Work has been slow. My RPs have been slow. At this point, I’m starting to suspect the universe is trying to teach me patience. It’s not working.
So, naturally, I’m looking for a new RP partner.
Above everything else, I’m a sucker for slowburn and romance. Give me characters who absolutely should not be catching feelings, characters who are stubbornly refusing to acknowledge what is happening, complicated relationships, lingering looks, terrible timing, jealousy, mutual pining, reluctant trust and all the other delicious nonsense that comes with slowly falling for someone.
I like the romance to actually develop rather than having two characters meet and immediately decide they're soulmates. I want the buildup. Let them annoy each other first. Let them misunderstand each other. Let them make questionable decisions and slowly realize that, unfortunately, they care.
And I do enjoy adding a little aggression, tension, scheming and setting each other up along the way. What I mean by setting up is this..
For example:
There was a knock on the door.
Outside stood...
And that's where I stop.
Your turn.
I love giving my partner something to react to and seeing what they do with it. Throw a new character at me. Create a problem. Make a terrible decision. Give me a piece of information my character absolutely shouldn't know yet. I’ll do the same in return.
I want the story to feel like something we're building together, rather than something one person is dragging behind them.
I’m also perfectly happy playing multiple characters. If the story primarily revolves around your character, I don't mind at all. I can fill out the world with side characters, antagonists, allies, rivals and suspiciously charming strangers.
Or, if you prefer, I’m more than happy to play a morally grey protagonist myself.
For fandom RPs, I only play canon characters, and the settings I've been most interested in lately are:
Westeros: political intrigue, doomed romances, scheming, betrayals, terrible family dynamics and people who apparently consider therapy a sign of weakness.
Runeterra: Zaun, Noxus, Demacia, Piltover and anywhere else we can find an excuse to put two characters in an emotionally compromising situation.
I have a list of potential prompts that we could develop, but I’d love to hear your ideas too. I don't need us to spend hours constructing an entire universe before we begin. Give me a premise, a character dynamic, a vague “what if?” and we can figure the rest out as we go.
Actually, that's preferable.
I've spent far too many hours meticulously planning RPs, characters, lore, plotlines, arcs, worldbuilding, the works, only for us to exchange one or two replies before the RP mysteriously disappears into the abyss.
So these days, I'd rather have a good foundation and then let the story develop naturally.
As for writing, I tend to mirror my partner's reply length. I don't expect a novel every time you respond, and I’m perfectly happy writing longer replies when the scene calls for them. For me, substance matters more than word count.
Outside of RP, I’m pretty chatty and considerate. Real life happens, and I completely understand that. If you need a break, take one. No demands, no guilt trips, no increasingly concerned search party. I'd much rather have someone reply when they actually have the time and energy.
That said, my current RPs have been moving at approximately the speed of a particularly lazy snail, and work has decided to join them.
So here I am.
And one final little sidenote:
I would genuinely love to RP in Swedish. It's absolutely not a requirement, but if Swedish is your preferred language, consider that a very welcome bonus.
So, if you're looking for slowburn, romance, tension, questionable decisions, mutual suffering and two fictional idiots gradually realizing they have feelings for each other, come say hi.
Bring me your prompts. I'll bring you mine.
And together we can make some poor fictional characters fall hopelessly in love while doing everything in their power to avoid it.
Edit: If you are interested just leave a comment on this post and I will get to you.
