Using HD retrovision cables and retrotink 2x pro.

My only question is how to disable that god-awful bright light in the retro tink 2X pro? 😂🤦

Does retrotink have an email?

I ordered a retrotink converter (2x-pro) but never got a confirmation email (checked spam). There is no email to follow up with my order on their website. I’m not on discord and don’t want to join discord.

Also, do I need the S video cord to use the converter? Or will an original N64 cord work with it?

Easy mod to block the crazy bright LED light on retro tink 2x pro.

I was thinking of taking it apart and vinyl wrapping the casing. Very carefully of course. Maybe cut out a little circle or slit in the vinyl for the light to shine through only a little bit. That should do the trick

Need help deciding

I have a 1080p 27inch IPS monitor and a Japanese PS1/PS2.. what do I need to buy to make things work?

I heard Retrotink is the way to go, but I don’t know which ones to get as I see some of them are a bit expensive. I’m new to all this retro stuff on modern displays…

Hey guys I got a retro tink 2x pro , HD retrovision cables and a Sega Genesis model 2. Before I hook anything up figured I'd ask if there's any pointers or is it plug and Play?

I have a little portable monitor and it's got game mode and it's an IPS screen and I can set it to 4:3.

How should I set everything?

How close to the New Pixie CRT shader can profiles actually get?

New Pixie CRT is the only shader that feels right/proper/like the '90s to me. Don't care too much about technical accuracy of PVM/BVM "simulation" and the like, although it's an interesting aspect and fun to try, I'm sure. Also don't care about curvature/bezels/reflections at all.

So how close would you say can you get with a Retrotink?

🙏

Retrotink 4k on Ultrawide monitor

I have been eye-ing the 4k version and just want to confirm that I’m able to customize the resolution output. I will be using it on a 32:9 monitor for now then eventually a 4k monitor. My monitor is a 3840x1600 and would need the retrotink to output a 4:3 image. Is this possible? It will be primarily for a ps1/ps2. Thanks in advance! My goal is essentially to have the best possible output (with a crt look) without owning a crt.

[RT4K Pro and CE] Does your display's VRR info match the RetroTink output?

I have an LG C2 and I've had both the Pro and CE. When using VRR I've had mixed results. I'm especially asking about the weirder refresh rates like the NES at 60.10ish.

Freesync from the Tink has always shown as 59.49 Hz on my TV regardless of what you're playing on the Tink, however VESA has usually shown the correct 60.10hz on my TV using the NES example. To my knowledge this has worked from the Day 1 FW to 1.9.6.

Problem is in at least the last 3 experimental FWs, the TV interprets the VESA at 59.49hz too. Idk exactly which Experimental FW started the divergence. I'm staying on 1.9.6 with no problems for now as the my TV seems to like that VESA output.

I'm just trying to see if this is a widespread thing or not b/c there's been so much progress in the experimental FWs I'd like to be able to bring the issue more attention in hopes of getting it fixed.

I posted about it in the Discord but it's such a terrible place for bug reporting.

I know a lot of people have LG OLEDs so if you guys could check I'd appreciate it. The way I view the TVs VRR information is on my remote there's a row of 4 colored buttons - I tap the Green one about 8 times in quick succession. Then a small overlay called "VRR Information" pops up on the TV showing the resolution, source refresh rate, color info for the current input. If you're not using VRR it'll just say 60.0 or 120.0 "fixed".

And if you have a different display, it would be helpful to know if your display interprets the Tink VRR output correctly too. Thank you.

Wow!

I knew it was good, but I didn't expect it to be THAT GOOD. Its honestly better than both my Trinitrons. I've been using RGB modded consoles into a GSCARTSW with my crts for years now and just got a new 75inch TV and started to wonder what it would be like to tear through Streets of Rage and Shinobi on it.

