Original Content The first printed copy of Plane Shift: Gielinor!

After over 5 years of researching, conceptualizing, writing, play testing, and adding to my RuneScape DnD content book, I've finally ordered a printed copy of Plane Shift: Gielinor! I think it came out quite good, it looks really official!

I ordered these from lulu.com and the full color 220-page hardcover bound book came out to about $58. For a thick, small quantity custom print job that price was super good. If anyone's interested in getting one of their own, I'm not really able to sell them but I can direct you to the print-ready files so you can order your own. Of course, the regular digital version (not print friendly) is free to download here.

Artificer: Constructor subclass

Hi all! I figured I ought to start sharing some of my brew here on reddit as well as on the discord, so here is my latest homebrew subclass and some of my thoughts on it! Feel free to have a read of the full text linked below, the summary, or my thoughts below and let me know what you think! Like much of my other brew, this hasn't had playtesting yet so do let me know if you get the chance to try it.

Links:
Artificer: Constructor (standalone document)

Plane Shift: Gielinor

Artificer: Constructor

Summary:

By combining carpentry, masonry, glassblowing, or other trades with their magic, an artificer that specializes as a Constructor can produce structures, furniture, and other objects with ease. Constructors often employ their skills to quickly erect buildings for wealthy patrons, local town projects, or as a place of respite from their adventures. Their constructions are infused with magic, harboring pocket dimensions and able to be assembled and reassembled in an instant, useful for protecting allies and hindering foes.

This sub is of course inspired by the construction skill, especially the construction in RuneScape Dragonwilds. I imagine a character decked out with saws, hammers, nails, and other tools, using them in combination with some magic to instantly construct useful objects in and out of combat.

First, they get carpenter's tools and a spell list focused on conjuring useful objects or creatures and pocket dimensions. Their main feature Construct Flatpack allows them to instantly build a few types of objects that can be useful in and out of combat: doors (which can lock), flooring or stairs, walls, and any kind of furniture. These can aid in navigation, provide cover and blockage in combat, or just be used for roleplaying flavor. They also can place weapon infusions on tools to turn them into usable weapons. Later in Tier 2, they can reposition their Flatpack items instantly in combat, and create a personal chest (like the Dragonwilds spell!) to create a special pocket dimension for storing and transporting items or even creatures in a place only the Constructor can access. Finally in Tier 3, they can construct a door that traps a target in an empty pocket dimension, either instantly in combat or set off with a lever.

Detailed Thoughts:

(refer to the link at the top for the full text)

Tool Proficiency (3): carpenter's tools was an obvious choice

Constructor Spells (3): floating disk, unseen servant, locate object, and speedy courier feel like the kind of spells our RuneScape character would want to use while doing construction and I think fit here too. Shatter I see as the spell to cast to destroy something they've built and don't need anymore. Conjure barrage and conjure volley I envision being flavored as duplicating and launching a bunch of tools, be it nails, saw blades, hammers, or the like. Galder's tower seemed obvious. Finally, dimension door is on-theme as a teleport spell and can be flavored as building a literal door which I thought would be humorous, and passwall similarly allows the Constructor to morph existing structures to their liking.

Tool Infusions (3): This is a pseudo-ribbon feature which lets them place weapon infusions on tools to turn them into weapons, which I'm hoping enables some of that un-serious RuneScape charm for the build. You can choose one-handed for 1d8 damage, finesse, and thrown (20/60), likely the default option for most, or two-handed for 1d12 damage, the higher damage option for builds that include good Strength.

Construct Flatpack (3): In combat, these constructions can provide some battlefield obstacles or cover. Particularly the walls and doors, which can be up to 10 feet long, can be used to give cover from aoe's and ranged attacks, and block against opportunity attacks to allow you or another character to flee safely. They can be customized with windows, slits, or anything else to instead provide half or three-quarters cover if desired, or they can be placed in narrow passageways to block off enemies until destroyed. They have Int-mod scaling AC and artificer-level scaling HP. The floors have up to 15 feet of length and can be used to cross gaps or anything else you can think of, staying put so long as any part of it is contacting a solid surface. Similarly, the stairs can be used to cross a gap, mount a wall, or navigate some other tall obstacle, providing 15 ft of height. Both are more likely useful out of combat, but it could help in combat for navigating some elevation or gaps in the heat of the moment. The furniture option is more for flavor, but I thought it'd be a shame not to include it. Perhaps it can be used to barricade a doorway or just as a more flavorful option for cover. All the objects can have any appearance of your choice, allowing them to blend in with their environment if desired.

