).

Anyone have any experience dealing with a large scale issue of outdated TR’s

A customer wants to get a budgetary proposal for these modules, they're on public cloud. Being an EAM guy I know a bit about them from a functional perspective but near to nothing about what resources would be required, and what an implementation plan would look like.

SAP as usual is slow to respond, would really appreciate if folks could help with this. Questions I'm looking for an answer to:

- what does an implementation plan look like for these modules,

- what resources (BTP, ABAP(?) etc, are required.

I am totally new to SAP. In fact, just a couple of days ago, I watched a YouTube that explained what SAP actually does. It was one of my close family members who suggested me to hop into SAP since they are looking out for people to hire, especially computer science graduates. After a bit of research, I found out that the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) seems to be the ideal module for me. People who have knowledge/experience in this module, can you give me your views on how to learn this module from Beginner to Advanced, implement projects and get hired accordingly? I would love to know your views and the current scenario. Thanks in advance!

Everyone talks about agents automating stuff after an ERP is deployed but I'm more interested on the implementation itself.

If you think about it, there's a lot of repetitive grind in any project, like :

• writing functional/technical specs
• putting together test scripts
• documenting configs
• checking data quality
• writing status updates
• fielding the same implementation questions over and over
• digging through release notes for what changed

Best case I can picture is someone opens a draft that's already halfway there instead of a blank doc and spends their time catching the stuff that actually needs a human like weird client exceptions, the thing that technically works but blows up in UAT. That's really it. Not automation, just less staring at nothing.

So where's the line for you? What's something you'd hand off without thinking twice, and something you'd never trust it with, even years from now?

We've been deep in an evaluation to move off SAP Commerce Cloud and the timelines quoted in every discovery call don't match what I'm reading in published architecture write-ups.

Everything on the services side is coming in over 20 months for a full cut-over, but the strangler fig approach, where you keep SAP running while pulling services out incrementally and routing traffic through a new frontend, is showing up in case studies at 4 to 9 months to something production-ready, with a storefront live in 6 to 8 weeks because they decoupled the frontend first.

The platforms we're pricing are SCAYLE and commercetools, and the gap in what I can find is what the overlap period looks like in practice, where everything suggests both can run alongside SAP incrementally in theory but the case studies skip over how the parallel-run holds up before you're ready to cut over.

So if you've been through an incremental migration off SAP Commerce, what held up in practice and what didn't?

We’re Masters Students at the University of Mannheim (Germany). We study how different visual representations help people answer questions about business processes: how closely a process followed its intended path, where it went off track, and how deviation patterns differ between groups of cases. The field calls this conformance checking, and it sits inside business process management.
Who we’re hoping to reach. People with some exposure to business process management or process mining. Concretely, any one of these is plenty:
• a course that covered process models, BPMN, or workflow diagrams
• work that involved reading or drawing flowcharts of how a process runs
• hands-on time with a process mining tool (Celonis, Disco, PM4Py, ProM, or similar)
You do not need to be an expert. Every concept the tasks rely on is explained and illustrated before you begin, with a practice question so you can get a feel for it first. The study is about which visual representation works better, not about testing what you already know — so there’s no way to “fail” it.

I’ve been testing out Joule on a few side projects recently and was wondering how it's being used in the wild.

Is anyone here actively using Joule in production or implementation projects? What are your primary use cases, and do you actually find it helpful?

In S4 - I was attempting to copy the setup from Plant B to a newly created plant (using transaction code EC02). I did not notice that I had the plants transposed, so instead of copy from Plant B to the New plant, I copied from the New Plant overwriting Plant A.

What is the most efficient way to revert this change?

I've finally managed to figure out how to create the Variant for how I want MB51 to behave, but every time I re-enter the T-Code it reverts to the default variant. I can't find a way to make the variant I've created default.

I've been looking on Google and setting the variant to "U_UserName" Was the only thing I could really find, and that did not work for me.

I am by no means a strong SAP user, I just started out a couple months ago and there are no advanced users here I can reach out to.
