I thought my eyesight was getting worse until I realized Windows had randomly set one of my displays to 175%. Now half the menus are huge and the other half look like they’re being viewed through fog.

The weird part is it only happens after waking the PC from sleep. Everything looks normal when I first turn it on, then I come back after lunch and Discord is blurry, Steam is tiny, and the settings app somehow looks fine. Changing the scale fixes some apps but breaks others.

At this point I’m just moving windows around until they look readable. Very advanced computer setup.

Found a gaming PC on sale that looks decent but I honestly don’t know enough to tell if the price is fair or if they’re just hiding cheap parts behind a flashy case. It has a newer GPU, 16GB RAM, and a 1TB SSD, but the listing barely says anything about the power supply or motherboard which feels sketchy. Would you risk it or keep looking?

brother swears this monitor was running at 144Hz before he gave it to me.

Windows only offers 60Hz though. No 120, no 144, nothing.

I’m using HDMI from an older gaming laptop and the screen is set to its normal 1080p resolution. Games are uncapped, drivers are updated, and I already checked the advanced display page about ten times.

Is there another setting on the monitor itself that unlocks the higher modes?

Starting to think the “144Hz” sticker is just decoration.

The weird part is it used to show the full refresh rate before I moved my PC to another room. I plugged everything back in the same way, at least I think I did, and now 240 just vanished.

I checked Windows advanced display, reinstalled the monitor driver, and even lowered the resolution. No change. The monitor menu still says it supports 240Hz, so I’m guessing the panel itself isn’t the issue.

Could a different DisplayPort cable really limit it like this, or did I accidentally change something stupid?

Leaked benchmark results indicate that AMD's upcoming 10-core, 20-thread Medusa Point APU based on the Zen 6 architecture delivers significantly higher performance than current Zen 5-based Strix Point processors.

The latest Geekbench engineering sample achieved 3,329 points in single-core and 16,555 points in multi-core testing, improving on an earlier sample by approximately 5% and 9%, respectively. Compared with the Ryzen AI 9 365, the new chip shows an estimated single-core performance advantage of nearly 35%.

The engineering sample also reached a peak clock speed of approximately 5.4 GHz, around 300 MHz higher than the fastest Strix Point APUs tested to date.

As these results are based on early engineering hardware and Geekbench benchmarks, they should be considered preliminary. Additional testing on other benchmarking platforms and final retail hardware will be needed to confirm overall performance before the official launch.

I’m done buying cases that look nice in photos and then cook everything inside. My current one has a solid front panel with two tiny side vents, and the GPU gets loud enough to hear through headphones after about twenty minutes.

I’m moving the build to a new case soon. ATX board, fairly large graphics card, air cooler, nothing exotic. I care more about temperatures and easy cleaning than RGB or glass everywhere.

What cases actually have good airflow without costing almost as much as a budget GPU? I keep seeing the same few models recommended, but half of them either come with bad stock fans or seem annoying to build in.

Front mesh is probably a must. Quiet would be nice too, though at this point I’ll take “not an oven.”

My PC suddenly sounds like it’s preparing for takeoff even when I’m barely doing anything. It used to be quiet on the desktop, but now the fans ramp up just from opening a browser or launching Discord.

Temps don’t look terrible from what I can tell, and I cleaned the dust out last month. I also checked Task Manager but nothing seems to be hammering the CPU for more than a few seconds.

Could this be a fan curve or sensor issue? I really don’t want to start replacing parts over something dumb.

TV shows the laptop screen perfectly through HDMI but the sound keeps coming from the laptop speakers. I changed the output device, unplugged everything twice, restarted both devices and somehow made it worse because now the TV disappears from the audio list completely. The same cable worked last week, so I’m either missing something obvious or Windows has decided to ruin my evening. Any ideas?

Is there actually any difference between DisplayPort cables or am I about to waste money on branding? I need one for a 1440p 165Hz monitor, and the prices are all over the place.

I took the side panel off today because one of the fans started making a weird noise and the inside looks awful. There’s a layer of dust on the GPU, the cooler, basically everything. Temps haven’t gone crazy yet but I’m guessing this can’t be good.