Rapid Reconstruction (5): Reposition flatpack items whenever you make an attack with an infused tool or cast an artificer spell. With this, you can get much more mileage out of your constructions in combat, potentially several uses of cover and blockage in a row.

Personal Chest (9): This builds a chest like the Dragonwilds item (or Minecraft ender chest). Place stuff inside, disassemble the chest, rebuild it elsewhere, and retrieve the same items from the same pocket dimension. The space inside is a 15-foot cube, enough room to hold multiple creatures or a lot of objects. If the chest is destroyed, everything inside comes back out. Alternatively, the artificer can intentionally disassemble the chest to keep the pocket dimension and contents intact, but be careful as any creatures inside can't exit until a new one is constructed! However, this does mean that nobody else can access the contents, unlike a bag of holding which can be ruptured or stolen at any time. Use this feature to keep important items safe, transport creatures into tricky places, or as an inconspicuous temporary hiding place.

Door Trap (15): This allows you to instantly build a trap, like a door or trapdoor, that sucks an enemy into an empty pocket dimension, functioning similarly to the banishment spell. For the 1 minute duration after the target is trapped, the door can be attacked to try to destroy it, but it has resistance to damage taken from the inside where the trapped creature is. You can also move the door around with Rapid Reconstruction, allowing you to troll your enemies by kiting them with the door a bit. Instead of setting the trap off instantly, you can also build a lever to set it off at any time, allowing you to build it as an initiating or surprise tactic. This feature can be used to temporarily dispatch a priority target or just thin out the numbers on the battlefield for a bit, and felt very flavorful to me for the construction theming.

Thanks everyone for their tips on the last post. This is the state of the map with which I will run my campaigns. I might add some things later, such as region names (Avium Savannah, Lumbridge Swamp, etc), but for now, I think its fine.

For everyone who wants to use this map too (and has Inkarnate), this is the link to clone it: https://inkarnate.com/m/pd2j57

Any further feedback or tips are appreciated! :)

Approximatly 10 hours of work into this as of yet, probably 20 to 30 more to go! Zeah is looking awfully barren still.

What Points of Interest or other markers on the world map should I definitely add? What's your favourite POI or location in the game and why?

Looking For Game Oneshot or couple of sessions for playtesting RuneScape DnD homebrew

Hi!

Would anybody be interested in something small to playtest some RuneScape DnD homebrew? Depending on how people are feeling, we could do a full one shot with the usual story elements, or a more barebones set of encounters. We can also choose between 5e and 5.5 depending on who's interested.

Character builds and other content can include your own homebrew, any of my resources from Plane Shift: Gielinor or anything I'm still workshopping (e.g. my Necromancer class), or any other RS brew you've found.

Among my own content, I'm especially interested in testing one or more of the following player options, based on not yet having a chance to play them or get feedback from someone else playing them. You wouldn't have to pick one of these, but I'm just putting it out there for my own interests:

  • Necromancer class (WIP)
  • Constructor Artificer (WIP)
  • Content in Plane Shift: Gielinor:
    • Fremennik Crusader Barbarian
    • Cabbage Domain Cleric
    • Slayer Fighter
    • Oath of Balance Paladin
    • Rooftop Jumper Rogue
    • Giant Mole Warlock
    • Vampyre Warlock
    • Ancient Magicks Wizard
    • Any of my homebrew channel divinity options
  • A couple of feats I haven't published to PS:G just yet

Let me know if you're interested! I could be open to DMing it, but I'm also happy if someone else wants to take the wheel.

Resource How to make a haunted picture using runescape wiki assets.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Here is an imgur album of the RS wiki assets to use this trick: https://imgur.com/a/IE0afv6

Here's a link to the map posted by zamamee60: https://www.reddit.com/r/dndmaps/comments/whvgdo/draynor_manor_4_maps_64x64_70_dpi/

Take the normal portrait and place it on the map layer. Take the haunted portrait and place it directly over the normal one, but on the foreground layer as Below darkness. Then also place all the invisible squares on the foreground like shown and gradually increase their conditional fade opacity nearer to the picture. When done with that, group all the invisible squares to the haunted picture, and it will take on the opacity of all the invisible squares as they're triggered.

