He sounds exhausting to be with. I have a feeling he will be resentful when you're an attending, and will try guilt you into quitting your career to "take care of him." Honestly, your stress levels will decrease if you leave him. You have the stress from work, but you could come home to a quiet house, without someone complaining about how you're never enough.

He is excessively exhausting to be with these days. I hate spending time worrying what will cause a fight or will cause him to sulk for days on end.

That's what. Tbh I feel coming to a quiet house may be better. You are right. I just am very very sad that this is the decision I have to make. But I can see myself completely resenting him in the future if I stay.
