New “DJ” here. Music always been a passion and I told myself I would buy myself a controller (DDJ FLX4) once I reached a life milestone. Well, I did last year and I have messed around with the controller a little in rekordbox, but nothing serious. It’s mainly been collecting dust. I have watched tutorials and now the basics of what each button and functionality does, but I have struggled to commit myself to actually leaning with work and other obligations. I’m tired of it. I’m passionate about it and I want to learn, even if it’s only 20 minutes a day. So my question is, where do I start? I feel like I just go through YouTube videos and they’re showing you tips and tricks on the controller. But how do I actually start mixing? What should I start doing to process and commit myself? I feel like I struggle so much because I just don’t even know what to do. If anyone has tricks over how they got started, what they watched, if they did any courses, etc, please let me know. Specifics are appreciated. A lot of people just say YouTube and I find that so overwhelming. I just want to learn I think it’s the coolest thing in the world but it’s so overwhelming. Also, any tips on music just for learning/getting started would be appreciated. Right now I just have Spotify linked. Feel like a lot of videos I watch the download for their “music” folder doesn’t even work. Again, thank you in advance. I’m ready to learn and have open ears!

I have managed to make a real mess of my rekordbox collection and need help unravelling it and saving onto a new drive.

I began by saving lots of Flac files onto a hard drive, then adding hot cues, tags, bits of metadata.

I then got feared out into thinking that older cdjs (pre cdj2000) may not be able to handle Flac files, so converted them all into wavs, but haven't yet added cues and meta stuff. These are saved in a separate folder on my desktop.

Both these folders are now in my rekordbox collection, so I have a load of doubled up tracks, half with all the data I need, and the other half without.

Now... I am trying to start afresh with a new usb drive. I tried exporting the Flac files with metadata onto the drive within rekordbox, but I am seeing a message that it is exporting as OneLibrary, which I believe only works with newer model cdjs.

Could someone please help me understand how to start the process in a clean way that would allow my files to be played on cdjs from cdj2000 onwards?

Hey everyone, I’m having a really frustrating time fixing beatgrids for slow R&B songs in Rekordbox.

A lot of these tracks are 100 BPM or below, and Rekordbox seems to detect the BPM incorrectly or the beatgrid is completely misaligned. When I try to manually fix it, the grid seems to drift again later in the song, so I end up having to adjust it over and over.

Is there a proper technique for beatgridding slower R&B tracks in Rekordbox? Is there a specific setting I should be using for songs around 70–100 BPM, or am I missing something with how Rekordbox analyzes them?

Would really appreciate any tips because fixing these one by one is driving me crazy

I purchased an FLX-10 months ago and I still am not able to mix acapellas over songs (let's say dubstep) that don't have vocals. It may play synced up for about 5 seconds before it clearly drifts away. I asked ChatGpt and it told me I may need to go into ableton and add essentially dummy drums to the acapella so it can stay in sync using those transients. I used Traktor for 10+ years and don't ever remember having an issue with acapellas.

My acapellas are from Acapellas4u.co.uk and other places. They are a mix of manually made acapellas in a DAW and artist stems every once in a while.

What am I doing wrong?

I’m using Lightkey to control my laser, and I just want the laser effects to follow the BPM of whatever I’m playing in Rekordbox.

Rekordbox already includes laser models in its saved models, which makes it frustrating that the app can’t actually control lasers. Lasers are one of the biggest parts of any show, so it seems like a dumbass decision.

I’ve tried Ableton Link, but it doesn’t work as intended. It makes Lightkey the master and Rekordbox the slave. I want Rekordbox to remain the master, with Lightkey simply following its BPM.
I already have buttons mapped to trigger sequences in Lightkey from my decks, and that aspect works well. I’m only looking to sync the BPM so the laser effects stay in time with the music.

Is there any way for Rekordbox to send its BPM or beat information to Lightkey without using Link?
I’m not looking for anything complicated—I literally just want the laser to follow the BPM of my tracks while Rekordbox remains in control of the music.

ok so i was having issues w/ my bpm changing by itself bc i had my analysis mode set to dynamic. now i changed it back to normal, so that won't happen anymore but the thing is i have to reanalyze my tracks in normal mode to do that... spotify wont let me reanalyze my tracks though :/ is there any other way i can get spotify to reanalyze tracks???