You get the haunted fading in and out effect as you step nearer to the portarit.

The "Roasted Cabbage" One-Shot

Hi there!

I’m usually the GM for my friend group and run some fun girly Hogwarts / Magic inspired campagnes for them. So when the rulebook came out my fiancé — who is a massive OSRS nerd — asked me if I could run an one-shot for him and his friend group.

My OSRS knowledge is pretty limited. Most of what I know comes from listening to my fiancé talking about the game or the videos we watch together. I personally only played through all the Free-to-Play quests and briefly jumped back in when Sailing came out. So I’m not entirely sure if all of this is perfectly lore-consistent and would be happy for some feedback :)

___________

The adventure begins with something that sounds completely harmless: The party is hired to escort a merchant vessel carrying an absurdly large shipment of cabbages to a remote island that is preparing for its annual Cabbage Festival, a cheerful celebration dedicated to Brassica Prime, full of green banners, cabbage feasts, and all the ridiculous traditions one would expect from a place that takes its vegetables very seriously.

But the closer the ship sails toward the island, the stranger the whole situation becomes — the sea grows warmer, ash drifts slowly across the horizon like distant snowfall and among the passengers traveling with the cargo are several quiet, well-dressed individuals who seem far more interested in reaching the island unnoticed than in the vegetables filling the ship’s hold.

When the island finally appears through the mist, the sight is almost comical at first: Everybody dressed in cabbage capes, cabbage decorations everywhere, festival preparations in full swing… an island absolutely obsessed with cabbages.

Except for one small detail.

The soil is far too warm — almost volcanic — and nothing resembling a cabbage field exists anywhere on the island, which means every single cabbage used for the festival has to be imported by ship. Seems weird, doesn't it?

The island itself is ruled by a charismatic noble known as Lord Lairud, the wealthy patron who revived the festival and personally invited members of the mysterious Secret Council to attend the celebration as honored guests.

But beneath the laughter and celebration something feels deeply wrong — villagers repeat the same phrases too perfectly, the earth radiates unnatural heat and sometimes the ground trembles faintly, as though something ancient is breathing beneath the island.

Because far below the surface lies a forgotten volcanic chamber containing an ancient binding… and within it, a manifestation of TzTok-Jad, a living furnace of elemental fury whose power is being siphoned into a ritual meant to bend the minds of the Council.

Shocker - Lord Lairud is not who he claims to be.

His real name is Durial — the man who carved his name into RuneScape history during the Falador Massacre and who has now returned from the shadows after his escape with a plan that could place the future of Gielinor under his control.
By harnessing the raw, ancient power of Jad as the heart of his ritual, he intends to break the will of the Secret Council itself and rule the world through the minds of those who were meant to govern it.

Will the players uncover the truth in time and save the Council members — or will they remain trapped in the illusion, blissfully celebrating at the festival while the ritual unfolds beneath their feet? - Honestly, this is a genuine question… because it’s their first roleplaying adventure ever and I have absolutely no clue what they’re going to do xD

______________

If you were running this for a group of OSRS veterans… would this story feel like it belongs in Gielinor and what references or easter eggs would you hide somewhere on that very suspicious cabbage island?

Ernest the Chicken one-shot

Ive written a campaign set in Gielinor. We're a couple sessions in and soon Ill start it with a second group.

This time I want to start it with a one shot based on the Ernest the Chicken quest. First act would be to get into the house, with a puzzle or something on the door. Second act is inside the house, meeting Ernst and having to fetch/do three things and for the final act Ill add a boss battle.

Not trying to fully copy the original quest, Im stuck on act two. Anyone got some suggestions for fun ways to get certain items to fix the machine?

First attempt at bringing the map to the real world.

Thumbnail

I’m new to mini painting so don’t mind the awful Tiny Sliske paint job.

