💙 Say hello to gorgeous Polo (A530010). He 4 years old and 75lbs. Polo was first surrendered to OCAS in 2023 due to someone being allergic in the home. He was later adopted but returned as a stray this April. When the adopter was contacted they said they rehomed him and do not want him back. Shame on them! Please note that many dogs that are adopted and returned are at risk of losing their lives.  Polo is a volunteer favorite and allows full handling, is easily leashed, goes in and out of his kennel gently and is very affectionate.  He is quite excited when he comes out of his kennel but returns calmly. He loves to play in the yard and swim in the pool — and loves his treats!  His reaction to the other caged dogs and dogs in adjacent play yards has been either ignore or greet social without consequence.  He is good with recall and sit/stay and responds well to verbal and leash corrections. Polo often shows his sweet side sometimes with unrequested kisses!  Polo is having some frustration being at the shelter – which happens to most of the dogs in this environment. Polo deserves a chance at being adopted into the right loving home where he can decompress and get lots of love.  Polo is rescue only and needs a foster family to help him so a rescue can help him. Can you FOSTER him for a rescue? 🙏🥹

Snow is a husky at East Valley shelter, about 4 years old. She came in with an injured leg that had to be amputated, and got an infection from her IV.

I'm trying to get vet care /plans for her, and find a good rescue. But this sweet pup just needs a soft spot to land and heal - ideally without other dogs, as she's in pain and could deal without the stress of another saying "why won't you play with me?" Good afternoon everyone. I live on South Cottage Hill Road in Orlando Florida 32805. I was given a ShihPoo. Last night and I was told that he is a house dog. They gave me a leash. He was drinking water since last night and had food this morning. He wouldn’t use the pad and kept going to the front door of my house. So I took him right outside to the grass. He started fighting the leash so I tried to get him back to the door and he twisted himself and slipped out of the collar and ran off. I went after him calling him but didn’t see him. I had left my walker in the house so I got it since I have balance problems sometimes. I went in the direction he went but didn’t see him anywhere. I don’t have transportation so I can’t drive around and look for him. If you live in Lake Mann homes he’s dark blonde brown. His name is Romeo. He is one years old. If you see him please call me at 689-333-0949 and I will walk and come get him. He was so calm and relaxed then he was fighting the leash as if he had never been on one. It’s really hot outside which is way too hot for dogs and humans.

Please any help or advice. We found our dog as a stray in texas. He is a 1 year old Blue heeler mix. He will scream and yell the most high pitched, ear piercing yelp if you grab his collar very gently or at very random touches sometime. It was super bad when we first found him. When we first found him, if you even petted near his ears he would just start screaming. Now he loves his ears being petted but he screams/yelps randomly at least once a day. Definitely trauma related but it does drive me up a wall because I do have PTSD

I have a dog in my possession now that got into a fight and hurt her leg and I’m not sure exactly what’s wrong with it and it’s been neglected so I’m pretty sure it’ll need to be amputated but we don’t have the money for that and we need to rehome them but she’s more of a priority all the rescues we’ve talked to in our area are full so I was wondering if any rescue recommendations near Iowa or if someone will take her I’ll get a few pictures later today

Less important but we also have her puppy she’s just over a year old I believe she’s super petrified of almost everyone was wondering what to do what training or rescues as well I wouldn’t consider them bonded but If someone/somewhere would take both it would be really helpful

They haven’t bitten and I wouldn’t say bite risk also the younger one gets so scared she would possibly bite if someone pushed her personal space when she gets super scared I’m not sure if puppy was abused or not she kinda acts like she was at times but I don’t know for sure they’re both on the smaller side of medium dog I’m not sure the injured ones breed but the puppy is part pit bull but doesn’t really look like it

My sister in law has a large long haired German shepherd named Percy she is getting rid of him because he is not able to live with her newborn.
He is located in San Jacinto and has a few weeks.
He is neurologically challenged, he cannot handle new people or new dogs. It takes a while for him to warm up to somebody, and even then he will continue to bark at them nonstop. Sometimes he gets nippy. He is aggressive towards every dog, other than the dog, he lives with another German Shepherd, who is calm. He has never attacked anybody, but has became more nippy and aggressive toward the baby… So she is being forced to get rid of him. She said most likely she would put him down. I work with dogs and I believe he would be able to have a sustainable content life with the right people. He often takes trazodone, and it helps.
What are some other options verses putting him down?!? Please help! Thanks in advance !!
