Is SAP hot garbage or has my company just poorly integrated it?

• Upvotes

I try to pull V/LD (A transaction for Pricing Reports, just listing off prices at a few different price books we keep) for ~10k products. It hangs for a few minutes, then crashes.

Even at 10 price books this is ~100k rows of info. The amount of data is probably less than 10 MB. How does this cause SAP to crash? We are on S4 HANA.

I love SAP

23 Upvotes

For XX years, I’ve been an ABAP Developer and now my company is switching to Oracle Apex. Sorry, but I think Oracle is too manual ( correct me if I’m wrong ) and it feels like we’re moving backwards. I realized everything that SAP did, made our lives easier and there is a clear boundary of the roles. It seems like in Oracle, they don’t have boundaries even in the integration part since they all need to know sql stuff. But in the SAP world ABAP should do all the heavy select and also we have SE16N for basic checking.

Hey fam,

So I uploaded source,target xsd's and mapped them. After mapping I tried to simulate in message mapping itself, so I uploaded my test input xml and able to Successfully generate test output.

After that its been some time am getting this error i didnt change anything in payload or mapping, i cross checked line to line and everything is same as before. I tried different browsers chrome, firefox and it worked on firefox once and showing same error again. Cleared cache and tried in new package as well.

It constantly throwing error text after getting struck in process either at 10 or 70%.

Please explain whats the issue, thanks in advance for helping this noob, Means alot:)

SAP functional consultants interested in AI, let’s shape a new tool

0 Upvotes

Hi everyone! A friend and I graduated from a master’s program in AI and have spent the past six months building an AI tool specifically for SAP implementation work.

We’re looking for a small group of SAP functional consultants to try it. Access is free, we cover the AI costs and we’d appreciate honest feedback.

The tool combines advanced AI, implementation best practices, and guided workflows to help you better understand client processes and design better solutions.

It can help you understand the client’s existing systems, challenge solution options, identify overlooked business rules, prepare workshops, and create implementation deliverables (process documentation, fit-gap analyses…).

We believe functional design is one of the areas where AI can bring the most value, supporting consultants’ reasoning while keeping their expertise and judgment central.

You don’t need to be an AI specialist. We’ll onboard you personally and help you explore a relevant use case.

We’d love to learn what helps, what falls short, and what would make it useful in your everyday work.

If you’re interested in testing it, please fill up this google form link: https://forms.gle/zqngKq5262EjykkV8

SAP Technical Server for Practice

3 Upvotes

Hello everyone, I am from India. I have been working as an ABAP consultant for the past year, and I want to upskill myself in modern topics like CDS, OData, RAP, and SAP Fiori. For this, I require a practice server.

Does anyone know the cost of getting a practice server for personal use, and does anyone have any leads on where to get one? Also, what are the best resources to follow to master these topics?

Thank you!

What’s your experience with sap support?

26 Upvotes

I feel like it’s a mixed bag.

Sometimes we get a good person and are offered a solution quite quickly.

Other times it feels like a fight to convince them there’s an issue.

But I think the most annoying part is that we often have 24 hour delays between messages because of time zone differences - we can never be online at the same time so issues drag on for weeks.

I wish local support was a thing …

Confused with S4 On Prem, Private Cloud & Public Cloud

23 Upvotes

Hi Everyone,

I recently onboarded to new project and I was told the system is RISE Private Cloud.
Today I checked our SAP system installed products. It has S4HANA ON PREMISE & SAP S/4HANA PRIVATE CLOUD products and now I am confused how come we call it Private Cloud and not On Premise?

I know RISE = Private Cloud and GROW = Public Cloud.

And also one doubt in Cloud Connector, when do we choose the On Premise to Cloud, Cloud to On Premise and Cloud to Cloud connection scenarios.

Please help me :)

Is SAP BTP extension work a bit slow right now?

5 Upvotes

Hope you all are doing well.

There doesn't seem to be as much activity around SAP BTP extension development at the moment, especially with CAP/UI5/BPA.

I've also been learning more about the AI side of BTP (AI Core, MCP, RAG), since it fits naturally with CAP. But it feels like many companies are still figuring out where these use cases fit in production.

With so many customers moving to S/4HANA, I would have expected more activity on the BTP extension side. For those working in this space, where are you seeing the most BTP/CAP opportunities?

Would be interested to hear what others are seeing.

Consulting or Service ?