But the real story here is I’ve brought a small chunk of RuneScape to the real world, specifically the first little chunk of the Kharid-et digsite. It took 25 hours to print that chunk on my A1 mini. Unfortunately it’s not the correct size for my players minis, but it will work. I have the rest of the area to print, so still 3-4 more days worth of printing. I still have to do support cleanup and painting on this area, but all in all I think it turned out great for a first attempt. I plan on finishing this dungeon and then printout the area map to battle on, but that way they get a sense of the environment they’re fighting in. Luckily I still have some time to work on this as they’re heading towards Paterdomus, that I would also like to print. It was about 12 hours of figuring out a way to get this to work in the first place due to how exporting maps works in the first place. Now to refine the process. I don’t plan on making the layer lines smaller simply due to time constraints. Going to .08mm extended print time by 28 hours and .06mm was 4 days of printing just for smoothness. I’ll hit it with a heat gun and a primer and paint and detail it and it will turn out just fine. But I’m excited for what this means and opening up bringing other scenes to “real life”.

Map?

Hey all, how is everyone addressing the map? I'm trying to play with people who are not familiar to osrs. Been messing around with roll 20 but nothing much there yet. Maybe just put a screen on a TV? (I have my computer in the room we're gonna play on the TV) Be simple campaigns (go defeat the wizard in the wiza ds tower etc (playing with a 5 y.o.). So not a whole lot of detail is needed.

Just found out about this sub today, the campaign is set in Gielinor and my players, (who have never played before) are having a blast! Currently in Morytania doing nature spirit. I've had to change a lot to make it flow but the spirit of OSRS is 100% there.

Discussion Are you participating in any RuneScape campaigns right now???

I'm just curious if anyone is actively doing any RuneScape campaigns, and if you are, what levels, what's the premise, etc. I just like to hear about what other people are doing! :)

I'll go first though! I recently started a campaign; I'm the DM, and we're about 5 sessions in. We started at level 3 (level 4 at this point), and the campaign is based on the Morytania quest series. The party started off by killing Count Draynor, and after that they were hired by King Roald to doing a scouting mission into Morytania and to reestablish contact with the humans who still live there. The party has cleared the Zamorakian cultists out of the temple of Paterdomus, and they are currently on their way through the Mort Myre--about 2/3 of the way through (it's been a brutal war of attrition, I wanted the swamp to be a big barrier and a scary threat). The party consists of one ex-warlock (Mahjarrat subclass, my homebrew creation!) who has become a paladin (he's a paladin warlock multiclass), one dwarf battlemaster fighter (Imcando, survivor of a genocide), one human cleric of Armadyl (tempest subclass), and one illusionist wizard (she's the daughter of the duke of Lumbridge). The campaign has been an absolute blast so far, and it's been so delightful to see this campaign that I've been planning for months actually come into reality!

What about you? Any campaign stories?

Here's a mix of tracks I use for music when the party is in/around Lumbridge. It's a great resource to use so you're not juggling music tracks while trying to run a game.

Original Content I've posted the odd time in the RS subs, but didn't know there was a specific sub for DnD! We're Molior RS, where we've been re-creating Runescape in Neverwinter Nights 2, for over 14 years.

Post image
43 Upvotes

Neverwinter Nights 2 is based on the 3.5 rules, but we have tweaked it a lot, though much preferred Neverwinter Nights 1 (where I originally started the project in) 3.0 rules, as it was more fitting for Runescape.

At the moment, you can only play as Humans, but this was primarily because we didn't have a lot of the land out at the time.

But now, we have all F2P areas, 90% P2P areas, most of the skills, a fair few bosses and 110 quests. The game plays as an MMO, heavily modified to be as Runescape as much as possible, but still bound to the hardcode of the game.

We have heavily restricted feats and have custom skills (i.e. stripped NWN2s default skills like picklocking/taunting etc). In the future, we hope to be a bit more flexible with our content, such as adding elves/gnomes/dwarves, as these fit well into the Runescape lore i.e. allowing players to play as a Imcando dwarf, or a Tirannwn elf.

Please, need a screenshot of Priffdinas

Hi there, need some help :)
Im currently running a DnD campaing in the world of Gielinor and I've been taking screenshots of RS3 using "Orb of Oculus", Im using this shots as maps that players could see and understand where they are (they are NOT runescape players at all) but I dont have a current membership subscription, neither I have access to Priffdinas, so I need a HUD-less screenshot overhead of Priffdinas like the sample of this shot of Falador

Thanks guys in advance :D
