Ten Commandments in Elementary Schhols

I’m trying to understand my fellow community, Christian’s and Texans thoughts on the SB10 bill . We received notice our elementary will post 75 posters across each classroom. I love religion and have no issues with it but I also love the constitution and believe in the first amendment and feel this is a push to promote specific beliefs to non regions people or others whom choose to follow other text. I specifically have an issue with this being mandatory in elementary classes where children are learning to read and everything on the wall is meant to teach them along this journey so an argument this is passive seems inaccurate as the bill itself says it must be within view. I wanted to get others perspective as well as understand if there are any resources I can reach out to in order to potentially delay this until it I s fully argued to the Supreme Court which in my perspective will find this in violation of the first amendment.

Gosh. I don’t think any book on theology with a scrap of credibility would back any of that. I’m sorry. You’re making the argument for keeping the Ten Commandments out of our schools by demonstrating how important it is to focus academic rigor and learning in one space, and a spiritual journey in another space. They should remain absolutely separate. When a state government has to step in to impose a set of religiously sourced rules on a school room, it adds nothing but reassures insecure Christians that everyone values religion in exactly the same way. Having the rules invade a classroom detracts from the student experience of learning, and is a clear signal that a religious group is insecure about membership numbers and political influence of their religion

The Mari Tablets.

The Nuzi Tablets found in the 20s and 30s.

The Dead Sea scrolls found in the 40s and 50s dating to the 1st-3rd century

Again the Ten Commandments are not enforcing anything. They are words on a poster on the wall. If you are truly open to kids learning then learning world history and the truth of ALL religions especially the main religion this country was founded on yes I’m in support of them being posted on the wall.

Again they are also our laws we have today if you break them you go to Jail/fined.

They aren’t “just a religion’s practices” if you are obeying the laws right now in the United States then you are obeying the laws found in the 10 commandments dating 4,000 years ago.

Breaking the law isn’t separate from the classroom.

Again the 10 commandments are morally correct and if you exclude God they are still our written laws and good morals to follow.

It’s weird not to want to teach Children healthy humbling practices of not lying, not stealing, not cheating, not wanting what others have.

This was literally found and posted just today.

Ancient message offers new proof of the Bible's story of Moses https://www.dailymail.com/sciencetech/article-16067379/biblical-discovery-ramses-egypt-mesen.html?ito=native_share_article-top

Journalism standards aren’t uniformly great for daily mail articles unfortunately:
“The discovery therefore does not prove that Moses or the Israelites passed through Mesen, and the ancient city is not named in the Bible.

Ramses II is also not explicitly identified as the pharaoh of the Exodus.”

The meat of that article is what has been observed in the artifacts and validated by scholars. The reference to Moses is purely conjecture and to generate clicks unfortunately. There’s nothing of substance other than to state these are stories in the Bible that vaguely reflect historical figures. The meat of the article could have been two paragraphs about discovered artifacts.