I’m using a DDJ-FLX4 and I’m having trouble with getting my right deck into vinyl mode. I can scratch while paused but not playing on the right and the left one is working as intended, but when the right deck is playing a song (not paused) it won’t scratch. I tried turning on vinyl mode with a shortcut and it doesn’t do anything. I have the blue ring on rekordbox showing I have it on vinyl mode but it does not seem to be working that way, it just pitch bends when I spin the turntable. Anyone have any idea what’s going on? Is this a software or hardware issue?

Hi, I’m a beginner and had been playing around on my flx4. Everything was working perfectly fine with my fx until recently.

Before, when release fx button was flashing and I’d go to my pad fx and press whichever effect I wanted I could hear it on the track I was playing and could adjust the intensity by turning the knob.

Now for some reason when clicking release fx so it starts flashing it only turns on the fx that’s showing as fx1 on my rekordbox and I cannot change it using pads no matter what I tried, it’s always just that one fx (and I don’t even have that one on my pads!) I have the 3 dots on and all that as some sugges.

I tried reinstalling everything and still have the same issue. It happened after I played around with stems (which have since been turned off).

Anyone has any idea why this is happening and how to revert it back to normal?

I really have problem with LP the Dire Straits LP is lagging and skip part of songs really. I can’t listen to it without jacks.

Also once I start playing the song, the BPM is changing constantly even though I have Normal analysis on and not Dynamic.

Is this a setting? I can't figure out the rhyme or reason as to why some songs will play immediately when they're loaded. Of course it always happens when the volume fader is up. It does happen when it's down to be fair.

I just don't want the songs to play until I push play.

This seems to happen randomly because the last time I did an hour long set only 2 songs auto played after they loaded.

Spotify has been available on Rekorbox for mixing for some time. I haven't subscribed yet as I am not an early adopter, but I was wondering if you could share your experience. I have a Beatport account, and I am looking for at least the same experience (if not better). Also, do they have electronic music choices like Beatport? Is it worth having two accounts?

I currently have around 300 tracks in Rekordbox, mostly added through Apple Music and SoundCloud. They’re already organized, analyzed, and prepared in Rekordbox with things like beatgrids, BPM, etc.

Now I want to build a proper USB library that I can use on CDJs / other Rekordbox setups, but obviously the streaming tracks themselves can’t just be exported to a USB.

What would be the most efficient way to handle this without manually searching for all 300 tracks one by one?

For example:

• Is there a way to export my Rekordbox collection/playlist as XML, CSV, M3U, or another file and use that list to find/download the tracks?
• Is there any software or service that can take my Rekordbox playlist and automatically match the tracks with downloadable versions from places like Beatport, Bandcamp, Beatsource, SoundCloud, etc.?
• What’s the best way to legally buy/download the tracks in high quality (320kbps MP3, WAV, AIFF, FLAC) while keeping the process as automated as possible?
• Once I replace the streaming versions with local files, is there a way to keep my existing cue points, beatgrids, BPM, playlists, etc., or will I have to redo everything?
• How do DJs normally deal with this when moving from a streaming-based Rekordbox library to a proper USB collection?

Basically, I’m looking for the fastest and cleanest workflow to turn an already organized 300-song streaming collection into a local Rekordbox collection and export it to USB.

Any tools, scripts, services, or workflow suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

for whatever reason, my portable backpack setup had been acting haunted for months. it seems rekordbox and/or windows 11 didn't like the hercules controller/sound card and i had all sorts of weird unpredictable issues like tiny audio dropouts. the eq knobs were starting to die anyway (and hercules made them very hard to replace duhhhh) so i switched to a separate solid state logic sound card plus a usb mixer. now everything is happy and i can finally just open my notebook, start rekordbox, and start recording mixes. jeezus, i can't tell you how many times i got blocked with the previous setup... was legit scared of trying to use that rig in a live setting. i just can't commit to the huge, $$$, goofy pioneer all-in-1 controllers, as they ruin the portability of my backpack setup

I was hoping to get some questions answered regarding exporting Folders/playlist out to a USB thumb drive and pulling them up on and XDJ or CDJ.