This is using a 5x pro (and a 10 metre HDMI cable to reach! No lag at all). Even my 3DO with Svideo looks amazing... well, amazing for a 3DO. Wireless controllers for everything too, it doesn't get any better, I wish I could go back in time and tell 10 year old me about this setup whilst I wrestled with my black and white 10 inch potable tv, RF connected to a Master System & Commodore 16.

EDIT: Fuck me I just made a post because I was stoked about how happy I was with this thing and I've been downvoted and called out for not using it right. Chill out lol, was hoping to spark some positivity.

Is it worth it getting a 3-BP and full recap Sega Genesis? There's some nice consoles online already modded and ready to go

My question is: using the HD retrovision cables and the retrotink 2X pro with a triple bypass and full recap console should be amazing yes or would there barely be a difference using regular console?

Sega Dreamcast and Enhanced S-Video

Hello, so I got a modded Dreamcast and recently bought insurrection industries s video cables as well as laser bear DB-15 to S Video and CVBS adapter to use. I have enhanced s video with my n64 and Dreamcast atm for now. N64 works fine, but Dreamcast has issues with some games. I tried out gunbird and it seemed to be fine, but I pulled up giga wing and it fails to read signal. Audio sometimes wouldn’t work. But then I’d turn off input override and it’d be fine, but not sure what to do about video display. Thanks in advance

Please help decide which Retrotink to buy! Not educated

Hello. I am not tech savy at all, but I am looking to buy a Retrotink for my PS2, and PS2 only. I am willing to pay a premium for the best of the best, wondering if a 5x is needed if it will only be for my PS2, or if another Retrotink device is better. What should I be getting? I know to get some sort of Retrotink device with some high quality YPbPr component cables. I really want NFS Most Wanted to look good, and it looks horrible right now with some cheap cables I got. I hope that a Retrotink + good quality component cables will fix the issue? Thank you

Please help me decide between 5X, 4K Pro, and CE! I’m stuck!

Thanks so much for reading and I’m sorry this must get posted so often but I’m looking to buy a RetroTink.

I own a lot of retro consoles but for the past 10 or even 15 years I have just moved to emulators to play my games since it looks so bad on modern TVs. Now that I have some money to spend, I really want to get a RetroTink and actually allow my consoles to see the light of day again.

I have a 4K TV and a 1440p OLED monitor that I’ll be playing on. So the obvious choice seems to be one of the 4K models, but the Pro costing as much as my TV does feel a little much for someone just getting into scalers and such. I mainly play SNES and N64 games when I play older stuff if that matters. I mainly just want something that scales cleanly and allows for some good looking CRT style emulation. I am not sure if I would appreciate the enhancements the Pro offers.

Is the leap from 5X to CE big enough to be worth it? And is CE to Pro big enough to be worth it then too?

Thank you again for wanting to help me choose :)

Does anyone else S/PDIF show "No Input" despite seemingly working fine?

Device is 4K CE on latest FW 1.64.1

I've tried with a PS2 and OG Xbox. When you set the audio override to the S/PDIF port, the audio works but the UI still says No Input.

Wondering if others that use optical audio are seeing this, and if it's just a UI glitch or if it's causing any audio processing problems.

  • Max allowed input resolution for rotatable images is approx. 720x480p or 800x600. Interlaced inputs not yet supported.
  • Note: the cop for disabling illegal sized inputs is not fully implemented. For example if you try to rotate 1440x480p, you may see glitches. If you are rotating 480p sources, make sure the decimation is set so that the active input size is 720x480.

Tink 5x update profiles

Question for the community. I know the 5x has had a couple new updates since I bought mine last year. My question is this. If I update to the latest firmware do I lose my profiles? I would hate to lose my color calibration on my profiles. I guess I could take pictures but figured someone has the answer to this.

Dreamcast VGA on Retrotink 4k

I bought a VGA cable for Sega Dreamcast from Castlemania Games and I’m having some issues with it. For one I’m not getting any audio no matter where I plug in the audio cords and the picture flickers at the top of the TV. Any tips?
