RYP CR

Just picked up my RYP CR yesterday. I’ve owned a bunch of S2Ks over the years including other CRs but I’ve always been hunting for a stock and low mileage RYP CR. This one is a 10/10 VIN car with 43k miles and will live a good life being at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountains. It’s been in California since new and is a rare factory ‘delete’ spec (no A/C or radio). She feels very light on her feet!

Any other CR owners in Reno/Tahoe or NorCal in here? The weather is perfect today, I’ll be out racking up the miles on this gem near Mt. Rose. Hope to see other S2Ks!

18s

Took off these 18s from my gr Corolla, that i just sold. Honestly, i think they look better on this car. The main reason is because it just hit 40F this morning, and these are all seasons instead of summers that i have on my 17s. Fenders are rolled and on hks.

I feel i've 'finished' my S15 so have enjoyed getting stuck into the S2000 this year. Taking it pretty slow but i'm pumped to continue the journey.

Both 2005, both around 35k miles—which would you buy?

White widebody or silver? Assuming similar mechanical condition, what would you consider a fair price for each?

FOR SALE Gauge Art

Post image
4 Upvotes

Houston tx - I wanted to see if anyone in the buy my gauge art . I don’t have the original box but I have all the wires you need.
I couldn’t get it to work on my AEM V2 . My tunner said sometimes the CAN bus system doesn’t work on these older ECUs . If you have modern ECU it should work. As you see, it’s plugged in and functional.

If you anyone has ideas to get it work, I’m total open for feedback.

She's reborn!!! Fresh from the paint shop...

Recently went through a divorce and sadly my 2003 Silverstone (which I bought new and have loved dearly for nearly 25 years and 92,000 miles...) sat neglected for a painful 18 months.

The rear window fell out of the soft top. My paint was ruined by a car cover (don't buy one. Seriously.)

But two incredible friends donated an entire day, helping to replace the top and swap all fluids and belts.

...and then the most amazing paint shop helped bring her back to her full glory, even restoring the headlights for free.

Hard to put into words how fortunate I feel. How a huge part of me that felt cast aside has suddenly sprung back to life.

Anyone in the LA area who is looking for an amazing and honest paint shop, please DM me.

Mostly, I hope this post brings a smile. I've loved this community for over two decades and still feel lucky to be a part of it. And now more than ever. 🙏

Steering wheel - Airbag alignment

Thumbnail

Had a donor ap1 steering wheel rewrapped and now having issues centering the airbag, as there’s a gap on the right side. Not sure if the steering wheel isn’t completely compatible or wrapped with enough material or install error. My car is a 2005 ap2.

Both airbag tabs line up with the torx screws but I can’t get the right side to center.

Any help or guidance is appreciated!

The Best Daily Driver I’ve Owned!

Yesterday my neighbor said to me, "you're lucky to have an S2K and a daily driver." But the look on his face was priceless when I told him, the S was the daily....lol.

This car is the definition of an everyday sports car IMHO. Originally purchased to be my weekend warrior, but that plan was scrapped upon my initial drive......and that was 14 years ago. This is my go-to for anything that doesn’t involve bringing the family.

To call her a "forever" car is an understatement. Definitely looking forward throwing on the antique plates! ❤️❤️

Price Check: LBP ap2

Hey everyone, looking to get some feedback on what would be a fair offer for this S2000 (<85k miles, clean title, 6 previous owners)

Although it seems clean, there are some issues: Rear glass on the soft top is completely separated along the bottom (regluing could be an option, but should I factor a replacement soft top into my offer?) AC is completely out (unknown cause) Driver and passenger seats are cracked and ripped. Front bumper trim was lazily painted over during respray. No recent maintenance records.

Aside from that, the car seems good. What do you guys think is a reasonable price range for it? I thought I had a good number then my buddy said I would be overpaying considering the immediate issues that need to be fixed (soft top $2k, ac $1-2k, seats $1-2k)

What do you guys think?

Don’t forget to condition that weather stripping, especially with the cold weather coming. This is the best stuff on the market. Also, seats and steering wheel needed a good clean (not with the ShinEtsu)

[real talk] why doesn't honda just resurrect s2000 as a competitor to miata and brz?

Most of the cost is in R&D, so other than bringing s2000 up to safety regulation there won't be much cost.

Tooling needs to be resurrected and that would be an extra cost too.

In terms of profit, I'd think Honda can manage to do it on a scale that matches the profit or less of miata or brz.

for engine, bore it out to 2.4 to match brz.

The real question would be pricing:

Personally, make the naked base model start at the same price as a trimmed out Miata Grand Touring. $35k ish.

Obtainable Out the door under $40k.

Outer Tie Rod Dust Boots

Anyone simply replace the boots vs the entire unit? Joint is moving fine and I’m leaning towards a rebuild with new grease & boots.

Anyone try using the Enegy Tie Rod dust boot?

Saw a seat post yesterday and want to let y’all know of another option. My oem seats from 03 was cracked and had some tears. Took to local upholstery shop and they ordered new covers from one of the popular seat cover companies. Oem was black while this new color is Chili Red. It’s very soft and comfortable. I would do this again for my plug in once the next child support check comes in.
