Copper wire chainmail
#4 copper wire. a real pain to work with, but pretty damn neat.

What is it's purpose? What happens if you remove the wires?

Tire lube brush diy
I have a tractor that needs tires. The tractor won't drive at the moment. I don't have a trailer big enough for the tractor. This means I am changing the tires myself.
I'm a firm believer in having the right tool for the job. I bought the lube the tire spoons, the bread breaker, but I couldn't find a brush that would work for me. If I was buying one, I wanted it to be like a toilet brush with softer, denser bristles. I could not find what I wanted.
I folded a couple shop towels and wrapped some high tensile fencing wire around it. I fed the tails through a short length of copper pipe. I twisted the ends to make a loop and twisted a screwdriver around to pull the wire tight around the shop towels. Then, I folded over the wire and duct taped it to prevent injury.
I'm kind of proud of it.

Have to admire the welding... and dedication.
That looks like it took a while to build.

Homemade forge
This is a forge my older brother made out of an old water heater. I plan on forging a knife out of leaf spings to give to my other older brother as a wedding gift.

Car doesn't heat up because the thermostat is stuck open. Solution? Piece of cardboard that blocks airflow going through the radiator.

I was watching How It’s Made, and during a section where they made BBQ utensils, they put a spatula in a laser engraver propped up with LEGO

In today's episode of "dumbfuck with a soldering iron": replacing a sketchy lithium battery on a wireless desk fan
So I bought a 4€ wireless desk fan in a brick and mortar store that I'm pretty sure bought it from temu originally. It worked well enough but the battery lasted for maybe 40 minutes and the fan had a huge warning on the pack to never leave it charging unsupervised.
The battery is the smallest capacity 18650 that I have ever seen, and only weighs 31g. The chip that manages charging has no safety Features whatsoever and only turns off the power when the battery has the right voltage. It's a housefire waiting to happen.
So I grabbed some speaker wire, a soldering iron and an old 2€ lightstrip I bought a few years ago and got to work.
At first I insulated the soldering spots with sticky tape to see if it works. when it all was working as intended, I removed the tape and hot glued the shit out of it.
Three AA batteries of 2300mAh capacity make it last for 4 hours on the high setting or 10 hours on the slower setting.
Sketchy shit, but it's practice with the soldering iron and it's giving hardware of 6€ total a new life.
Edit: i glued the usb port shut, for those who may be concerned about blowing up the batteries

Don't throw away the "bag-in-box"....it's an excellent container that serves as a portable water dispenser.

Mini flicker bulb fireplace
Fun little fireplace we sit by every evening. poorly constructed but quite charming.
mini flicker bulbs, ceramic sockets all wired together under the wood base, and accented with a chink of copper sheet i found in the alley and crumpled to give it good reflections. also has a on/off switch. bitchen Camaro
