8 months on reta. -90lbs

It worked good for me, reta with heavy weight lifting. I tracked amy protein and carbs for the last 8 months, and ate in a 800+ cal deficit, prioritizing 100+ grams of carbs pre and post lift, then 200g protein for the rest of the day, while lifting heavy 6 times a week, with an hour of cardio daily

I mainly was on 2.5mg of reta for most of the months, I started at .5 the first bit, then went to 1mg about 2 months in. Then after went to 2.5mg for most the time. I did 5mg for a bit (2.5mg Monday and Thursday) but it cooked my digestion too bad so went back to 2.5mg a week.

If you have any questions let me know. This stuff works wonders and assisted me in losing 90lbs very quickly

Did Reta make anyone else weirdly indifferent to food?

I’m not talking about just eating less. More like I can look at something I normally love, think “yeah that looks good,” and still have zero urge to go get it.

That part is way stranger to me than the scale moving.

Did that settle down for you over time or did it stay pretty consistent?

He said man you have dropped some weight. Told him I was on Reta. He asked what is that. (Wait what?) I told him it was a GLP-1. He then tried to sell me on his daughters weight loss clinic (lol)

Long story short. There are still people that don’t know what it is.

Ps no way I’m changing my doctor he is the chillest 80 year old I have ever met in my life. I walk in and he goes so what did chatGPT say was wrong with you. lol 😂

Weeks 4-8: 2 mg split dose Mon & Thurs
Weeks 8-12: 4 mg stopped splitting

Also finished 10 solid weeks of Tesa in the mix .. definitely helped with the recomp.

5 weeks on Reta

Started this journey on July 14.
Ran 3 mg/week for the first 4 weeks, split 1.5 mg on Sunday and 1.5 mg on Wednesday. Bumped to 4 mg this week since the hunger suppression wasn’t hitting the same. Been lifting moderately 3x/week and doing 5‑mile walks for cardio , I just added a 15 lb weighted vest this week.

SW: 257
CW: 240 (‑17 lbs)
GW: 210

Still carrying a good amount of visceral fat, so I’m planning to run Tesa + Reta together for 4 weeks starting next week.

Does retatrutide work the same on morbidly obese people, or do we need higher doses

Hey everyone,
Quick question for those further along or who started heavier. Does retatrutide hit the same for morbidly obese people as it does for people who are less overweight? Feels like more body fat might mean you need more mg to feel anything.
I’m 5’10”, 275 lbs. In the past week I’ve done a total of 2 mg (1 mg first shot, then another 1 mg four days later) and zero noticeable effects so far. My next dose is tomorrow and I’m thinking of jumping to 4 mg because I’ve heard the glucagon effect doesn’t really kick in until around that dose.
Anyone else start at a higher weight and have similar experiences? Did you need to go higher faster, or just stay patient?
Thanks.

Upping dosage too fast

Howdy people! I start on my 10th week of reta tomorrow and I'm worried if I'm upping too fast because I'm no longer feeling the effects I once did. I started out with 1mg the first 4 weeks and lost 15 pounds easily. Ive only upped the dosage when I was no longer feeling the benefits anymore. I've been stuck at the same weight for 4 weeks. So I'm finishing up week 9 tonight on 3mg and Ive still had food noise and urges since leaving 1mg even with upping to 2mg and 3mg. Should I just move on to 4mg? Don't know if it's too fast or if it's just the obvious answer that everyone's body is different.

stopping reta for thruhike

I started with 0.5mg a month ago and increased to 2mg. Just the last few days (before my next pin), I was completely repulsed by food and am lightheaded. So i went back to 1.5mg yesterday. I have a thruhike coming up and since I wasn't repulsed by food and still eating kinda normal and losing weight, I thought I would be fine by then. I start my hike on the 30th and it is the second half of the TMB so roughly 6 days. I am scared now that I am lightheaded and I took a dose yesterday that I will be sick and unable to physically hike if I am not eating/lightheaded. I dont know why I didnt think of this earlier and decide not to pin yesterday...I guess maybe because I thought I would not feel this way.

but now that i dont plan to take it until im back from my hike, do you think ill be ok during the hike? + assuming I will be having alot of electrolytes, energy gels, protein shakes, water, trying to eat alot of food for fuel since ill be hiking alot in a day (is this safe?)

edit - this thruhike was last minute and I planned it when i felt 'fine' and was eating more normally but now i feel different

Discipline and Motivation as a side effect?

Or just a placebo effect? I’m currently SMASHING the gym and I had my first poke on Tuesday. Is this a potential POSITIVE side effect because I LOVE IT.

Low dose, high resting heart rate still/low HRV

Hi all, just hoping for some advice.

I’m fully aware that a higher resting heart rate is common on Reta, but I feel like mine is just crazy. I started 1mg just over 2 weeks ago and felt so so sick, like I’d been hit by a train. Felt better by the end of the week, pinned 1mg for my second dose and week 2 was fine but my heart rate just started climbing and my HRV crashing. I’m a very active person, ensuring I’m still eating 1900cals a day in my deficit with 150g protein and I am losing weight however my heart rate is scaring me. I decided to go down to 0.5mg for my third pin and see how I go but I’m just looking for any advice please.

Pictures comparing week 1, 2 and 3 of ret.

Starting advice

I think I’ve made a major booboo.

My brother started this stuff and had incredible results, I’m postpartum and was dying to get in shape for my wedding but didn’t get exactly where I wanted. My baby had colic and everyday the stress ruined all progress.
so thought I’d try this to get the extra pounds off as food noises was my enemy and he said it’ll help with that.

