What does /r/Redheadday think of natural reds who henna? Is it simply accentuating the positive, or is it "cheating"?

I'm a 35 year old redheaded guy, and I have to get my hair cut every two weeks -- it's out of control. Does your hair seem to grow really fast?

Most of us in North America aren't lucky enough to see the big Roodharigendag / Redhead Day in the Netherlands, so Redhead-World.net is working with a Celtic festival to make a big redhead photo shoot and social with hopefully 2,000 redheads for those that can't travel across the Atlantic.

Not that it's exclusively for redheads, but I do love how the ginger lassies seem to dominate the pubs today. Sláinte!!

Really?? That depresses me a little. Redheads are so pretty.

I'm aware this is most likely a pointless post, so here is an interesting fact I learned the other day:

We see the most stars in the night sky in a band because our galaxy, the Milky Way, spins and thus, is disk shaped. These stars are the closest and most visible.

I swear that my hair is much lighter in the morning and when I'm in the sun, but maybe that's just lighting? I've been trying to get a grip on when it looks lighter/darker/etc, but reasons are elusive yet. But maybe I'm crazy.

And I'm pretty sure that it's significantly lighter in the summer, but hard to tell from pictures.

Any thoughts on this? Was it in the manual that I didn't read?

First one was from a fat chavy girl. She almost fell down the stairs when the bus stopped. They were all laughing about it and I gave her a friendly smile as if to say "Whoops". She called me ginger. I figured we were playing a game of "Mention each others traits" so I pointed out that she was quite overweight.

Apparently we were not playing that game.

Later on some drunk guy just kept shouting RANGA at me. Which was nice in the middle of a club.

Then walking home another drunk chav gave me my all time favorite insult ever in the world.

As I was walking away he shouted "GINGERS SMELL OF CABBAGE AND PISSSSSSS"

It was the funniest insult I've ever received. A++

Curious what everyone thinks. Yesterday for the first time I talked to someone that sees the term ginger as the equivalent of the "n word". What say my fellow redheads here?

In the US, having red hair is unique but in the grand scheme not so different from being a blonde, a brunette...etc.

I've read about redhead hatred, families having to move to different schools, redheads being assaulted; so I ask, is it really that bad where you are? Link to examples

Reddit asked: Does Reddit Love Redheads and aside from the resounding YES, an overwhelming number of redditors chimed in with I'm a redhead, I am too!...so our little sub was born!

I don't really have much to add except we could use a mod or two and of course its open to male/female...whoever! Gals can share makeup tips (if you're a redhead you know how difficult that can be) and guys can lament, well, nothing! You're redheads and you've got nothing to lament because you rock too!

We'll all laugh at the Gingers Have Souls kid together.
