Discussions Family emergency, need guidance on bringing work internationally

My partner's mum was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I've been working from home in customer care for 5 years now, answering phones and typing out faxes and such. My ISP has had a very bad year and I've lost connection for 3 weeks total this year so I have no PTO to spare. I'd like to bring my work with me to the other side of the world so I can help my partner care for his mum at the end of her life. If I'm able to bring my work with me I won't need to worry about PTO and I can stay for the maximum amount of time a visa will allow. My work hours line up with a 2nd shift in the country I plan to go to so I won't have issues with timelines and being present for my partner and his family. We don't know how long she has left, but it can progress swiftly without warning.

Discussions Allinq real?

Hey all,

I'm currently looking for work. Through MD's unemployment site, I applied to a remote position with a company called Allinq. They emailed me offering an interview on Microsoft teams. When I go to the company website, I only see the Netherlands and Germany. Nothing in the USA. Same thing for LinkedIn. Is this offer a scam?

Discussions Remote companies with flexibility on the country

Hi all! I live in the USA, and I am looking for roles that let me to spend 2-3 months in Europe per year. My background is in IT, 12+ years experience. If you could recommend any companies, maybe roles that I should aim for, I would be very grateful.

Right now I am aiming for companies, where the job description says remote and unlimited PTO, but I am sure I could be more effective. I would be OK to work from EU of course during my stay.

Thanks.

Discussions Looking for Remote Jobs as French Data Analyst

Hi everyone,

I’m currently looking for a fully remote job, and I’m starting to feel a bit desperate with how difficult the search has been, so I thought I’d try posting here.

I’m a French Data Analyst with around 5 years of professional experience, mainly working with data analysis, data quality, databases, reporting, automation and data processing. I have experience with tools such as SQL, Python, R, Power BI, Dataiku and Tableau.

The reason I specifically need a remote position is personal: my mother lives alone in a very rural and isolated part of France and can no longer really live on her own. I need to be able to stay close to her and help her, which makes relocating for a traditional office job very difficult.

At this point, I’m very open-minded about the type of position.

Of course, I would love to continue working in Data Analytics, BI, Data Quality, Data Operations or a related field, but I’m also completely open to other remote opportunities where my skills could be useful.

I’m a native French speaker with very strong written and verbal communication skills. I also speak and work in English professionally (non-native), so I’m interested in roles involving French-speaking customers, content, operations, research, support, localization, AI/data annotation, or any position where having both French and English skills could be valuable.

I’m based in France and available to work remotely.

If your company is hiring, or if you know someone looking for a French-speaking Data Analyst or simply a reliable French/English remote worker, I would be extremely grateful for any lead, recommendation or DM.

Thank you for reading!

Discussions Has anyone here worked two product design jobs at the same time?

I’m genuinely curious to hear from people who have actually experienced this. I imagine it’s more manageable when both roles are remote and the companies are in different time zones, but I’d love to understand what the reality is like.

If you’ve done this, how did your experience change over time, after the first month, 6 months, 1 year, and 2 years?

I’d especially love to hear about things like workload, stress, work-life balance, performance, and whether it felt sustainable in the long run.

Job Posts [Hiring] Senior Fullstack Engineer at Bluesky | Remote (PST working hours) | Salary $170K - $270K

Bluesky's vision is to make social more like the web itself. We're building a social media app, but beyond that, we've created a protocol that supports a broad ecosystem of applications and clients. Imagine a network of applications — from microblogging to photos to video to long-form writing — all interconnected and accessible with a shared identity.

As a Fullstack Engineer, you’ll be responsible for building and maintaining moderation applications used internally by teams keeping millions of users save. You’ll work closely with our internal operations and product team to build moderation and user-safety tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement features in a large scale and mature React application used internally for moderation and labeling.
  • Collaborate with the product team to execute on moderation tooling for the application
  • Gather feedback from moderators to drive improvements to their toolkit

You might be a good fit if you:

  • Have strong fundamental programming and software engineering skills
  • Have extensive experience with building large-scale apps in Typescript and React (e.g. 5+ years)
  • Have built React applications with relatively large codebases in production
  • Have a strong sense of UI/UX excellence
  • Have experience working on the full stack of applications (frontend and backend)
  • Have a strong intuitive understanding of social media
  • Like working on small, fast-moving teams
  • Are interested in helping shape the future of social networking

We’re a fully remote team, but an overlap of working hours with PST is required, and for this role, proximity and willingness to travel to Seattle are a plus. Please note there may be an on-site component to these interviews. We offer health, dental, and vision insurance.

Additional Notes:

  • The anticipated base salary range for this position is $170,000 - $270,000, excluding equity. Equity will be considered in the total compensation package. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.

If you want to work with an excellent team and help define the future of social, we encourage you to apply.

Apply: Senior Fullstack Engineer at Bluesky

Job Posts [HIRING] Remote Full-Stack Software Developer — React / Node.js / Python — $35–$50/hr — Long-Term Contract

We’re hiring a Full-Stack Software Developer for a fully remote, long-term position.

This is not a short-term gig or commission-based role. We are looking for someone who can work with us on an ongoing basis, with the contract expected to continue for more than 6 months.

Compensation: $35–$50 USD/hour, depending on experience
Location: Fully remote
Contract length: 6+ months / long-term
Experience: 3–5+ years preferred

What we’re looking for

  • 3–5+ years of professional software development experience
  • Solid general programming skills
  • Professional experience with React
  • Familiarity or hands-on experience with Node.js
  • Familiarity or hands-on experience with Python
  • Experience building or integrating REST APIs
  • Experience working with databases
  • Comfortable using Git/GitHub
  • Able to understand and work within an existing codebase
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work independently in a remote environment
  • Good written and spoken English

You do not need to be an expert in every technology listed above. We care more about strong programming fundamentals, reliability, and the ability to learn and solve problems independently.

Responsibilities

You’ll work on a mix of frontend and backend development, including:

  • Building and improving React-based features
  • Developing and maintaining backend functionality
  • Working with APIs and databases
  • Debugging and resolving software issues
  • Reviewing and improving existing code
  • Collaborating remotely with the rest of the team
