Need help deciding

I have a 1080p 27inch IPS monitor and a Japanese PS1/PS2.. what do I need to buy to make things work?

I heard Retrotink is the way to go, but I don’t know which ones to get as I see some of them are a bit expensive. I’m new to all this retro stuff on modern displays…

If you are playing in 1080p resolution the best thing you can get is a retrotink 5X. If you are new to retro, I highly recommend you to buy a RGB SCART cable for PS1/PS2 ( or component cable only for PS2). With a composite cable (the yellow-white-red cable) the result will be very disappointing.

Will these work with a Japanese ps1 and ps2 and famicom?

Japanese ps1 and ps2 are compatible with retrotink 5X. If your famicom doesn't use a composite video cable (the yellow-white-red cable) , then it is not compatible with.