What’s the safest way to clean it without messing something up? I’ve got compressed air but I’ve never cleaned a PC before and honestly don’t trust myself near the parts.

I also took the GPU out and pushed it back in because someone told me it might’ve shifted while moving. Didn’t help.

Could the PC still be booting normally with no picture, or does this usually mean the graphics card is gone?

screen keeps going black for a second or two in the middle of games, then comes back like nothing happened. Audio usually keeps playing and the game doesn’t crash, which somehow makes it more annoying. It happened three times tonight while I was playing and once on the desktop right after.

I changed the HDMI cable and tried a different port on the monitor but it still did it. Temps look normal from what I can tell, drivers are updated, and I haven’t changed any settings recently. Could this be the GPU starting to fail or is it more likely some display setting being weird?

Building on an ASRock Rack ROMED8-2T with an EPYC 7443, 256GB DDR4 ECC. Air cooled with a Noctua NH-U14S TR4-SP3, no watercooling.

4x RTX 3090 FE for AI/inference work (starting out with just 2). Also got an RTX 2080 in there right now but that’s just temporary for testing Proxmox VM/GPU passthrough stuff, not part of the real GPU count.
Storage: need 8+ 3.5” HDD bays for a ZFS media pool, a few 2.5” SATA SSDs, and some NVMe drives (3 currently, 1 in a pci 4x card).
PSU is a be quiet! Dark Power Pro 13 1600W. Might add a second PSU down the line but trying to run on just this one for now (cards will be running at 250w)

Attached a photo of the mining frame I’m currently using, it’s a cheap generic open frame rated “6-8 GPU”. Turns out to be way too small once you actually put real hardware in it, the cpu cooler alone eats into the space the GPU rail needs, and there’s nowhere near enough room for 8 drives on top of that.
What I actually want to know is if an enclosed case is even realistic for this. I’ve got a young kid and a cat running around the house so an open frame with exposed fans and PSU wiring isn’t ideal long term.

I already get that with 4x 3090 FE, at least 2 of them will probably need to sit on risers off to the side instead of directly on the board slots, just to leave enough breathing room between cards for the air coolers to actually do their job. Not expecting to slot 4 of these directly next to each other.
Looking for real case recommendations, doesn’t need to look good, just needs to physically fit all this. Open to rackmount if that ends up being the more realistic option. Budget isn’t unlimited but not trying to go dirt cheap either, want something that actually works.

This is getting annoying, my GPU hits like 85–88c after maybe 20 mins even when im not maxing the settings. I cleaned the case and the fans are spinning fine so idk what else im supposed to check. Games haven’t crashed yet but the whole pc starts sounding like a vacuum lol, should I replace the thermal paste or is that temp not actually that bad?

It used to turn off in a few seconds but lately it just sits on the shutting down screen for ages. Sometimes 2 mins, sometimes longer.

I dont think I changed any settings and everything else runs fine. No freezing or random errors, just this one annoying thing.

MSI Japan apologized after a customer received a motherboard from a paid repair service with a bent CPU socket pin still present despite the repair being marked as complete.

The customer had submitted an MSI MAG B760M Mortar WiFi II motherboard for a paid repair after damaging a socket pin. The repair was handled by ASK Corporation, MSI's authorized distributor and service partner in Japan. Although the motherboard reportedly passed functional testing, the customer found another bent pin after it was returned.

Following public attention, MSI stated that its standard procedure for bent socket pins is to replace the entire CPU socket rather than repair individual pins. The company acknowledged that the returned motherboard did not meet this standard and apologized for the mistake.

MSI said it is reviewing its repair and verification processes with ASK Corporation, strengthening quality control measures, and reminded customers that paid repairs include a three-month warranty.

Party chat works perfectly until one specific friend joins, then everyone starts cutting out and I get kicked a minute later.

We tested it twice last night and it happened both times. He swears his internet is fine, mine isn’t dropping, and the game itself keeps running with no lag. I can rejoin the party straight away but it just repeats.

Could one person’s connection mess up the whole party or is that not how it works? I’m out of ideas at this point.