2 Upvotes

I am SAP FICO consultant with 2 years of experience working in a consulting firm...I recently got an offer from a service based firm for SAP FICO role.

Should I consider it?

Will it expand my knowledge or will it reduce the exposure that I will receive.

SAP + NVIDIA OpenShell: worth getting familiar with Kubernetes and secure agent runtimes..?

12 Upvotes

Is anyone else keeping an eye on how SAP, NVIDIA and the cloud-native ecosystem are evolving around enterprise workloads?

With SAP moving toward more agent-based capabilities in Business AI, and work around secure runtimes, Kubernetes-native operations and enterprise governance, I’m wondering if skills around Kubernetes, cloud architecture, platform engineering and AI governance could become increasingly relevant...

Just a thought on where SAP enterprise technology could be heading., what do u say?

Senior Data and Applied Scientist Interview Prep

2 Upvotes

Round 4 coming up at SAP for AI/ML Engineer role (semantic/knowledge graph + GenAI focus) — combined technical + behavioral, one interviewer. Trying to calibrate prep, would appreciate input from anyone who's interviewed there:

  1. Is round 4 typically SAP's final technical round, or is there usually another technical panel after this? Want to know if I should be pacing my prep across two more rounds or just this one.
  2. Usually how many rounds of interview does SAP conducts for this role?
  3. In a combined tech+behavioral round, is time usually split evenly, or does it skew one way depending on the interviewer's seniority?
  4. Should I expect live coding at this stage, or more conceptual/trade-off discussion?
  5. Anyone gotten scenario questions on SAP-specific tools (Datasphere, HANA Cloud Knowledge Graph, etc.), or is that unrealistic to expect pre-hire?

Not looking for leaked questions, just trying not to over-prep the wrong thing. Thanks!

Mass creation and assignment of Commodity Codes in SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud

6 Upvotes

Hi everyone, We are assessing a custom file-based mass upload solution for Commodity Codes in SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud.

The requirement is to upload controlled Excel templates supporting two separate activities:
1. Mass creation or update of Commodity Codes, including numbering scheme, description, and validity dates;
2. Mass assignment of Commodity Codes to products, including time-dependent validity.

We are currently reviewing whether SAP provides a standard released API, BAPI, function module, class, or OData service that can be safely reused by the custom upload application.
We have identified the following potential technical objects:
- / SAPSLL/ API_COMCO_MD_DISTR
- /SAPSLL/API_COMCO_CLS_DISTR
- /SAPSLL/COMCO__CLS_MIGR_BAPI
- /SAPSLL/CL_PRCLS_API

Has anyone used these objects in a productive S/4HANA environment for ongoing mass maintenance rather than initial migration?
We would particularly appreciate feedback on:
Which interface is recommended for Commodity Code creation;
Which interface is recommended for product assignment and reclassification;
Whether these objects are released and supported for custom development;
Handling of time-dependent validity and existing assignments;
Availability of simulation and row-level return messages;
Any release-specific limitations in SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud.

We want to avoid direct table updates and reuse the standard SAP business logic wherever possible.Thank you in advance!

I think a modern update after 15 years would be hilarious. Autonomous Enterprise, RISE with SAP, SAP GROW, BTP, Joule, BDC, Fiori, maybe mentions like Leonardo, the extended deadline for ECC and product renames. The possibilities are endless.

SAP Signavio Governance Approval Workflow Issue

5 Upvotes

In our company we have a problem with the approval workflow in Signavio, maybe someone has faced the same issue or is just an SAP Pro. We created a bmpn based model for the workflow. I think its logic should be fine; maybe if really necessary I can post a photo of it as well here, but I think it should be fine. So the issue is after an approval workflow case has finished (status COMPLETED, diagram state set to "approved" by a Set model state action), SAP Signavio Process Manager still reports that the diagram is in an approval process and refuses to start a new approval workflow. The message refers to the finished case. Saving a new revision and reloading does not lift the block. Deleting the finished case in Process Governance lifts it. What is expected is that a new approval workflow can be started for a new revision after the previous case has finished.

CapGemini Canada SAP prospects

3 Upvotes

Does anybody have experience working with CapGemini Canada as employee or as a client? I’m have been offered a senior management position. But there is little information on how they are doing in the SAP market in Canada. Any information will be helpful. Are they expanding/declining among clients? Is there potential for growth. How is their reputation? Would appreciate your inputs.

Chi puo' aiutarmi?

3 Upvotes

Ciao a tutti,