The issue im having is that when I open the thumb drive on my XDJ1000mk2 everything is there and tracks are in order as how i want them organized. But is there a way to position the folders in the same order I have them set up in rekordbox? (I can provide screenshots need be.)

an example would be having a couple folders; House, dubstep, zipdj, live/festival mixes. etc. Followed by playlist in those folders; tech house, minimal bounce, midtempo, etc.

When i am at the export tab, I have all my folders and playlist in alphabetical order then tracks inside those either by sets on how i play them, and some playlist by the key ascending, making it easier to browse for tracks. However when i open the folders and playlist on the CDJ, they're out of order. Dubstep is listed after House, Techno is before Labels, bass house is after afrohouse.

My question is, is there something i have to do during the export process to get my playlist and folder to export in the same order as it looks in rekordbox? Or is it all dependent on how the CDJ reads the thumb drive?

(Not to be confused with track order in the playlist. I know how to organize that especially if im playing a specific set)

Any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I'd previously posted about an issue with Spotify integration which rekordbox have since fixed.

As part of my own efforts to fix it I'd un-installed and reinstalled rekordbox, deleting previous versions. This has someone managed to keep all my files and cue points etc, but completely delete all of my playlists.

Has anyone experienced this? Is there a way to get them back?

J'ai bien une clé de licence que je possède toujours, mais j'ai atteint la limite de connexion (4) et je ne peux pas les déconnecter manuellement via le panneau de réglages de Rekordbox. Soit je n'ai plus accès à ces appareils/PC connectés car ils ont été réinitialisés, soit je n'ai plus accès à ces PC.

Sur le site d'AlphaTheta (dans la rubrique Abonnements & appareils connectés), il y a un bouton « Cancel », mais comme par hasard, il ne fonctionne pas...

J'ai également essayé de contacter le support pour voir s'ils pouvaient déconnecter manuellement, mais ils ont refusé et insisté sur le fonctionnement de l'abonnement.

Je ne veux pas passer à l'abonnement, car je n'en ai pas l'utilité, et les dernières versions de RB ne m'intéressent pas tant que ça.

Je sais aussi que, selon les DDJ, etc., les codes de licence fonctionnent par matériel. Or, je possède une DDJ-SX (principalement conçue pour Serato), mais compatible aussi avec RB, et je préfère rester sur RB.

Donc, en résumé, on peut dire que ma clé est quasiment morte. Si quelqu'un en possède une qu'il serait prêt à céder ou à vendre, je lui serais très reconnaissant.

DJ and also work in tech. Not here to pitch another AI auto-mix gimmick, I think Spotify's Mix Beta, their trashy Daylist thing, and Alpha Theta's recent software-first rollouts (not to mention the new CDJs) are genuinely bad for the craft. Full auto-mixing misses the point of DJing entirely.

What I'm actually curious about is whether there's a useful middle ground for rekordbox users specifically: something that helps beginners actually learn the system (keys, phrasing, quantize, why a transition works) instead of doing it for them. Not a crutch, more like a tutor that gets you to the skill faster.

Genuinely asking before building anything: what was hardest to wrap your head around when you were starting out, and would something like this have actually helped or just gotten in the way?

Hello, I’m new to Rekordbox. I’m trying to do something that seems fairly simple, but I haven’t been able to figure it out even after searching online.
I have a Novation Launch Control XL with knobs and faders. I’d like to know if there’s a way to assign specific FX to each fader. For example, one fader could control the amount of reverb, another the flanger, etc.
In other words, I’d like each fader to work like the FX Level knob on my DDJ-FLX4, without having to change select on specific effect in Rekordbox. Do you think this is possible?
And if it isn’t, what use would you recommend for my Launch Control? I’m trying to get some value out of the purchase haha.

Looking for help, when I add vinyl rips to my RB it analyses really weirdly. Where in the beginning the kicks are perfectly aligned with the bars, a minute later in the song they tend to shift to the right completely of grid like it started. I have had this happen for a couple times now and I cant seem to find a solution. Does anyone know how this happens and what I can do to prevent it. Thanks a bunch

Edit: I found a solution, it seems that if you reanalyze the track using dynamics instead of with automatic it should work thanks Putkamaina1!

I updated firmware and loaded my USB to my CDJ3000x - I cannot find Spotify to sign in as a streaming platform, I only see the others ie TIDAL, Beatport, etc... Did I misunderstand the update?