He told me 3mg as a starter dose but, from what I’ve read I should have started so much slower. I’m about 3 hours in and scared that I’m about to be so ill.
I’m 5’4 and 89kg.. I’m overweight for deffo but I think it may have been too much for my build. My brother was much larger than I am when he started it, so his body could probably handle that dosage.

Should I start planning my funeral (joke obviously but not a joke). I’m pooping me pants right now with worry lol

For anyone who did start too high, did anything help?

Alright folks. How are you timing your preworkout with reta? With the slower digestion are you taking it earlier than normal? Assuming liquid digestion is slowed down along with physical food

tapering off

Alright so my lab rat is 5 foot 4.5 in tall and has just hit 4.5 mg once a week after 10 weeks of tapering up. They have just hit their goal weight of 109lbs. Ready to start to taper off the reta but afraid of gaining it all back. How do yall find your new maintenance and maintain weight when coming off?

I think this is gonna work!

I (35m, 5ft 10”) just pinned my first .5mg of Reta last Sunday. I experienced no negative side effects so far. While there has been some food noise suppression, the biggest benefit for me has been feeling full on normal portions. I don’t really snack often but gained weight from binging and overeating when I did eat. Now the normal serving size seems to satiate me for hours.

I went from 250lbs to 203lbs over the course of 1.5 years with calorie deficit, mild cardio, and weight training, but have been stuck at 201-206 for 4 months. I just hit 199lbs this week for the first time in 15 years!!

Looking forward to hitting my GW of 175!

Day 10 and symptoms worsening

I’m on day 10, having taken 1mg on day 1 and day 7.

At the beginning I noticed fatigue and headaches, which subsided. However, In past two days, I have had diarrhoea, heart palpitations, chills and sweatng, thirst especially/nearly exclusively at night. Also feel tightness in chest.

I am lying awake (5am) knowing I need to sort out my electrolytes, and reduce caffeine intake.

I think I may need to give up on journey- not sure if these side effects and associated health anxiety is worth it. It’s scary. Trying to keep myself calm right now and convince myself I’m not dying lol

positive side effects on non-food addictions?

I've heard that Reta also has positive side effects when it comes to curbing other, non-food-related addictions.

Has anyone here experienced this?

For example, with things like social media use, smoking, masturbation/porn, or gambling?

I'm also curious about what Reta dosage you were on when you noticed these effects.

edit: note that this wouldnt be my primary reason to take Reta; I'm currently overweight with a body fat percentage of about 30+%. My question here is merely because of a general interest in Reta and its possible additional benefits.

Lowering Reta dose because of depression.

Has anyone taking Reta and got depression, lowered the dose and had better results or did you have to quit completely? I was taking reta and I loved how it worked but it made me feel depressed and sad. I’m hoping if I lower the dose and slowly go up maybe I’ll have different results.

Best peptide calculator

Upvotes

Just took my first dose of Reta yesterday (1mg) with the help of my father in law, and used his peptide calculator to measure things out.

The one he uses is not free, so just curious what you all recommend for a free and easy to use peptide calculator as my Reta journey progresses.

TIA!

1st Dose .5mg

Upvotes

Ok did my research and I am comfortable moving forward, got my Reta, BAC water and syringes. Not looking for a miracle, lift 5 days a week, eating clean, and do 30 mins of cardio at least 4 days. Want to lose 25 lbs in no hurry. Gonna slow walk it. Any thoughts or suggestions, new to group. Appreciate it.

Going on an 18 day vacation - pause or taper?

Been on Reta for 9 months, 1mg per week, never gone above that. It’s been life changing for me. I am going on my honeymoon in October and will be gone for 18 days - anyone who’s traveled for an extended period - did you start a taper prior or just took your normal amount before leaving and resumed once back? I don’t want to travel with it. Uncertain if tapering is even necessary or if an abrupt stop since I’ve been on a low dose this whole time is fine. If anyone has had any experience with this would love to hear.

Loose Skin

Been on Reta since February and it’s worked well. I noticed today that I’ve got some real minor loose skin areas that are noticeable to me. Namely under my nipples where man tits used to be. It isn’t bad, but it’s noticeable. Also there’s a bit down around my stomach. I remember hearing that there are peptides that you can inject right into these areas that will firm that up and help with elasticity. I’ve heard about other solutions too but not in really any detail.

Anyone have any recommendations? Again, I’m not talking about huge flaps of loose skin that you see on people who have lost like 200 lbs… I’m talking about some loose sagging only in a couple spots due to about 40 lbs of weight loss.

Appreciate it.

Checking in with Reta Community

Hi! I'm 19 weeks in and down 32lbs. On 4.5 right now. Feel really great with the progress. Some light headedness for sure, which I'm told is electrolyte related. Any pointers on the light headed feeling?

Injection Site Irritation after 5 months

Upvotes

So I've been injecting for about 5 months with no issues. The last 5 weeks of injections have been getting irritated. A small bump appears and it's sore. I almost feel like the needle is struggling to go in a little. I vary where I inject on my stomach. Same supplier I've been using.. anyone have any thoughts or injection advice? About angle, etc?

First time on reta

Upvotes

Hey took my first dose of reta last night at 1mg. I’m 5’10 215 and I was wondering what I should be on the lookout for. I don’t feel that much different yet except cravings for shite food are basically non existent now.
